MizT - I'm sending you some of our humidity and a few degrees in temperature. At present we are 24c 67 humidity - at this time of night 10.15pm, I can manage happily with 19-20C and 40 humidity. Enjoy! Off to bed soon, night all. Happy things are improving for Susan - but a shame we're not close enough to help with the clean-up. Hope things get better for Heidi and that she gets her power back soon. I miss her posts.

Sorry, I didn't mean to steal that TOPP, having got one on the previous page. I didn't even look at the counter to realise we were nearly there.
MizT - very innovative - the horsey, I mean. Ciao!

Suzy, good thing you didn't give Ally a bell to summons you if she needed something.
Many years ago we made that mistake with my first mother in law when she had to stay in bed for a while. Husband soon took the bell off her and said that we would look in on her every half hour.
MizT I bet if your daughter's father had had to do all the lifting and carrying he would have got the wheelchair.

Susan, so pleased to hear that flooding has subsided but not that you have all that slime to clear up. Someone must have been interveening on your behalf so that you didn't lose power.

Good Maen dear ones!
Victoria - for the update from Susan before she posted...good and bad - was wondering all along with the flooding when the sewers would be an issue.
Susan - hope your clean-up goes well and that you don't have to work on more blisters because of more flooding.

MzT - what a great story about the wheeled horse...wondering if Suzy has something like that around for Ally - I know they have a real horse available who REALLY wants to come in the house!!! I'm thinking that's a NO from you, Suzy!

Congrats on the TOPP Cyn - never apologize for good timing!
A big kudos for Lachlan and his installation into the Scouts. My brother and nephew were both Eagle Scouts and they are both very good men because of that association.

Don't anyone comment on the time...
Tonight we went to a Leonard Cohen concert...Oh boy...it was fantastic. He is absolutely amazing...when I consider his age [75] words fail me... Hope I can still skip along at his age!
We can't complain we didn't get our money's worth.
He must of been on the stage for 3hrs...

Paul Kelly came on as support act and then the big guy came on at 8pm and it must have gone until about 11pm...he kept coming back and doing encore after encore. A lot of the songs moved me to tears...and to try to harmonise until a swift jab in the ribs reminded me where I was...SOMEBODY said he wanted to hear the man!! Huh..next time I go alone!

Eventually got home well after 12MN...have played some scrabble and spent a bit of time here reading and catching up on the latest news.

So relieved to hear that Susan's flood level has finally subsided...not so impressed to hear about the sewerage!! Too tired to remember what else I was going to say.

Hope to catch a few of you in a few hours...

Good Morning, World! Well, we are the world, aren't we?

Susan, so glad the water has subsided! So sorry you now must deal with the mess it left behind!

Suzy, my best to you and Ally - hoping she can get some sleep at night and sing without pain on Saturday!

MizT, you're one of those people who think "outside the box." I am always amazed at the clever solutions you propose for various (sometimes difficult) situations!

Congrats to CynB for her TOPPs!

And now, CRAFT's disease has taken over, so I'll just say again, I'm hoping for moderation temperatures and humidity for everyone. Rapid healing hoped for all those in need. Now, I must attack some ffuts.

OH VICI, Ally does not need a horsey! she just needs innovative ways to be as independent as she can! I giggle when I think about Ally on a horsey hehehe.

Good News, I have cold water at the kitchen again and the hall bathroom again. I owe an apology to husband, he says he did turn water on to a trickle last night, it froze anyway. I am wondering where it is freezing? Perhaps where it leaked recently and the insulation got wet and perhaps has fallen down? Now I am not going to shimmy up under this house to find out! Just so glad it thaws early and so far no damage.

Congratulations to the new Boy Scout. Wish him great success.

VIV, great orders again, you done good!

Brenda, I am sure you are correct, but her father just had to work late the entire time she was unable to walk on that foot. Work was always easier for him than dealing with life.

CYN, if I had been paying attention to numbers, I could have got that Topps!

I must be away to the shower. I need to do the weekly gathering of provisions, and pay a bill today. Lovely sunny day today, even if still cold. Hubby is not yet sure if he wants to go or not. Not a problem today, do not need him for driving I am able to do it all myself today, yeah!

Up in the middle of the night - thanks to my dog deciding to bark at nothing - not impressed!
Beanie - my brother saw Leonard Cohen on Tuesday night. He said it was fantastic - now we're sorry we were too mean to pay $270 each for a ticket. He'll possibly never make it down under again.
Think I might go back to bed now, puppy has settled and I can't keep my eyes open.

As well as being invested into scouts, Lachlan received a Grey Wolf award - apparently the top award one can get as a cub scout and a commendation for working so hard to get it so quickly. He only joined in March 2007. His other Grandma and I had a tear in our eyes - we were so proud of our lovely boy.

Congratulations for Lachlan on his scouting achievements. A wonderful organisation for kids to be involved in.
Susan, I do not envy you that clean up. Be careful with those blisters and contaminated water. Please do not get them infected.

Morning all!
MizT, I loved your inventiveness with the wheeled horsy. Typical husband - doesn't bother him so it can't be a problem! I'm guessing you were a tad tired after those 9 weeks!

Cyn, wish we had your 40% humidity! Glad you got a nice sleep, which you would have at those temps.

Brenda, thanks for the warning about the bell! I haven't seen my phone since I talked to Susan so will have to search for it now - anything to avoid the bell!

Vici, you are right! No lawn mowers IN the house... What is the difference between a Scout and an Eagle Scout - or is there no difference? Just curious - my new fact for the day from Sudoku..

Bean, I have to comment on the time = eeeeek! Jon English didn't spend that much time on stage and he is probably 10 years younger! Very impressive. Opening a Leonard Cohen youtube as I speak...

MizT, I was so glad to read that you are driving yourself to do the shopping and bill paying. You must be feeling a bit better! The shimmying under the house on the other hand....

Mariana, I haven't told Ally that there is a back up plan. If she falls apart on the night someone is going to fill in for her... Not that that will be easy to arrange as the music is recorded in the order the performers will be singing....

Wow Cyn! No wonder you are so proud of Lachlan, he must be an incredible young man to achieve what he has!! I wish him the best for his future in Scouts...

June, if I'd woken a little earlier I might have had someone to chat with! Hope you have gone back to bed now...

Good things this morning - there is a teachers' strike/meeting until 10.30am so Ebob can sleep in, the lucky coincidence of the hair appointment means we don't have to decide between her sitting in the school playground for 2 hours and leaving my sickie at home while I deliver her to school later, I get to sit and read the news for an extra hour (or get up and do ffuts - haven't decided yet).. a good morning, except for being alone in here.

More rain forecast for Susan, conditions worse than those during the Ash Wednesday fires for Victoria this weekend, more snow in Britain stopping transport and closing schools, depending on which weather forecast you look at we could be getting 37C/98.6F here this weekend, Florida colder than normal, and I can't find a story about Heidi so will go and look at wunderground - think that's what it was called... not too far above freezing, below in some places. Next week will be better, next week will be better, next week will be better...

Suzy, next week WILL be better! I think we are to get some rain then. Although I do not like the humidity I hope it keeps high over the weekend so we have less chance of too many bush fire.
My theory is the sun has so much energy to distribute and if somewhere is getting it very hot, somewhere else is getting it very cold! That seems to be the problem at the moment.

How is Ally this morning? I remember Sharon not missing a days school when she broke her arm (could possibly have been a Friday but I think she still had some movement in the elbow).

News story of the day in honour of Lachie and Vici's brother and nephew...

Scouts Help Save Ky. Couple's Lives
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A troop of Boy Scouts are being credited with saving the lives of a western Kentucky couple.
The group of Marion, Ky., scouts went door-to-door to check on people without power and deliver meals.
When they stopped at one home, the woman who answered wasn't coherent. The scouts then called for help.
After paramedics checked the woman out, they realized that she and her husband had been exposed to toxic levels of carbon monoxide.
The couple's generator was apparently too close to the door.
The scouts, along with the help of two Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources officers, helped move the generator to a safer spot.

Ally is well this morning and only a tiny bit grumpy. I didn't think she would miss more than a day of school either - the day she got out of hospital - but doc and physio said to keep her home until next week. Something to do with the anaesthetic maybe?

I know they do not let you drive a car for several weeks after anaesthetic (as I found out with Sharon last year)because it affects reaction times etc.

CynB, congratulations to Lachlan! All my brothers were in Cub Scouts (Dad was one of the Pack leaders) and Boy Scouts - I think all the way to grade 12. Two of my 3 nephews received the Eagle Scout award. (It requires extra badge work and community service, including a special project that will help others, like food or clothing collection, establishing or improving a children's playground, etc. It may be more involved than that, but I'm not sure.)
