It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Suzy, how rude for someone to scold you for having a little baby out in public. Almost as bad as the people who must touch every little child. Should be banned during the flu scares!

Judy, what bad timing! You get to carry the bags! Sending thoughts and wishes for successful surgery and a quick recovery...

Julie, the girls' school had a surf shop design the latest uniform. Short skirts, long shorts, all low riders. Stupid! One girl in Ebob's year wears the short skirts with a g-string/thong! I'm told she likes to skip and jump.

Suzy, what unpleasant women - absolute cheek! My babies were all out in public as soon as possible, especially the first (numbers did increase the organisational logistics!)

Judy, thinking good and healing thoughts for Rob. If the surgery is done laparoscopically, at least he won't have large incisions to heal. He still won't be able to lift, though. (I hope all of your luggage has wheels!) Has all the rain washed the dust out of the air?

Julie, my experience was not as bad as the stories I've read recently about strangers spanking other people's children. What were they thinking?

Judy, I have noticed many tiny babies here too. It must be an aussie thing as I didn't think anything of it until I was abused. Of course we didn't have swine flu scares or anything back then.

Suzy, my last year of teaching was at a middle school (sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, so about age 11-14). No bra straps were to be seen peeping out from under a girls' top. Boys were not to let the top of their boxers be seen, so they were supposed to keep their pants pulled up to a reasonable height, though most were well below the waistline. I remember walking down the hall behind a girl wearing a short white skirt made of some rather thin fabric. Her "thong" (probably black) was clearly visible. I was still buying my daughters' underwear and washing their clothes rather often when they were in middle school and wondered what the mother of that girl was thinking.

Julie, it does seem to be really bad timing! I guess we'll just have to limit the amount we carry - keeping Rob from trying to do things will tricky though!

Limiting what you take could have another benefit - reduced extra costs for checked luggage! Just keep reminding Rob that he needs to heal completely. Otherwise, he could be facing a re-do of the surgery later.

Nearly 7 p.m. here, and we haven't eaten our final meal of the day yet. Guess I ought to face the music - and the kitchen. Hope to be back later!

Oh Julie, no dust here, just mud! The dust problems are in NSW and Queensland - at the moment, anyway. Victoria is on it's 4th day of heavy rains.

Yayy for the rain in Victoria - hope it will be drought-breaking.
Suzy - it's an old wives tale not to take a newborn out too soon. I remember being told that when I had Andrew (39 years ago) - but we did as we pleased.
Judy - thought for Rob and his op - hope all is well and that he doesn't do anything too strenuous. 3 weeks to your trip - Wow!

Lizzy, my only real complaint about the weather is that I can't get back into the garden to do the plantibng we have left. I still have apple trees in pots and a gardenia that is screaming to be put in place, surrounded by the azaleas in waiting! etc etc

Suzy, I had something similar, but I didn't have the baby with me. Mitchell was about 2 weeks old and I went with a friend to the bakery. There were all these little, old ladies there. One turned to me and asked when I was due (I still had a belly). I told her the baby was 2 weeks old. She couldn't believe I was out of bed already especially after a c-section. In her day, the mother stayed in bed for at least 2 weeks and it was unheard of to leave a baby home with daddy. My friend and I had the hardest time keeping from laughing.

Thanks everyone for the healing vibes for Rob!
Not sure what time his op will happen, but they're keeping him in overnight.
It's two weeks till the wedding! Next weekend we're having a "Hen's" afternoon - going to a spa, then back here for ... I'm really not sure what! Movies and pizza I think. I will have to clean the house, that's all I know! I don't know much about these things - pretty sure we didn't have anything fancy, chips and dips maybe. I'm feeling very OLD! However, I have fulfilled my organisational obligations, so I am a GOOD Mum! Whoo-hoo!
All four of my babies were Home-Births (it seemed like a good idea at the time!) The last was born in the middle of a nurse's strike, so I think we did pretty well with that one. I had a midwife and a helper and the doctor came for the last bit. 5 minutes from the hopital in case anything unexpected happened, and the doctor did have emergency equipment, so not complete loonies! It was nice, though many people thought we were crazy. @_@ !!

Tami, my Mum just about hyperventilated when she heard how quickly I was out of the hospital with Ebob. Based on my aussie friends they were still staying in for up to a week for a natural birth back then and I was out in about 19 hours - counting the 2 hours before she was born. Mum was yelling down the phone! Did you like the part about my story where they waited until hubby was out of earshot? When I told him he said they were lucky they had or he would have given them an earful!

Judy, one of my neighbors just had her second child about 2 weeks ago. Both of her kids were home births, by her choice. Older brother is about 3 1/2. The little girl is adorable.

One of my sisters had her babies at home and another one wanted her fourth at homje but problems dictated that this was not to be. My first one I chose to have in a hospital being quite young and inexperienced but the follow-up situation with my births meant I was never able to home-birth, though I had wished it for my other three.

My dog is dusty too, Broni and she'll have to wait for a bath until Wednesday because we're going to the beach (Tallebudgera) tomorrow. Karin and her family are there on hols and we're taking Andrew's 3 girls down for the day. Hope it's warm because I don't think I'll escape having to go for a swim with the kids.

Cyn, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Judy, you have a full schedule right now...

Broni, dogs do count. They can be just as much work!

Cyn I probably broke the news of my Florida trip 3 weeks back, it had been on the cards since earlier this year but didn't know when it was going to be. Tami knew as I had told her, so yes I am hoping to meet up with her and Bobbi and hopefully the Beasy boys.
We are going to stay with Richard's cousin whom he hasn't seen for over 20 yrs. We got back in touch with her through FB and Skype. Richard's family are hopeless atr keeping in contact so it will be nice to catch up with her and hopefully her sisiters too.

Hello friends! So many exciting trips coming up...Brenda, Judy and I will all be on the road about the same time.
Judy - keeping good thoughts for Rob - and a speedy recovery so he can at least carry bags on your way home.
Packing light - something I was going to do until Cyn's warning. It wouldn't be a problem for me, but one whole suitcase is already packed with Halloween costumes and decor! Guess you all will be seeing me in the same outfits over and over and over again.

Do cat's count? I'm with Broni and Lizzie...and just grateful I didn't have to give birth to that cat in order to be her mom!
Suzy - I was appalled at those women and their scolding!
I am for sure not a "fly by the seat of my pants" person...but sure wish I was. Grew up with a compulsive/obsessive mom and had a lot of that ingrained in me.
I am proud to say that (like Brenda) there is dust enough in my house that I wish I had the dust storm as an excuse, too!

Heading out early to Reno today.
Acupuncture and Costco shopping. Makes for a very long day. Especially getting home and putting away all the purchases. Haven't done the "big shopping" in over 6 months and will have lots to contend with when I get home this afternoon.

Just dropping in to say goodnight.

Vici, maybe you could mail the halloween stuff?

Hmmm photos.... I have an old one of the girls in my wallet. The only photos on my phone are ones Ally has taken. Neglectful?

I love my dogs. They look very scary, but would lick you to death if you came in the yard! At least I hope so - I haven't seen what they are like if we aren't home and they don't know the visitor. My next door neighbour wouldn't come in the yard for years, now he's in here all the time whether we're home or not (looking after horses).

Getting late! Thanks to those who sent get well wishes for Rob - we arrived at the hospital at 8.00am - he went into theatre at about 4.00pm! He sounded very weak and weary when he finally rang me (maybe hunger contributed!), but said he wasn't in too much pain. I'll pick him up some time tomorrow, so another day of waiting around ... hope he has a good night.
And a good night to you all! :)
