Yummy dinner, Heidi. Wish I had known; I could have invited myself! (Do you remember our cooking confessions & my "bacon on a bone?") How is the sweet corn in KY this year? I wanted to buy some, but hubby wasn't interested. Maybe I'll ignore him & just get a couple of ears for me.

Turning into another nice day here.
Have a great party Rolanda.
Welcome back Mariana and MizT.
Hi Julie nice to see you and always enjoy your updates.
Will finish the chest of drawers today. I think it looks good bet I would not get any prises for my work. I have also decided to finish a three drawer one that I started about 8 years ago and struck a few problems.(It was where I am putting the latest one) It does need some carpentry repairs. I can do them as they are inside but I am not much of a carpenter!
Enjoy your new school year Tami. A dedicated teacher always has lots of preparation.

Gail... the tunnel story is funny, but not for claustrophobics. I have heard how tight those Viet Kong tunnels were. The whole system was supposed to be enormous.

Hello Dizzy Lizzy, nice to see you back!
June, tunnel story ... how embarrassing! Poor Ken, how embarrassing!
For those who were wondering - the eclairs are filled and iced and waiting to dry. Haven't tried one to see if they're "up to scratch" - maybe when/if the icing sets. I'll just have to arrange them attractively on a pretty plate. It suddenly occurred to me that if there are children at this shindig they could scoff the lot before the adults get a chance to sample ... I think that would make me feel seriously annoyed after all the fuss and bother! Rob says I'm out of practice, and should try a few more times, till I get them right.... tres amusant, but I see through his cunning plan - we will not fall into the ways of Evil ... not till AFTER the Wedding!

Hi liz, nice to see you back as well. Just enjoy a lovely relaxing afternoon.
We had a loose slate tile near the front door. Has been loose for about a year. I decided to take it out and see if I could glue it back. a corner broke off, I could get it back BEFORE I put the glue in but had problems after. Now back but in several pieces. If I put some lacquer over the top I am sure Ken will never notice.

June, you are certainly a Ms. Fix-It, aren't you? The polishing sounded involved and time-consuming. Now you're telling us about carpentry work and tile setting. You go, Girl! (And I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to put a draw-string in the waist of a pair of pants that were given to me. There had been an elastic waistband, but the elastic has quit returning to its original stretchiness. (Does that make sense?) The person who gave them to me said they were nearly new. She washed them once, and the elastic no longer worked. She figured I would know what to do with them. I could really use them, so am hoping to figure it out. (The elastic was sewn in, so can't be easily slipped out & replaced with a drawstring. Seams are also sewn through the waistband area, so I can't just slip a drawstring in. Maybe I need to sleep on this.)

Thinking positive, happy, healthy thoughts for everyone who visits here. (I'm not going to try to name names tonight.) Enjoy the rest of your day/night, whichever pertains to you. Thank you so much for including Larry (& Jane) in your prayers.

We have an early start tomorrow. My nephew is getting married in Iowa. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pop in. Have a wonderful day, and I hope to get back by our Monday. Take care, Everyone! Good Night!

Not a problem at all Julie, I got to reread some fun and interesting posts. My cat Nibbles is purring away madly whilst draped over my right arm. I have become quite proficient in left-hand typing and am able to wriggle my mouse wrist from side to side, just enough to reach the cursor over the entire screen.

I can guarantee that I won't sleep well tonight. The coughing is still bad, and the fever has returned. I just took it with a new thermometer I bought yesterday. I'm up 3.4 ℉.

I just put a couple of photos on my page. Before and after of the chest of drawers. The flash makes the finish look a bit red in the photo but you can see how much work was involved. The sides were cracked and covered in mould. I did fill cracks and fill any deep hole and scratches but still lots of marks, but not easily seen, and I could do nothing about unless I went right back to bare wood.
