The peacock COULD have been a photo I took, as we have peacocks in our neighborhood. (I think I mentioned the "Save the Peacocks" campaign.) It isn't one of my photos though.

I just got back from visiting a local pigeon breeder. He has Rollers and Parlor Tumblers. He even demonstrated what they did. He released some of the Rollers, they flew way up in the sky, and would suddenly drop for 20 or 30 feet, while twisting and turning. It was amazing to watch. The Parlor Tumblers were a scream. They don't fly. Instead of flying, they somersault all over the ground. I've never seen anything like it. He also had 4 Indian Fantails that he was looking for a new home for. (PLEASE ignore the grammar) They came home with me.

Heidi, how many pigeons do you have now? I assume your new Indian fantails are fliers, not gymnasts.

For anyone interested, the Fantail breed of pigeons originated in India and came to the States in a crate of snakes destined for the San Diego Zoo. (Does that mean they were actually intended for feed for the snakes?)

There's a YouTube about roller pigeons. They actually roll several times mid-flight.

The first information I found was about Birmingham rollers. There are also several other breeds of rollers. Show Rollers are much larger and are bred just for show. Parlor Rollers look similar to Birmingham Rollers, but can't fly...they spin back summersaults on the ground for many yards. Oriental Rollers are another aerial performer and come in many color varieties.

Heidi, I hope I'm not stealing your thunder on the birds, but I'm really finding it interesting.

SA6ers.
Just here for a little while. I did the edges out the front this morning, and thought I'd catch up here before I go shower and make myself bootiful for hubby.

Hi, Gail! Is it date night?

I had a few minutes and was curious about the rollers and tumblers Heidi saw, so googled it. I hope what I shared wasn't too boring for everyone.

Cyn, your naturopath/homeopath post reminded me of something similar from years ago.
Son was less than a year old and had the edgar brits (rhyming slang) for ages. I took him to the gp and a paed and they had no answers or suggestions. Had to take him to the Children's for many tests including lactose and fructose intolerance, and for a week, I had to take in daily stool samples! He was tested for giardia and all other types of bugs...nothing! Very frustrating.
In the end, after a month, my mother, who at the time owned a health food store, asked a homeopath for a remedy. (I mentioned it to the paed who said try anything, she had run out of ideas). She gave us a bottle of bach diarrhea remedy. I was a little sceptical but at my wit's end. Three drops under the tongue every so often (can't remember how often) and he was 'fixed' within a DAY!
