If anyone is about, I wouldn't mind a wee hug.
Got more news about Mum this morning that sent us all into 'get to Adelaide' mode, but she is in good hands, so we are awaiting the next bit of news before we all make the decision to go over there.

It was nice having all the family together for Christmas. The Melbourne lot drove back today and should be home now. Thought we would have a quiet night to ourselves but had to pick up a girl as her mother was not feeling well. Laura spent a night here with the boys and got to know her cousins. She had a great time as we also took them all to the beach in the late afternoon and had fish and chips while we were there.

I have not read yet how everyone else spent the day but I imagine you all enjoyed your Christmas and all ate far too much.

Today we joined the after Christmas shopping spree. I now have all next years Christmas cards.
We also bought a new flat screen TV. We did not qualify for Mr. Rudd's bonus and spent some of our fast disappearing dollars!
You do realise it is the cricket and Tennis season with lots of sport for hubby to watch!

Our girls go home today - Ali teaches and is off for a couple more weeks, but Melissa has to go back to work tomorrow. It was a wonderful visit with them this time...and I was glad we had some snow for them. They built a silly little snowman yesterday. Then we played Mexican Train dominos, which they bought their dad for Christmas, after eating fresh crab and sourdough - it's in the stores right now, so we eat it when we can. We had some leftover that I'm going to make crab cakes with today.

Tomorrow my good friend, Jeanie from Fort Collins, Colorado, will be coming up for a two day visit - no time to clean the house between guests - good thing she is like family. We are hoping to go snow shoeing while she is here.

Good morning all! Hope everyone had lovely celebrations! We had a wonderful Christmas and then we (except my in-laws who didn't want to come) went to celebrate xmas with my family down in New Jersey yesterday.

Gail, hugs and prayers to you and your family. I hope your mum is ok!

Don't have time to catch up on everything. Hope those that were sick are on the mend and feeling better!

Doing well Vici!! Have a couple of trips to do to the city this week, as DIL's (rather than the usual Mum's) Taxi. Not looking forward to that too much. I wouldn't mind so much if she wasn't the worst back seat passenger driver ever. She's never felt confident driving in the city herself, I've been doing it for 30 years without an incident. Usually I nicely say, 'It's OK, you relax and leave it to me' This time I might say what I'm always thinking....

OK I stuffed up there. What do you call a back seat driver who's sitting in the front passenger seat?

Was it Gail asking me about Chrome? One advantage that I have noticed when on this site, is that with IE, if I brought up my smileys to use on this page, then went to Easy or my page, I'd have to call up my smileys again. With Chrome, once I bring them up, I can use them on any page.

Susan - I would still call your MIL a back-seat driver, even if she sits in the front seat! I think you sound very patient with her. My mom was the same way - use to pound her foot on the floor of the car as if she had brakes!

Vici, my right foot is always pressed firmly to the floor when S1 is driving!!!!! But, I keep my mouth shut and don't let on that my foot is nearly scraping the bitumen. S2 will be on the road in a few months. That will be very scary. MIL provides a nonstop commentary of road conditions, traffic, signs etc. - very distracting.

Hugs (yes, more than one) to Gail.

Susan- I remember when I started driving. My mom would gasp every few seconds and it made me really nervous. I've had a license for almost 6 years now and I refuse to drive if she's in the car. I'm just afraid that she might hyperventilate!

Mawn Sudokuland! Storm was not significant by the time it got tous, just lots of rain, thankfully. Many thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Nope, did not have to run to shelter in my jammies! Got to stay in my bed right through it. I was unable to fall asleep last night, just could not get comfy. Cold fronts approaching do that to my old bones most of the time. So I was watching radar and saw the storm break up before I went to sleep sometime around 1 am. With that late getting to sleep I have been very late getting up and about today.

I gave up waiting on a sunny day to wash towels, they were piling up. so I fed the machine and now must go feed them into the dryer. I do not use the dryer often, but it is 3 more days till sun is mentioned, I could not keep waiting and producing MORE dirty towels!

My last wash of wearing clothes had to be hung on clothes hangers and the hangers hung on the shower curtain rod in the hall bath. I am glad to have a place to hang them, and with a fan turned on them, they do dry, even in damp warm weather. Now if it is cold and we have heat, No problem, they dry nicely. Did I mention it has been a week or more since we had a sunny day?

I just had a short chat on IM with Ouima (Mamacita). She is just back from her Christmas visit to Florida. Said although the flight is not long, the delays and waiting and 2 hours to the airport made for a long day. She will drop back in once she has rested. she reports a very busy time, on the go every day while there, but sounds like she had a great time.

Morning all!
Just a reminder that the memorial page will expire in a couple of days if you want to go for one more visit.
MizT, glad the storm broke up. Imagine how little sleep you would have had if it hadn't since you didn't fall asleep until almost morning!
Susan and June proud owners of BIG TV's. Hubby has tried to talk me into one a few times but so far I'm winning.
MizT, I washed towels yesterday - the sun was shining but a storm was forecast... looked at the pile, looked at the sky... decided to go for it and got lucky this time. The day before we went from clear skys to thunder and lightening in about 5 minutes flat!
Susan d1 will get her Ls in February!!!??? eeeek!
Vici, I like that kind of friend...
June, your Xmas sounds wonderful. It must have been hard to see the family drive away.

Today I hope to find light fittings in the after Xmas sales. Then choose a colour for the lounge room. And maybe a colour for the kids' rooms.
