Welcome back Julie!

MizTricia, I'll join you for some of that coffee. Can't believe I woke up so early again today! Though it is nice to be up when it is still cool and quiet.

I see you there Heidi, and I even TOPPed so you could come and say hello...

Mum is enjoying a few days in Sydney with family she hasn't seen in years (decades?). These are the people who invited us to the family Xmas party in Sydney this year.

Good morning lovely SA7 people - a bit cooler here today. MizT - yes it is unusual for us to have our air-con on for that long. Usually it cools down at night so it was a shock to have it on for so long.

Overcast here today. I think we should do something fun though. Maybe we should go bowling? I'll run it past the family when they eventually wake up.

Trying to nap on and off. No luck. IH interrupts me each time. So I'm listening to The Shadow while doing jigsaws. I'll feed the critters in an hour or so.

Nola, enjoy the grandkids. It is hard when you do not see them on a more regular basis.16 month old twin girls must be fun.
CynB and Tami, you both sound as though you have enjoyed the holiday season.
Must do some shopping this morning. I have to get some lettuce as I am looking after some tadpoles for Laura and that is what they eat!

Oh Grandma June - the things we do for our grandies - tadpoles! My grandson once had a rhinoceros beetle for a pet- I think it eventually died of old age (or boredom).

My internet connection is weird again this morning and I keep losing posts....

Nola - so happy for you that you are getting this wonderful time with your grandies!

June - I didn't know that about tadpoles... my fact for the day from sudoku... Is Laura home with Mum right now?

Broni - it sounds like you will have a wonderful day! I hope it stays overcast for you. I have just put on a sloppy joe and put a blanket over my knees.

Cyn - a rhinocerous beetle? Definitely different...

Heidi, about time you trained your dogs to round up IH and keep him away from you hehe!
Zusy why are you waking so early?
MizT, I agree the horror scopes have not changed.
Cyn, going to seriously look at air con, getting too old to cope with this heat and was turning into a prune in the pool!
Tami, yeah! eat dessert first!
June, I have lettuce in the garden but think the possums are enjoying that along with my parsley and bok choy

It must be grandies day today - we are all meeting at the park by the boat ramp (on Logan River) and the boys are putting the boat in and taking the kids out one or two at a time for a ride - they love it. We girls, of the grown-up variety will sit about in comfy chairs sipping coffee out of a flask - none of us is eager to start back on champers just yet! Enjoy your day, Broni.

Suzy, I watched a documentary on the green bell frog last night and they were feeding the tadpoles boiled lettuce. Laura's eem OK on fresh lettuce.
Laura will be at home till 13 Jan. We will probably go to the farm tomorrow or Sunday and will pick her up and take her so she can ride the horses.
Broni, not sure how I survived before aircon. Do not use it all the time but sometimes I use the one in the bedroom just to cool the room before going to sleep.

June - so true about air-con. I survived more than 50 years without one but now, even though I try not to use it excessively like other people I know, it's like a security blanket - it's there when I need it! (Like this week).

Hi all - just put up a new youtube on my page...it does a lovely job of summing up the year and with song, too! Of course, it will probably mean more to the topsiders than to the Aussies, but I hope you will all go check it out.

I just had a short chat with Gail on MSN instant messenger. She still cannot sign on to the page to send, but she said she can read. She "wants to thank everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers."

"We just heard that she has been scheduled for surgery next Friday. sister who spent the night with mum last night said that mum is very tired and could we limit our visits to short ones so mum can get some rest. "

Gail says she is still a little numb about it all, but she is sleeping nights, pretty well considering. She might go home for a while, then come back just before the surgery, to see her Mom off for that. Scott is being very supportive, said whatever she needs to do is fine with him.

She said she misses everyone here terribly and is thinking about creating a free account to be able to post to the board. She does need to ask since she is on a borrowed computer, and cannot ask till tonight.

She sends love to all her SA friends, and wishing a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, one that is better for everyone.

Bean, I couldn't agree more. Why can't we just live in peace? Surely, war / terrorism is no more fun for 'the other side' than it is for us? And Afghanistan, pull out or stay and fight an unwinnable war? How can we not fight when we know the Taliban condones r*ping young boys and honour killing, won't allow girls to be educated etc? We are unbelievably lucky to live in a free country - paying too much for fuel or high taxes is a small price to pay for that. We are also so lucky that we have people brave enough to risk their lives to protect us and help others. Next time I whinge about the heat, please slap me!!!!

Happy NEW Year to all...
Glad all have had a wonderful holiday..mine continues...my grandee is here with me..Reina and Angelique are not coming now because its so very cold here and she'd have to buy lots of heavy clothes for both of them which would cost too much money for just a few days that they'd wear them so they will wait until the weather is not so cold.
As for Gail's Mum...my thoughts, wishes and prayers go out to her and to the rest of the family...May God direct them in their choice and strenthen them for His Will...May all find Peace when it comes to them!

To all of you who follow and contribute to these pages...I thank you sisters and friends for being there for each other when ever you are needed...one doesn't have to be around all of the time to be considered a friend...in this world of disharmony, we are fortunate to find peace and good will on this site...as a recipient of the many hugs and glad tidings from around the globe, you have strengthened my idea of true friendship...those who will tell you when you are wrong, smile with you in joy, console you in sadness, laugh with you, dance or cry as the mood dictates...recognize your imperfections and still are happy to say ..."this is my friend"...I send a deeply felt for touching me in so many ways....May 2009 be all that can be imagined...peace, good will to all!
