Hi everyone. sat home all morning waiting for the company to come install my new satelite dish. They showed up and after looking in the attic told me that my cable company laid the cables in my house the wrong way and they would have to drill 4 holes and lay new cable for the satelite. As I live in a development with a home owners associated, I need to get permission from the board of directors. I don't own the outside of my townhouse, only the inside. of course, the office is closed for a long weekend so I have to call monday, get permission in writing, and then reschedule. I am not in a good mood. I am really mad at Comcast Cable.

I'm back.
Vici.... Your YouTube is a scream!!!!

The Doc says it's Achilles Tendonitis. That's what I suspected, but considering all the metal in the region, I felt it was better having the surgeon check it out. I think the poor guy may have damaged his eardrums. When he touched the area that hurt, I really screamed. I get to take out my power tools now and make a little ramp to stretch the tendon a bit each day. He said that it could take 4 months to heal, and I need to exercise it.

Ooooooh Tami. You're not the first person I've heard gripe about Comcast, but I have never heard of them laying the cables the wrong way. Yikes. That really is incompetent.

Tami, Grrrrr (note the capital G?).

Heidi, I guess it's good news that it's not related to the metal. 4 months is a long time, but I have heard it can take up to 2 years. When hubby hurt his achilles tendon I lied to him and told him physio was completely covered by our insurance. He had the physio and was better relatively quickly, so your little ramp sounds like a very good idea!

Tami, my day should not have even started yet! It will be a good day though as I will be meeting friends for coffee, including one who is visiting after moving away. I'm looking forward to it!

Nola, the line was for the tv. When they first installed the cable it was for 2 tvs. Then the boys came along and my mom got them their own tvs a few years ago. When the cable company came out to wire the kids rooms, they split it off the main cable in a giant loop. For the satelite to be installed, they need seperate cables for each room and not a giant loop. Now I have to wait for permission from the association to drill 4 new holes in my house.

Okay, I give up on my New years resolution already and will post again.

Tami, that sounds horrible! I hope there is a good side to living in a place where you can't do things to your own home!!

That sounds like a nightmare to me, Suzy. I also don't understand anyone living in communities with Homeowners associations. They can dictate style and color of house, style and color of mailbox, landscaping, lifestyle, hours and numbers of friends that can visit, etc. You might as well live in a communist country.

Nola, I have tv. I was just switching from cable to satelite. Luckily I didn't cancel the cable, I was waiting for the guy to be done. My computer is through the phone line, but not dial-up.

Heidi, it is not that bad. I can, and do, have as many visitors as I want. The only restrictions are on the outside. I bought this house as new construction when I was pregnant with Mitchell. It was all that was available, in my price range, in a neighborhood I wanted to be in.

My closing was funny. my closing date was a week before my due date. At closing, the were afraid I was going to go into labor. Luckily, or unluckily, Mitchell was 5 days late, so we had a chance to get slightly settled in the house. We didn't have a lot of furniture. We moved from a 1 bedroom apartment into a 3 bedroom house. The nursery furniture was delivered here.

Tami, I think I would rather mess up the settlement than be 5 days overdue!!!!

I was planning on going on maternity leave 2 weeks before my first was due. In that 2 weeks we were planning on buying things like cots and diapers. She was 3 weeks early!! Luckily my niece held a baby shower for us a couple of days before she was born and, amongst other things, we were given a stroller and a car seat. I had her at 9.30pm and was discharged from hospital around 11 the next morning - no time for hubby to shop. She slept in the stroller her first 2 nights home!

Suzy, I wasn't happy that he was 5 days late. I did not have a say in the matter. He has a mind of his own. His younger brother was nicer to me, he was 8 days early.

You could say that s1 thought he was being thoughtful... letting you get settled first. Or maybe he knew what was going on and didn't want to come until he had his own room?

He has gotten better. He wakes up with his alarm and fixes his own breakfast. If he misses his bus he knows he will be in a lot of trouble so he has improved.
