CynB, it is wonderful hearing how much fun you are now having with your Grandies.
Good to see you about Broni and hope you are starting to feel better.
Enjoy Washington State Suzanne. I have been to Seattle (where they have some Melbourne trams running). I have a friend (who will be 102 in October) who lives there.

I was wondering how close Rena was to the fires. My two girls are supposed to be travelling in BC next week, I know it is a big place and they will use their intellegence and stay away from any affected areas.

Brenda, the police are baffled about the whole thing but they were Asian and sometimes there are standover people etc. but then it is not necessary to kill young children in such a vicious way. The house is probably about 2 kilometers from us but not far from our Bowling Club.

I have a Canada, USA Road Atlas. If they are going into the Rockies they are a long way from Kelowna. I am sure they will be safe and also have a wonderful trip. We drove from Seattle to the Rockies via Kelowna.

Thanks for that info Brenda. It is hard to guess a distance when there is a spiral down the middle of the map!

June, I sure did give her some options. The one I made was plain, but alternatives would be to either dip the biscuits in orange juice for a jaffa style cake, or in any sort of alcohol, say sherry etc. Another variation is to dip them in strong black coffee for a tiramisu style cake.
I made mine in a deep glass casserole dish, and served it out with a big spoon, kind of like a pudding.

It's the most disgustingly yummy, easy dessert to make, best made ahead of time.
Layer choc ripple biscuits with whipped cream, how easy is that! The cream softens the bikkies to a cake-like texture. I made mine the night before, covered it with plastic and put it in the fridge. Use biscuits either plain, or with any of the variations listed above.

Brenda, I used to use chocolate ripple biscuits. That is chocolate flavoured, not choc coated. You can just use whipped cream (or flavour it as suggested). I put the round biscuits on their edge with the whipped cream between and all around. You leave till the biscuits have softened (overnight and cut at an angle to give layers of biscuit and cream.
I think I will go to bed and not wait for the change over. 'nite all.

Evening all!
My choc ripple cake is in the fridge, covered in plastic, and will be eaten tomorrow to celebrate the fact it is a day of the week. Oh, and the fact I got a letter from the Uni saying my prac met requirements... still a paper to go...
June I did a google map on the address of the murders and saw how close it was to you. Not good. Very very sad that children were involved.

SA8ers!! Finally cooler here today...supposed to be 90 (better than the low 100's for the last week...I've got all the windows open. My neighbor Kim was outside last night & we were chatting, got dark VERY quickly and 5 minutes later, it was POURING rain! I think the rain is what cooled us off. Getting packed for our trip. That is about all from here, gotta have some brekky soon, stomach just growled!! TTFN

I have fallen behind and c annot catch up! OK, I did get to the top of this page, but still, you people have been talkative, I LOVE it!
June, gee, I do not think of myself as OLD, and I started using computers when a good one has less power than most games take now! I kind of grew up with them. My first word program was Word 2.0 hehehe.
I am feeling better today, enjoyed being outside some yesterday. took a LONG nap, and slept really long again last night, guess I needed it!
SUZY, hope your cake is good. Just beware, if you ever start to do something like cook, then you will be expected to continue! hehehe.
OK, I have stuff to do, hate to think about it, but must be off to get some things caught up. You feel unwell a day or two and chores pile up! I will be back to read rest of this page later.

everyone. You have been REALLY talkative! I have nearly 3 pages to read. I've been busy with farm work, trying to get the farm ready for me being away for a few days. I've also been watching some great silent movies.
I need to go turn off the water for the cows, then I'll read about all your goings-on.

One of the reasons that I was away from the site so much yesterday was that I became upset from a nasty PM I received yesterday. I was busy, so when I went to easy I just did the sudoku and posted a comment about it without reading the other posts. I was severely reprimanded for not commenting on something I was supposed to have read, but didn't. Nazis.

June: Thanks, I LOVE Washington State, can't wait to sell this house & move!!! Last time we went we met our niece Heather in Seattle (she lives there) and had dinner at Outback Steakhouse. YUM!! We're going to look at property again, but this time with an agent willing to seriously help us...the last one we met with last year was a flake!

AGGGGGGGGGGHHHH, can I vent a bit?
The company I have been getting my diabetic testing supplies from has gone out of business. thier parent company, a long distance for me to drive, has been bought out and they will take over in August, till then, this company does not have my kind of test strips. My insurance does not have an authorization for diabetic supplies for me, guess that means the company I got them from never phoned them and got it. Means that company never got paid these last 6 months! No wonder they went out of business.
NOW I am trying to find a company that delivers via mail. I will probably have to change what type meter I get too. The one company I was refered to by my insurance ( can only go to approved supply places) is not answering the phone.
I will have to get a NEW prescription sent to wherever I can find someone that does deliver. There are NO medical supply places closer than 30 miles approved by my plan. I have been working on this for over an hour and my BP must be sky high now!
Hope to be back later and in a better mood Thanks for listening.

Congrats, SUZY, you done good! Thanks for the wishes, I am much recovered today.
HEIDI, sorry you were uspet over a PM. Hope you get everything ship shape on the farm fore you leave for your trip and find it all the same when you return.
BRONI, enjoy your stay on the boat, sounds lovely.
SUZANNE, our cool has lasted all day, yesterday and today. Hubby said as we came in a bit ago, he cannot remember temps ever being this lovely mid July. I will take all the days like this I can get, love it, sunny, breezy, low temps, low humidity, like only 35% humidity, totally unheard of and much appreciated.
Would you people please put up a warning sign before talking about chocolate and cream and all good stuff that I cannot have? I will need to put on my bib fore reading them. Drooling here.

Are those insurance people insane MizT??? You'd think that they'd let you get your supplies anywhere that's convenient for you.
I was about to say something about a person's health being the most important thing, but it suddenly came to me that for insurance companies, the almighty dollar
is the only thing that matters.

At least I don't have to worry about any baby finches while I'm gone.
The pair that are nesting now have a LOT of eggs, but they won't hatch until I get back. This pair are red headed like the smilie.

It is nice to appreciate the mild weather, especially knowing it will soon be a different story. Our days have been quite sunny and warm and while at work,I wish I was home in the garden with my back to the sun.
We have been taking many of the residents outside where some of them fall asleep basking in the warmth. They love it.

Heidi, you will become their new best friend, especially Dylan. I know he will bring that tooth to school for show and tell. He had an endoscopy last year and asked the doctor if he could see the pictures of his insides. The doctor was really nice and made an extra copy. Dylan brought that the next day for show and tell.
