Suzy, it wasn't to lose the use of half the house, they were re-housed in caravans and were not allowed to live in their houses at all.
How is Ally today?

Good Mean Sudokuland!

I am having coffee, will you join me?

YEAH, no pipes frozen today. Temps were warmer than expected overnight by about 14 degrees, it did not go below freeze. The wind had shifted, bringing in moisture from the gulf so we are no longer on fire alert. Today temps shall be spring like, life is good!

I did not speak with Heidi yesterday, she said she hoped to get to the public computers today, if she does not drop in today I will phone her again. Heidi's forecast is for warmer today also, 52F (11C) and 42 tonight (5C) with SUN.

Susan, so happy you got clothes washed! And that you can get to grocery also. Yes, after not having our conveniences we do appreciate them so much more when they return.

I have not asked Heidi how she is doing laundry! Now the town has power, perhaps a laundromat? Washateria? what do DUGs call a public laundry facility where you pay to use their machines?

Hubby is still sleeping, think I will go to sewing room and do a little bag for daughter, for valentines day. she has a lot of trinkets and memorabilia, she needs bags to store them in, and I have some sun/moon fabric she would love! A bag would be easy to mail and better than just a card.

Later, friends.

Was about to post last night when Meghan called. She wanted me to look over a speech she is giving today. I don't know why she is nervous because she was always a great speaker. Somehow, she thinks she wasn't. She has to go to a Forum about Grants and Fellowships. Since she received a grant to go to Egypt last summer, she has to give a presentation on that and her experience. All of the bigwig donors and professors will be there. The really bad part is that she has to miss classes for it and she already missed a bunch of classes last week because she was very ill.

Snowing here again and temps way down the scale with no sign of much improvement for a while.
Not being able to go out much has given me time to knit and I have nearlybfinished the sweater I started at the weekend. Trouble is I cannot get out to buy more wool to start another project

Brendan broke his arm when he was 3 (actually, Meghan broke it for him. He cut in front of her when they were jumping off the bed so she tried to pull him back and he fell on his arm.) I was 8 months pregnant with Bryana and Jerry was out of town. Brendan didn't cry. The Ped dr thought it wasn't broken because he wasn't crying but I wanted to make sure. Was able to see an Ortho in his office right away. He knew it was broken right away and the xray confirmed it. Normally, the parent would sit the child on their lap for the xray with the shield on them. But since I was pregnant, the doctor did it. He was fantastic. Brendan only cried when the doc had to set his arm back in place since it was a clean break straight through. Brendan had to hold his arm over his head to prevent swelling. It was the funniest thing seeing a 3 yr old trying to hold a heavy full arm cast over his head. It healed so perfectly that you couldn't tell that it was ever broken. On a sad note, that ortho doc died a few years later of a brain tumor. His nurse said he always helped the little kids with their xrays unprotected. He was the best doctor I've ever met!

Stella, I can't imagine a 3 year old with a broken arm! Last night Ally lost it. Cold hearted parents that we are we basically told her that we felt bad for her, but there is nothing we can do, and she needs to decide whether she really wants to be unhappy for the next several weeks and to find something to be happy about. You can't do that with a 3 year old! It's a bit tough on a 12 year old I think.

MizTricia, glad your weather is warming up. Spring like weather sounds perfect! I'm looking forward to Monday when our tops are expected to be in the early to mid 20's (70's). I hadn't thought of Heidi's laundry either! Would she leave the fire alone long enough for that???

Good Morning everyone

My pooter problems relate to the monitor.. which is not even 12 months old, and is broken. Hopefully will get a NEW (under warranty) replacement next week, meanwhile using an old monitor on my pooter.

I have bombarded everybody with links to 'thirsty koala's'...it is heartbreaking to see our wildlife suffering. If everyone could put out water in areas where there are large populations it will help.
Anybody that would like a copy please send me your addy or just google drinking koala.
