I don't think any of my friends are around. I guess I could talk to myself for a while. It is a long way to the next TOPP so I know Heidi won't be back for a while.

How're the boys?

They are doing good. Mitchell has the big state test coming up on Tuesday and Wednesday. He usually does really well so he is not nervous. Dylan doesn't have to take it until next year.

I got the wonderful news today that I get to administer the test on tuesday to the 25 or so kids that teachers do not want in their rooms. They can not be trusted to behave. I will have ALL of them. Luckily Wednesday, someone else will administer part 2 while I test my math students.

IS that wonderful? Are those kids disruptive? Or just bored?

These are the kids that will cause all kinds of problems. I would not be surprised to see some of these kids on the nightly news one day.

Any creative ideas as to how to handle them? Like make them run 5 laps of the room every time they disrupt anything? Or just as a warm-up before the test?

BTW... how did you get so lucky to get them? Pick the short straw?

I wish I could. The parents have already been informed that they will not be testing with their class. They are going to be in a huge room. I plan on putting 5 feet between each desk. I will have at least one other assistant, I am hoping there will be a third person also.

I was volunteered. Some people would consider it a compliment. I think it is more a matter of wrong place/wrong time.

Practice sounding intimidating. And supremely confident. It'll confuse 'em. I hope.

These kids are "grown" Nothing intimidates them. I don't think you realize but I teach in an inner city school. I work in the 'hood. I am one of the few white faces in my school. They are not intimidated by me or by anyone else.

I did NOT realize that.

I can't even imagine being there.

Most of them are really good kids. Its just the bad ones are horrible.

I actually like being there. I would rather be there with the problem kids than in some of the areas with the problem parents. I have of parents bringing an attorney to a parent/teacher conference.

Most PEOPLE are good, I believe. But I would hate to face the worst of the lot. My good wishes will be with you Tuesday.

Bad parents make bad kids.

Like always I will survive. I appreciate the thought. It is not so much that they are bad parents. It is more that they work 2 or 3 jobs to try to keep food on the table. It is a very low income area. A lot of immigrants trying for a better life. It just does not give them a lot of time for their kids.

If anyone's worried about the cyclone or flooding in our area, all is fine here. It's hot and sunny, and the cyclone is expected to threaten areas soouth of us. We DO NOT want any more rain, and a cyclone even less. Cyclone Hamish has the strength to take off our roof, and this time downstairs would be safe! hehe

Aaaargh from nowhere it's now pouring rain. Bucketing!!!!

Tropical storms can really dump a lot of water on you, too.

hello everyone. i've read a few pages and feel very happy to reconnect a bit. sounds like the dentists near stella and heidi are doing well. i am mourning that flute with you stella. musical instruments are sooooo pricey, but the history of that one in particular is priceless!

loved the new pics on suzy's page. it was great to finally meet one of SA's finest! heidi you will always be topps for me! you're doing great! tami- with not topping and especiall the REALLY fun test date coming up!

i have been slammed with multiple birthday parties, state basketball tournaments, "the house" decisions (i am sooo NOT decisive!), and basic mom tasks. my car is perpetually low on gas, and i am never home long enough to enjoy the house i clean until the wee hours of the morning. i plan on having a day off soon....wait!...is that the spa calling my name?...i think so!

acutally it is mr. mariana calling me. i had better go pay some attention to the only person in this house more stressed than myself. to SA!.

Well, it's nearly midnight here, and I finally have a few minutes to read a page or two. I'm only about 15 pages behind, so I guess I missed Judy's birthday. Happy Belated Birthday, Judy!
