I will sacrifice myself for your sake Heidi. But remember, I will laugh loudly if you do get the TOPP.

Looks can be deceiving Heidi but being the good friend that I am, I don't mind sacrificing for you. I will gladly take the TOPP so you don't have to.

You are SO sweet to me, Tami. It's hard to believe that anyone calls you a troublemaker.

Hi Julie. Hope your are having a good evening. Now, if you don't mind, take the cold weather back. I DO NOT want it in Florida anymore. That is why I live in Florida. I like sunshine and heat.

Heidi - back -
We've missed you. Sorry about the loss of many of your menagerie through cold and predators (a mink - who'd have thought it, Suzy?) and about the water everywhere - just what you need.
Sorry about the page party - I thought it was a good idea.

Tami, they are predicting a high of 50* F tomorrow and possibly up to 60* by Tuesday. Would you like me to share it with you?

CynB, a while back there was quite a brouhaha about page parties. In fact, there is a discussion in the Forum. Since comments get forwarded to my email, I have asked that people NOT party on my page. (I already have 20 some pages of email to get through. I don't need any more.)

Tomorrow should warm up a little. Our high yesterday was 60 and today was 68. That is cold by South Florida standards. When I left my house yesterday morning my car's thermometer said 38 degrees. The only good thing is that they don't think the citrus crops were affected.

Susan - I hope the flooding isn't as bad as predicted.
Suzy - give Ally a big hug
Southern Aussies - take care in the heat and avoid any bushfires. My son flew to Sydney today for the Top Gear thing at Acer Arena - I'll bet he'll be glad to get home to Brissie tonight.

Julie, I agree with all the emails. If you go to the update details page, you can uncheck get email for a new post. Then you won't get as many emails.

Heidi, I hope the bathroom and plumbing repairs can proceed rather quickly. (I hope you hadn't done a reno of those rooms recently.) If new fixtures, etc., are needed, take the time to choose what you want, not just choose something that's available. You might as well get some enjoyment from all this adversity!

I am going to tuck myself in early and watch tv for a while. I should be around most of the weekend. I will be stuck at home, Dylan has a fever so I can't really go anywhere. Took him to the doctor this evening and it is just a virus that needs to run its course. That means plenty of liquids and lots of TLC from mommy. Why do kids always want mommy when they don't feel well???

Haven't EVER remodeled that bathroom. It WILL need a new ceiling.... half of it ripped/ washed away. This is an excuse to attack it, but I have so much clean-up on the farm to do, and we're starting calving now, that I probably won't touch it until summer.

I think that I'll watch a little of the Tube too, just because I now can.... then feed the dogs and go to bed. I won't have to be getting up every 1 1/2 hours to feed the fire any more!!!

Julie - after I suggested the Page Party - I did find that forum page and read it - hence I did not push the idea. However it is up to the individual - the worst, for me, would be that I have the email option turned on.
That Forum on Page Parties made interesting reading, especially at the end with the re-appearance of a former poster and a challenge from him.

Heidi, as long as you will have running water and sink/tub/shower, I guess the rest can wait.

By the way, I'm so sorry to hear about the animal losses you had. Hope you find that mink and let him know what you think of him.

NO running water yet. But we've got everything else back. And IH just called me to tell me that he's spending the night at his cousin's house (it has water) so I get a quiet night here!!!

Hello everyone! Heidi, WELCOME BACK! SO glad that you're safe, and warm again - sorry that you've lost so many of your animals, though.
Susan, take care of yourself - hope life gets back to normal soon.
Looking forward to another nice, warm day here ...!! I went outside and the heat nearly knocked me over - I've just put a basin of water out for any creatures that might need it - those photos of thirsty koalas are pretty sad.

Afternoon all. I've been shopping, gasp - felt like I'd get knocked over by the heat, but at least I didn't run into anyone I knew while wearing my short shorts.

Get Well Soon Dylan! Stay sane Tami!

I've just ironed Ally's shirt for today - and I don't think it's going to fit over her cast!! We have had round in circle arguments over what she wants to wear, finally found something we could agree on, and the sleeve looks awfully small...... please please please let it fit!

Hi Suzy - I've just been trying to work out the temp here: seem to be getting a variety of answers, one site is showing our temperature at 46*C. Apparently we have 0% chance of precipitation! And fairly strong winds ... good day to stay inside and be VERY glad our airconditioning is working again!

We've exceeded our forecast top already. Luckily we don't have to leave home until 4.45pm, hopefully by then things will be starting to cool down. It's about 46 where Mum is so I'm hoping she's staying inside in the aircon. I don't know what you guys will do if the fire takes the power out!!

Just talked to Rob about the bushfires, re the power situation - he says there are two major worries, with fires threatening supplies in NSW and down in Gippsland, both of which could have catastrophic results for our power ... Oh good! (Rob is getting frequent updates - he works in the power industry)

On a lighter note - Rob's just put on the Barry McGuire CD we bought after seeing his show in Melbourne the other day. Hard to believe he's in his seventies! (Barry, not Rob!) We had the best night out in ages - sang along to all the songs, got signatures, etc. Really had fun!

Lachie checked the thermometer outside at the back door and has refused to go out again to scoop up the leaves off the pool. [doesn't want to burn his feet...don't think it has ever been too HOT for macho son before!] It is blowing a gale and all the leaves that hadn't shriveled up and dropped in the heat last week are working on it today! It is going to be even hotter with no shade in the yard!!

We forgot to hang the washing out earlier, so just did it - will have to bring it in again in a few minutes! I'm sure I was starting to burn after 3 minutes - SO hot! Some of our plants are withering and turning brown - some that we've had for years are struggling today. I opened the door and there was a blast of hot air - it almost takes your breath away, and it seems to be blowing a gale as well!

I don't think there'll be an audience Gail! Who would be crazy enough to be out in this heat? Though maybe it will be a bit cooler by then - though maybe not, the temp has gone up another 0.5C in the last half hour..

How bad is it in Cockatoo?

Sorry Bean, you already said that (blowing a gale) and sorry Gail: there's a lot of wind around! I honestly don't remember weather this hot before. I haven't been watering the garden - I figured the strong would survive, etc. but it doesn't look as if much will survive this, so I may have to work out which day I'm allowed to water, then get up early! (ouch!)
