Hello lovely SA6 people. Sorry I haven't been around for days. Just when I feel all is settled down and I can relax, things get busy and I can't get here. Got so many pages to read - hope I haven't missed anything important.
To those who were talking about our massive storm here in SE Qld - as you can see I'm fine but lost power for 2 hours. It was pretty vicious for a while here but we escaped the worst of it luckily.

we have over the years voted 3 times for Daylight Savings.. each time the answer is NO !!
and still the Politicians are not listening to the voters..
hopefully if the vote is NO again, they, the Govt, will listen !!

Hi Rolanda, Julie and Broni - if I hadn't been so long-winded on my previous post I might have been able to sneak in for a TOPP. Oh well, c'est la vie!

Hi, Broni, CynB and Dizzy Lizzy! Thanks, Broni! I think this is just a heavy-traffic time on the internet in our area. At least, that's my story. And apparently I didn't get stuck in the doorway with anyone.

I'm glad you didn't have any damage from the storm, CynB! It's just a pain to be without the electricity, though!

Dizzy Lizzy, I wonder if your hydrotherapy class is like our water aerobics class. I went to water aerobics this morning.

Hey Cyn, can you explain to me how I now have two extra days that I don't work, but do not get anything extra done?

Dizzy Lizzy, I forgot to mention that it is also refreshing and quite fun. Luckily other class members are friendly. Is this your first time to go to the class? I hope you enjoy it!

Yes, Broni, I can explain that. My theory is that when you work 5 full days per week, as I did for more than 20 years - you have to be organised - get up early, do stuff before work, shopping on the way home if needed, more stuff and flinging of food when you get home, more stuff, fall into bed. Weekends - so the stuff you couldn't fit in all week and the big weekly jobs. Have half a days rest and then back to square one - Monday morning. When you work part-time or from home - something needs to be done - put it off till later - you've got PLENTY of time. Get it? Got it? Good. I do it all the time, especially sitting here instead of doing stuff!!

You know the story...not here...yada yada!

Just read to the bottom of page 392, so will answer all that I have seen there. Busy page, very interesting.

Liz, good luck in your choice. Maybe you could mention a couple of possibilities, and we can have a squizz at them.

Viv, MizT reminded me about your question on slidy things we use. For one thing, I don't unless absolutely necessary, and for two, I wouldn't have a clue what it is, let alone where! Hang on, I'll go find it and have a look. It's a Mistral Quick and Easy. As if! My sister bought it while she lodged here about four years ago. It's not bad, has a long cord which can be handy, but difficult to get the water in for steam.

Tricia, hope you have had a good day/sleep. Darn meds!

Bean, I can't believe you went to all those gardens in a weekend! I am exhausted!
Have bookmarked the site and work out where they all are.
Sounds like an idyllic couple of days.

Hi all, I've caught up again with the reading.
I had to get a new hot slidey thing a couple of months ago. I decided I wanted one that has a separate tank for the water. It is a 'stores own brand' and cost £40 and I love it. It is so much better than the normal steam iron as I control how much steam I need. Would recommend them to anyone who needs a new one.

Tricia, I had to laugh. We talk to our plants too, especially when we are first putting them into the ground. The ground is HARD clay, and sometimes, it feels like we are sending them to their doom, impoverished ground, very little TLC and only at the beginning, lots of mulch and only water for a very short time!
We put them in, wish them luck and give them a but we really mean !

Hi Brenda, how are you finding it, being a lady of leisure! I read about the events leading up to it happening, and I reckon it sucks...but we do it anyway.
Anything for the sake of peace!

June, cupboards and boxes, GROAN!!! We're all here in support of the de-clutter! Then come do mine!
VIV!!! We need you!!!

Today I am spending on the inside of the house in readiness for Rena and Amber's stay. The outside looks pretty spiffy, will get another mow etc before then but good now. Doing the inside now and a sprucing just before.

Rolanda, how you managed with your MIL's move and your weekend away I will never know!

Pens! June, I agree. I really thought it was just me or my imagination, but they DO NOT make pens like they used to! The one I am using at the mo is new, works perfectly fine in use...but has to be squiggled around first! My menu list has several scribbly lines at the top because once I stop using it for a minute or so, it wont write again!

In regard to the ferals, I hadn't realised that was an Aussie term. Originally I think it meant hippies, but now it refers to wild people - you know, wild straggly hair, unclean, uncared for children etc. Before you all think I live in some undesirable suburb, being a small town, such people are spread throughout the town. You could build a million dollar house, and next thing you know, the government buys the block next door for public housing, and there goes the neighbourhood. The government will not buy 2 blocks next to each other - must spread the fun around!

There are feral people all over the world, they just go by different names depending on where you live.

How do you like my new avatar? a few days ago I mentioned the new flower pot I bought that looks like a giant coffee mug. The avatar is a picture of it with some of my new herb plants in it.

I forgot in my description of me complete with boa and tiara at the pooter as my daughter's friends walked past to add that I had a wine glass of OJ as well. I'm still finding bits of feather in the carpet! It's all added to the fun.

As to irons, now I've forgotten who asked. If it was an Aussie, I can give you the results of Choice Magazine's July report on irons. The top rating model was the Breville Jet Select Teflon Steam Iron BIR150 for $55, beating irons costing 3 times that, although it didn't score well on synthetics. Let me know if you want more details.

You did a great job with the planting Tami, and the avatar looks great. I chose mine because I was sick of people asking me where Qld is. I'm thinking it's time for a change, but I have an evil plot in mind ........Check your PMs in a few minutes......

Susan, I made an avatar of the pot as several people asked for a picture of it. I am going to post a bigger picture on my page. I actually have 2 of them and they each have 3 herbs in it. My front porch will smell good soon.
