Groan... ouch... I hurt... from eating too much! Took hubby out for dinner for Father's Day and ate way too much, and then came home and had cake!

The restaurant scene from The Meaning of Life comes to mind - even the fish are hiding!

Mama, I went through my first husband's things quite quickly, giving many items to friends, saving some for the kids and the rest went to charity. I think going through them helped me realise that he wasn't coming back. The memories stay with you forever.

Mama, I kind of knew that we were going out to Florida sometime this year quite a while ago but didn't know when it would be as we had to fit in with Richard's cousin. She had trips planned and had been invited to go to Cuba round about the her birthday. She is 60 the day before Richard is 49.
Fionafest was all planned so I didn't expect people to be able to have a big meet with me too.
As Tami said she isn't too far from where we will be staying.

The one thing we have planned to do is drive through the Keys. Other things we will sort out in the run up to the holiday with Susan's help. What is nice is that we may get to see her two sisters too. Richard hasn't seen his cousins Susan and Beverly for over 20 years, the other sister Linda we saw about 5 yrs ago when she came over to England.

Good Morning all!
Just a "Steve-sort-of" fly-by for me.
Loved the quote, Broni! ...and congrats on grandie #2 on it's way.
Brenda - SO excited for you and your trip to Florida.
Heidi - you are so right re: this bug...it is taking weeks to get through - good day, then bad day...think I'm done with it, then it's back.
We put in the jacuzzi tub yesterday (the marble work is finally done) - still has to be caulked and hooked up from underneath, but it is wonderful to have it in place and out of the middle of the master bedroom where it has been sitting for several years! We bought it early because the size was odd and the tub was available at Home Depot for a reasonable price. Glad we got it as it would now probably cost half again what it cost then.

Hoping to do more gardening - just a few more projects to finish up before I leave for Oz. Hope to have pictures of the yard on the travel blog by next weekend.
Also making pear chutney and canning it for C (I know, I know, WAY too early to be mentioning that word) pressies. Have to get that done because I will be limited with time when I get back from my trip down-under. Plus, the pears are in season now - lots in the neighborhood and generous neighbors making this an affordable gift for friends and family.

Happy Father's Day (a bit late) to all the down-under dads!
Someday I'm going to be here when there is someone to talk to...oops - that was yesterday when Brenda and I were here at the same time!
Sorry Brenda - how quickly I forget!
Hugs to everyone.

Suzy..you naughty girl eating too much at the restaurant,I do to and regret it later.
Vici..how did the pear chutney turn out?

IH was talking to someone yesterday who very much wants a collie. I'm gonna put them in touch with the head of our Collie Rescue group. If I can. IH gave me the wrong phone number to call. I'm gonna have to wait until Tuesday to talk to them myself.

VICI, how do you make pear chutney? I was also given some pears, and do not want to make pear preserves, too much sugar in those.

Heidi, remember your saying your area gets more lightning strikes than any area around? Well I think, we are going for the record here. Lightning got into our internet connections and did some damage again. thunder was far off in the distance, had really died down somewhat. I had turned off my computer. Al did not. ONE lightning strike, without any gradually getting closer, and that was it. Oh he was soo angry, I tiptoed out of the room fore any of it spilled out on me. He thought his computer was killed, nope, just one ethernet card bit the dust, actually one of the less expensive parts. It got his keyboard and his hub for the internet. He has ordered parts for that. I fear the cable that runs from house to dome and from one end of house to other is also hit cause of where I saw and heard the flash.

It could have been a lot worse, but we have been hit here , computers or things in house, 5 times now! AND yes, all incoming DAL lines and computers are going through surge protectors, but have not found lightning arrestors or surge protectors for the hard wired network cables.

That is our excitement for the weekend, and more than we needed! I am so thankful it was not worse than it was, we are making progress on protecting computers from lightning.

The new muscle relaxers do not keep me awake, but, they make me very drowsy and uncoordinated. I shall not be operating any dangerous machenery, but I doing pretty well on the keyboard today.

Hope Al is calmer now.

Those muscle relaxers are a nice temporary fix, MizT. But you can't go on like that long term. I REALLY wish I could give you my epidural appointment. It's in 9 1/2 days. But I need this one myself. I was doing pretty well until the fall over Cindy. I must have wrenched the back muscles, too.

Ally has just come home with a cough, runny nose and a headache. No sore throat so far. Sigh.

And where the heck did I get Bronnie from? Apologies Broni!

Gday Viv, great to see you here, but not good to hear you've been crook. Get well soon.

No, not BAD news, just might not be able to make it this week, which is the bad news. We are now doing the back yard and have just had another three metres of mulch delivered. We want to get as much done as we can before the weekend because I am driving over to Adelaide on Sat to bring my father over here for a week or so.
