It's safe now Tami!

I have the sneaking suspicion that you will beat me in avoiding TOPPs.

Slow here today - where are Suzy, Judy, Rolanda, Bean etc. I know Gail's gone to Adelaide.
Visit to Mum went well until I tried to leave - then she went off her tree at me leaving her there with people she didn't know and how it was typical of me and how she could never trust me.
A nurse saved me and conversation got on to Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, James Stewart etc - next time I said I was going she barely noticed!

We appreciate what a good person you are, CynB. Alzheimers is an awful disease. That's not really your mother left in there. The stranger in her body can't help it. But next time try Tyrone Power. That would distract ME!

Thanks Rolanda and Heidi - This happens often and I'm as used to it as is possible, especially after my father had it as well. I find that if you don't laugh, you cry. She was in great spirits until I tried to leave.
Heidi - that's why we went to Gable and Stewart, I know they were her favourites!
Rolanda - hope all is well with your Mum.

Hey Brenda, jaw is really sore, but all is healing noicely....How are you?
Cyn, the one thing that mothers keep even with alzheimer's is the ability to make you feel guilty, so glad you can see through that.((((Hugs))))

Hi Brenda & Broni.
Oh dear, my knee.
Visited my GP. Will not do any more x-rays.
I have a chronic knee problem, I know this.
I am too young to have a replacement.
She has given me some Mobic, which I can only take for two weeks, it is an anti-inflammatory.
I have had this before and it makes my ankles
blow up like a balloon. I take Blood Pressure
tablets so cannot be on it any longer than 2 weeks.
Also she says to have some physio, I have done this before too, and it does not help.
There are two procedures that could be done on it, as the specialist has told me previously, but he is not keen on doing either of them and neither am I.
Nothing much I can do but put up with it and try these things again I guess.

Hey Viv, know it is a long shot but have you tried Voltaren cream, really helped a friend of mine who swears by it now.

Viv, I really emapthise with you on this problem.
I have knee problems too so I know how painful it can be. I have a high pain threshold so rarely take medication. Years ago I was sent to physio but no matter how diligent I was in doing the excersises it never helped. I have actually given up on going to doctors as nothing they do really help, especially when the first thing they say is 'you should try and lose weight this will help enormously' Recently I have lsot over 46lb in weight and it hasn't helped at all.

Brenda, yes I have found that the medication they told me to take did nothing at all so do not take any.
But this last couple of weeks it is very very painful and if I trip up it is excruciating the pain. Yes I too have been told to lose weight, and I did not think i was badly overweight.

Thanks Broni but have tried that, have tried many many things over the years.
Even some balm they use on horses, no luck.
The cartilage has worn away and I also have some bone spurs etc. The other two options I could maybe have done, the outcome from those is the same as for a knee replacement. It only lasts so long they say.

Wow another hour with no posts, Viv still reckon it is worth trying again, I know there is damage there but it may ease the pain.

Good morning all! Been helping Meghan since the effects of the anesthesea and drugs they gave her on Tuesday wore off by Wednesday. Her jaw is sore and her left side is swollen. I'm wondering if they had a harder time getting the teeth out on that side. She has a lot of school work to do but I don't think she feels well enough to work on it. She did find out yesterday that she got a grant to study in Turkey this summer. I don't know if she'll go though because the grant covers the cost of the program, she still has expenses for living that would be tough to cover.

It looks like I'll be the one driving to pick up Brendan tomorrow. He didn't look for a ride because Meghan was supposed to go down and visit him, but she's not feeling well enough for that. So tomorrow, driving over 6 hours round trip to pick up Brendan. Saturday morning picking up Bryana and dropping off Meghan. I'll leave at 8:30am and get back around 3:30pm, if there's no traffic. It's going to be a long couple of days!

I'm done with physical therapy for now. He wants me to wait to see what the doctor says next week. My arm is really sore today because he really pushed it yesterday to calibrate the range of motion. Moving my arm up has improved but moving my arm back has not.

Morning all, sun is shining and we should have a lovely spring kind of day today. Temp is 40F (4.4C), headed for 68 (20C).

I have no smilies this morning, so imagine the coffeepot and cups lined up here, all ready for your morning coffee. My first cup is espically good.

Viv, I get a lot of relief from joint pain from Capsaicin Lotion or cream. It is made from hot peppers. I have used it for 15 years or so and wouldn't leave home without it hehe. Doctors are now beginning to recommend it here. Because of the problems with the non steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, they are looking to alternative medicines more than before. It is not gonna fix what is wrong, but it does help relieve a lot of pain and make moving easier. If you can find it, and if you decide to try it, send me a PM, there are a few things it would be helpful for you to know, but too long winded for here. Hope the knee gets better no matter what it is you do.
