MizT, so sorry to hear about your tummy bug. Hope it all gone now, though I bet you are still tired.
CG, I didn't read about the fires, will have to go and have a look now that I have a connection that is working. Stay safe!
eaa, I was here - just reading! Sorry I missed you.

Rachel likes to go in the bathroom and take tissues out of the garbage can. I have been able to keep the door almost closed and she will not go in. I just watched her take her nose and push the door open. Now I have to make sure the door is completely closed or I will find shredded tissue all over the house.

Drat missed you!
I just got a call from my mother. I set her up on facebook and she called me wondering what the emails from facebook are all about... I've been instructed to stay close to a phone today so I can help her if she gets stuck! When we moved home 9 years ago she wouldn't even have an answering machine or a mobile phone. We have created a monster!!!!

Good morning lovely people. Have had to read about 6 pages.
Gail and other Masterchef viewers - great result. I got emotional.
Rolanda - welcome back and
to Stephen. I remember him as being a lovely, friendly and funny young man.
Broni - I too am overwhelmed by Suzy's brain fart and can't remember what else I wanted to say.
Oh yes, Nola - much admiration for Renae fostering the little one.

Had son's 3 girls for most of the weekend while their parents went to a party down at the Gold Coast. We made the mistake of taking them out to the other 2 grandie's school fete. We were, as usual, exhausted by last night.

Suzy - it is great - watching them grow and change into seperate little individuals and personalities but of the same blood. And being a whole family again is great - all is still good and I don't expect it to change.

Good morning everyone, hope you're all well.
Just skimmed through the news(MizT hope you feel better soon !)
We had a very busy weekend - went to see the new Harry Potter movie (did anyone else find the picture very dark - not sure if we had a bad print, or if that was intentional) Anyway, I enjoyed it, of course! Afterwards Adam came over for dinner - and we watched the final of the cooking show. Mmm, I guess it was a foregone conclusion, really - it didn't seem to matter what that woman did, she was always going to win. Did anyone see the photo of Chris, the last guy eliminated? www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=606286
Made us laugh, but then, we're mean and nasty! I'm so glad that show is over - we're trying to lose weight, and here they are slathering butter and cream and lard and whatever over every mouthful they cook - it made me feel quite ill watching it sometimes!

Judy - thanks for that link - hilarious!
I was pleased that Julie won but wouldn't have been overly disappointed had Poh won. Glad HE didn't though. Just once I would have liked to see him crack a smile. Even when he did well he couldn't do it.

CynB, I'm so glad that show is OVER! Believe it or not it was Rob who really enjoyed watching it - mostly I found the whole thing annoying! I used to think I was quite a good cook until Laura started her cookery course - suddenly I knew nothing. Now she's moved out and Rob is taking over the cooking on weekends - hey, that's ok, except that, once again, I seem to know nothing. Makes me wonder how I managed feeding him, and four kids, back in the day when we had no time for messing around ... Well, "back in the day" I thought nothing of whipping up a batch of chocolate eclairs with creme patissiere, or homemade banana and rum icecream, or ... (you get the picture!) Now it seems I don't know as much as I thought - and yes, I know I'm sounding all bitter and twisted! :(
See, I really shouldn't watch those shows! ;)

Afternoon all!
My sloshy thing hasn't stopped sloshing today. Where does it all come from???
June, that nasty murder was a little too close to you for comfort, even knowing that it was probably 'targeted'.
Judy, I have been told to leave Ebob's lessons from an instructor to the END of her hours so she doesn't spend the whole time telling us that we know nothing - same deal as your cooking by the sound of it.

CynB, sounds like a wonderful time with the grandies! Judy, can't wait to see the Harry Potter film - just don't know when it will get fit into the schedule, though. Sorry about your sudden lack of knowledge about cooking. I'd be thrilled if you'd come here and share that "lack" of knowledge! Sounds yummy! We don't have a dog that gets into tissues/garbage bins. Luckily our cats never have been all that interested in batting around rolled up paper, etc. However, last week we found that our year-old grandie really enjoys rolling out the toilet paper, so bathroom doors must be kept completely closed.

Suzy, I think it's so cool that your Mum uses the internet and is getting started on Facebook! I think my Mom might have tried her hand at it, had she lived long enough. My MIL probably would never have tried it, even before the macular degeneration problems. She doesn't understand automated phone messages. If it says, "Press 2 to leave a message," she holds down the 2 during the entire time she talks. It was one of our early hints that we (especially hubby) needed to take over many of her errands/ordering/bill paying, etc.

Julie, does your MIL still live at home? I can see her reasoning for holding the "2" down, my mum used to hold the phone upside down and you would have to yell down the phone to get her to turn it the other way.

I would love Mum to have had a little laptop and internet access. I know she carried on a pork chop every time I suggested it, but she was no dummy and I am sure she could have picked up the basics. It would have been a means of daily contact with her for all of us, especially if she was set up with a webcam.

Hi, Suzy! We just spend a week with D, SIL & grandies, but are back home for a while. Younger D is here with us for a couple of weeks. She works in Texas, where temperatures have been mostly over 100* F since late May. We went to an outdoor concert (Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing Mahler's Symphony No. 9 tonight & temps here were high 60's. She was freezing.

Hey Broni, when you get your wireless check where it covers! Ours worked in Port Macquarie, but not in Epping... Other than that it is wonderful to be able to get online most places!
I like your avatar Julie. Holding down the 2 would be funny if it wasn't so sad. That doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean I hope.
