Gail, my son rang last night and said he was off to Thailand for two weeks with work. I would not come down if he is still away.
I would be staying in Point Cook but would need public transport unless Ken comes down as well. We have not really discussed it.I am sure I can get a train to a station where someone could then give me a lift to where ever you decide to have lunch. You decide what suits most of the Melbourne people and if I make it I will fit in with any arrangements.

Julie my friends house looks like it is straight out of Vogue. They are into entertaining the upper echelons of society..not like me!!!
I couldn't cope with the house work but she does it all herself...when she complains that it is messy I just laugh at her...she knows what I am like...my house is full of stuff that she was tossing out [decluttering drives] ...I keep telling her that if she ever wants any of it back that I would understand...even my wonderful bread maker....
My tap with its $900+ RRP seems rather paltry in comparison.... didn't pay a 1/5 of that tho [at a homeware auction...the only way I can afford to shop!] I think I did very well....ordinary taps cost more than I paid.

I have seen more expensive taps about....but I wouldn't pay that for a tap!!! I just browse in those designer stores for the rich and famous and then trot off to Dimmey's

Brings to mind a Billy Connolly sketch, where he goes to a store and this fancy smancy fella comes up and starts talking about the rug on the floor. When he finally gets around to telling Billy the price of it...well, you can imagine his reaction!

Come to think of it...don't think I ever told Pete how much I spent on the kitchen and laundry reno...kinda wish I had now....you couldn't get a decent single mixer tap 10yrs ago for much under $100...it has something to do with the ceramic disks inside [last longer] and the flexible mesh hoses...the stainless steel ones leak less and last longer but also jack the price up...

yep...that's exactly it Gail!!! I feel that way every time someone in a Ferrari or a Maserati overtakes me....
Did I tell you the capital improved value of our house is less than I spent on the kitchen...not that I am going to tell the council...don't need to encourage them to put our rates up!!!

I have appalling news - I am becoming domesticated... If hubby goes to TAFE for much longer I might even learn to cook more dishes... I went about 16 years cooking twice. Now look at me. I'm ruining my reputation

My new dish for this week - fried rice. Yes I have reached my age and never before made fried rice....

Confession - I couldn't work out how to get the lumps out of the cold rice so I used scissors! Now that sounds more like the undomesticated me....
