DotCom - welcome to the site!! It sometimes gets very interesting around here - but it is populated by a really wonderful group of folks.
I suspect you will shortly get help from those that REALLY know how to do those things - I think if you go to the Forum page there are helpful links for a lot of that stuff.

Welcome to the site and to your own page DotCom. That's a funny name your parents gave you. Do you go by any other names? At any rate, enjoy my traditional page arming gift, a double chocolate fudge beavertail pastry from Ottawa. Have fun here, and cheers!

Welcome to the site! I'm not sure if it is still the same as long ago, but those of us who are supporting members ($15 AU) used to get enhanced capabilities with smileys and also no advertisements! This is an amazing group of people and we follow one another's families through the years!

About the free tool and how you get paid, you have to become a distributor in order to do that. The tool, however, if free for all and will save you a lot if you use it when buying online.

I just bought a Plustek OpticFilm 7600i Ai online and the genie found the best price for me at a place in NYC that is now my favorite store for anything having to do with photography!

If you are looking for some income then this could be a great vehicle. It is fairly new and is just moving into a lot of other countries! If you want to talk about it just ping me and we can chat on the phone or on Skype!

If you head up here to Orlando we could sit down over coffee or drinks as well!

Anyway, enjoy this community. There is more care and love here than you would ever expect!

Hi DotCom. On the Easy page today, you asked - 'We have all seen rocks under water but it takes real talent to think of photographing them. Similarly, we have all seen babies sleeping but a friend of mine actually took a photo of his baby daughter sleeping. Everybody does sunrises, sunsets, flowers, pets and people smiling at the camera. Anybody have another idea?'
I am no expert, but to my mind the first essential is to recognise something has the potential to make a good photo.
Then, before you point your camera at it, pause for a moment and have a think about how it might be improved - different angle, lighting, telephoto or close-up etc.
Having decided, point the camera, steady it if possible and squeeze the shutter button slowly.
Try other angles if you have the time.
It also helps to have a decent photo processing program on your computer so you can level the horizon, change the exposure or contrast and crop your photos.
Then practice...and practice...and be critical of your photos.
Good luck.

Hi DotCom,
It's my pleasure. Please bear in mind that I am no expert, just an enthusiastic amateur. Your camera and Picassa 3 will do the job OK, so it is up to you now. Look at other people's photos and mentally criticise their work - how could you improve the photo.
Of all the rubbish I have said, probably the most important is the pause to think just before you take the photo.
Enjoy.
