You have been a busy little cook today, June. That coffee slice sounds nice - could I have a bit when it's cooked, please?

Will have to ice it as well. Will do that in the morning then will share Cyn.
I wish Colin was starting up in Sydney as I need to find a good gardener to do some of the bits that are getting a bit hard for me. The agapanthus are getting a bit out of control as well as some mondo grass. Hope the business is a huge success.

Bit of a warm day up here today (and expected to be warmer tomorrow) but, hey, you can't complain about temps in the mid 30's and humidity when you see what's happening elsewhere. Just put on the air-con and forget about it. Cool change due on Wednesday, then 27-28c for the rest of the week.

The only 'suffering' I have had re the fires is that the only TV channel I can get is 10. Not exactly my favorite. Its rationale is to put on the cheapest shows as an excuse to air the ads! Merlin and I are quite safe. I am very close to the beach so I have somewhere to run to. The ferocity of these fires has been incredible. I hope they manage to contain them before the next hot and windy spell.

I was going to do a bit ore cooking but we went to see MIL and as we arrived we got a call from Sharon that she had pains in her stomach like when she had the appendix. We went over as Laura was home so Sharon (who was quite distressed) could see her Doctor. Although she thought she was OK her other treatments had bound her up a bit and also some wind. Partly a result of the appendix Op. as well. All sorted out and she will go to work tomorrow. She will also have a stomach X Ray to make sure all is OK.

May I have a date loaf June, I have not had a home made one for about thirty years. My mother used to make them but back then she was a large lady and she joined Weight Watchers and all the yummy stuff stopped.
She gave me the loaf tins but they have gone in one of the many moves hubby and I have had.

June - Coffee slice in the morning with you sounds good.
Colin's got his first big job - doing the gardening for the people who own the biggest, grandest house in the area. They even have their own helicopter! It looks like being several days just to get it back to normal - it's overgrown now and then a couple of hours a week to maintain it. Our first ad comes out in the local paper this week, so hopefully things will pick-up from there.

Dino, thought about you a bit with the fires but was assured they were not in your area. Do not forget to let me know when you are in Sydney and have time for a 'cuppa'.

Gail, I seldom make cakes for us to eat as we do not need them. I still have half the Christmas cake left. I kept tipping some whisky over it to keep it moist but stopped when it was getting a bit on the alcoholic side.
Todays effort is for our Bowls trading table.

June - please pass my best wishes also to Sharon.
Guess what - I just spoke to Brenda on Skype! This is so great to be able to talk to and see my Sudoku friends.
OK - Colin has cooked sausages (boring, I know) on the barbie, so I'm off to eat. Ciao all TTFN!

You wouldn't say that if you had seen some sausages we had when we were out in Canada!
They were beef sausages, but after we cooked them they were swimming in orange coloured fat. Not very appertising at all
It was great to talk and to see Cynthia and Col on Skype.

GOOD Maen SUDOKULAND!
I need coffee this morning to get me going, so I made a HUGE pot today hehehe
Cyn, here is something to help Colin get that big job done.
I have not needed that smiley for a while. Hope he zooms through this first job and gets glowing recommendations from a satisfied customer.

Hi all. Sorry I haven't been around for awhile (again), tho you all haven't been far from my thoughts.
Ripped up my hand clearing ice from our gutters, apron and curb. Hand is pretty good and am back into a routine.
Hope everyone is safe and well. Hope to catch up with you all soon.

BRENDA, yes, I have spare coffee, sorry I did not see your post, sometimes this site holds on to them for several minutes for letting me see them.
I am not sure what is worse, cold rain or snow. Snow is prettier, but slippery, hard to get about.

Becky, hope your hand improves all the time. You now know you have to be carefully when clearing snow and ice.
Tricia at present it is slippier than when we just had snow. Water is standing over ice which makes walking a little tricky.

Everybody!! My first purebred Red Angus calf was born this morning!
She's a real cutie!
I also had a box of chicks arrive this morning..... a day earlier than expected, so my brooder wasn't ready. They're sitting in my dining room staying warm while the brooder in the barn warms up.
These are Cornish/Rock chicks destined for the freezer.

HEIDI, growing your own Cornish hens for the table, yummy. It is a shame they arrived earlier than expected, but I am sure the dining room will be OK by them for a while. How many did you get?

I must go and make Al a pie for desert( last night he had to settle for yogurt). This recipe is low cal, low fat, but he loves it, a weight watchers recipe. Easy no bake, I am glad he likes this. I think Lime. I have ingredients for lime today.

I seem to have chased everyone away. We have had a light shower of rain overnight. Hope they get some around the NSW fire areas.
When all the fires are finished, then the rain will come and all the trees come back to life.
So much of our native flora relies on bush fires to survive. Many seedpods only open after they have been burnt by fire. Prayers for the lives lost as they cannot be renewed like the plants.
