Hi, Tami! Have you seen the cookbook by Jerry Seinfeld's wife? It's supposed to include ways to sneak veggies into children's diets. I guess it's like putting grated zucchini in a cake.

Julie, that sounds like a really good idea. I wish someone would have written down all the stories from my grandparents. They are long gone and so are the stories of their childhoods. I have heard a few, but wish I had heard more.

My kid is smart enough to figure that out. He will eat a salad of lettuce, cucumber and shredded carrot. I have snuck in the shredded broccoli by telling him it is shredded cabbage. He hasn't figured that one out yet. I make sure he is not near the kitchen when I open the bag .

I just accepted the request and you are already showing up in the friends box. I am surprised I never sent you a request. I guess I thought you were already on my list.

Regarding the family history, there was a half great uncle who was "left behind" when family came to US. (The story goes that his mother died in childbirth.) Hubby has spent MANY hours in the past 2 years trying to find connections, but with much difficulty due to uprisings, destruction of records, etc.

Julie, where is your family from? My dad's side came from Hungary and my mom's from Russia. Both my parents were born in NY.

I am watching the Travel Channel. They are doing a show on hamburgers. They are now talking about exotic burgers. I actually tried a buffalo burger when I was in Colorado last summer. They are talking about about yak, ostrich and others. I don't know if I am that daring.

So far, all avatars on this page have been pumpkin/jack-o'lantern. Can we keep it up? We need Heidi and Vici, who both have jack-o'lantern avatars. I can't remember who else has them.

I saw a show about the cookbook Jerry Seinfeld's wife wrote (on Oprah, there, I admitted it!). She makes purees of the vegies and slips them in that way. Apparently, her chocolate cake with puree of beetroot is good, and stays very moist. She said she made a cake once without the puree and everyone commented that it was not as good and missing that certain something!

Tami... I tried Ostrich steak a few years ago.
Now I know why the Ostrich market crashed big time. It tasted like cardboard. Very dry, and little flavor.

I suppose a lot (flavor-wise) depends on the preparation. I must admit I have not tried buffalo, ostrich, snake, alligator/crocodile, or other exotics.

I just realized that I've forgotten to eat today. I might as well start planning supper. I'll have to look through the freezer and see what I have.

Greetings earthlings!
The tech came, after he left everything seemes to be working better than usual, and then, 6:30PM happened! I am not sure what happens at 6:30 but that is when problems start usually. Well, perhaps it will be better than yesterday, we can hope.
We got a new phone/internet box outside, and he somehow split phone from DSL line and brought 2 lines into the house, and put a supper filter on the lines in the box, and I am not sure what else. Very nice man, and he accessed our history through the black box on my desk and said, yes, I can see where your internet has been cutting out and back in and out again. WELL DUH, of course it has, Al did not just need someone to talk to, spending about 3 hours total on the telephone with your tech help for nothing! hehehe. So, over nite will tell if we have made progress or not. thanks for asking and wishing us luck.
