Wow! Have I got some days to catch up on again, so will keep 2 tabs open and comment as I go.
ROLANDA, a PVR is a personal video recorder, that (I think) allows you to record 2 different TV channels at the same time and records to hard disk. It probably does other stuff too. I got a shock when D accessed our wireless internet via her Wii attached to our new TV. It baffles me.
BEAN, meat and 7 veg is my idea of the perfect meal, finished off with GAIL's pav. Divine.
GAIL, Mum used to top her pavs with either a tin of tropical fruit cocktail or strawberries, kiwi fruit and blueberries. The meringue part used to stay crunchy all the way through for the ones she made for many years, but her later ones were marshmallowy on the inside. She never worked out what she did differently.

TAMI, S1 certainly was my best Christmas present ever, but 36 hours of labour 7 weeks early, a rush ambulance trip of 110km in midsummer with no aircon in the ambulance back, having to hold my drip in the air myself, and having 7 medical staff in the room with me wasn't much fun (having so many doctors scared me more, although I'm lucky they were there). Most of that Christmas Day was spent wondering if he would survive. The 36 hours was probably very hard on him too. Thanks everyone for his birthday wishes.

Susan, sorry to hear you had such a difficult labor. I am glad things worked out in the end. S1 was an 18 hour labor, S2 was only 4 but it was like a comedy routine. The maternity ward was overbooked and they had no place for me. I was in 4 different rooms in 4 hours. they got me to the delivery room with about 5 minutes to spare.

and did I mention that on the day S2 was born, I went to work at 9:00am left at 10:30, drove myself to the hospital, got there by 11:00 and he was born shortly before 3:00pm. I called my mom to tell her I was at the hospital and she asked "what was I doing in the hospital?" The obvious escaped her.

Tami, since he was born in the very early hours, Christmas night was great. 4 hours sounds good to me, but in one room!
I got exactly what I wanted for Christmas - a good quality cutlery set to replace my 24 year old one, and I can buy all the extra pieces to match, and a very colourful salad bowl. I was so sick of my old fashioned ones, and can't believe how much better a salad looks in it. I picked them myself of course, but got hubby to pretend to the kids that he did. I get what I want this way.

Aah, just read that Suzy does the same thing for her pressies!! I did get some beautiful perfume and other things too, that I didn't pick.
SUZY, how did you get to marry a Californian? Were you over there working / on holidays, or did you meet here?

MizT, thanks for the great idea of turning Christmas cards into gift cards for next year. D will love doing that, and it will give her something to do on these long school holidays.

Susan, the adults on my side of the family trade names. You buy one gift and you get one gift. My mom get me for the second year in a row. Somehow she always buys exactly what I want

Tami, we don't buy gifts for the adults except Mum, except that my 2 sisters and I exchange birthday gifts. Mum buys all adults gifts, which has now become a pain as I have to organise all the birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts and cards on her behalf, which I worked out to 60 gifts a year. Next year I'll be buying vouchers in bulk.

Hi folks....VERY slow start here in downtown Melbourne... From the way the house is heating up I suspect it is very hot outside...haven't poked my nose out yet...been reading, playing scrabble, [badly], eating chocolate and most importantly catching up here...that took a while!!

Hi Judy...I think Heidi is correct about photos's - once you post them on Flickr they have rights to them. That is probably the major reason I don't use flicker apart from the fact I don't really like the way it works.
I resize the photo's on
http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ [600 pixels size]
Next you hit download and then I just upload to my page using the 'Update Details' on my page. It is VERY simple...needs to be for me..I am not very computer savvy at times!

Afternoon all!
Broni, I laughed when you said to sit and read a good book to change my day around - That was the problem. My mother caught me playing on the computer and decided it was time to tell me (again) about a friend of hers whose DIL does absolutely nothing around the house and it is disgusting. Of course she always times these stories for when she catches me doing something she doesn't approve of... I have actually read a book 2 days in a row this week so I've heard variations on the 'lazy wife' story a few times...

Good maeN Sudoluland! It is my bedtime. the storm and cold front that was due tomorrow is comming early. Technically it will be tomorrow but does not look like it will wait till daylight.
I HATE NIGHT TIME STORMS! Looks like maybe 3 to 4 am, I best get me to bed and get what sleep i can fore it arrives. Not a history of tornadoes in this one, just thunder storms, but it bears watching. AND temps will be dropping for the next 24 hours. High for the day will be in the 60's at midnight, it is still 67 here at almost 11 pm, oh my. Will be in the 40's by tomorrow afternoon, and 30's overnight, brrrrr. Well, that is what it should be December and January, but it has been so warm it is ging to hurt to be cold again. today got to 75, and broke a record for this date.

Susan, I was working for Dow Corning in Sydney and they sent me OS. It coincided with Expo in Brisbane and I argued that since I would miss Expo I wanted to take a week in LA at the beginning of my trip. My boss arranged it because he wanted to do the same thing when it was his turn to go OS. Met hubby on the first day, saw him almost every day for that week, met his parents on the way to the airport. Talked on the phone, wrote letters... he flew to Australia 6 months later and proposed, I flew to LA 6 months after, he flew to Australia 6 months after that for the wedding, we flew back to the US and stayed there for 10 years...

JAZZY,
to Sudokuaholics page, glad to see you hear. Hope your job hunt goes well, you never know where you will hear of that perfect job, so keep your eyes and ears open!
Yes, I can help you with an avatar if you like and if you can tell me what you would like. A name avatar? or something that you are interested in? I have a lot of graphics in my print shop and might find what it is you want, let me know.

SUZY, that might be a good idea, but I would not be too comfy sleeping in my clothes. I might sleep in my shirt so all I have to do is slip on my trousers. I do need to get my rain jacket and my "survival kit" ready to go. You know, the things you most would not want to be without if you were stuck out there a while.

Hi again - sorry I ran off : started looking through my photos, then tried to identify where a few were taken, one thing led to another ... you know how it is - Spent the next hour or so cruising tourist sites in Germany!
Thanks for all your advice everyone, I'll take a while to work it all out, but I'll get there. (I've also taken my photos off Flickr till I know more about things)
