Since I am not an SM and therefore have no personal smilies, I shall fly over with my hummy. Must remedy that soon.

Heidi, 2 days, that would be on tuesday up here. Do let us know what you find out. You swing from not enough sleep to too much sleep don't you? Hope doc finds a tiny something wrong that is easily and quickly set right.

HEIDI, I have had 2 naps today, but I have an excuse. I think hubby shared a tummy virus with me! NOT FUN! Sharing is usually good, but some things you should keep to yourself!

MzT, that's Tuesday here, too. But that would be Wednesday in OZ, so I said "in 2 days".

Boy, does Mason hate being brushed. I may have to muzzle her next time.

We're having 75 MPH winds here right now. No rain, though. Drat. We need a LOT of rain!

Morning all!

Ebob had a good night - at least that's what hubby tells me. She still has a temp, though not too high, and I've decided to leave it unmedicated for now so I can see what it's going to do. Maybe it's broken?? Can't call the doc for another 2.5 hours so that should be enough time to see what's going on...

Liz and MizT - I too have that burning, stinging feeling when I go out in the sun. Winter is okay, but Saturday - a beautiful sunny day - had me hiding inside. It starts immediately, so it's not a burn. Sunscreen helps me, I can go out in the sun without the stinging for a while. Completely out for MizT who is allergic to sunscreen! I've always assumed it was years of sun damage but if someone finds out there is another cause I'd love to know!

Vici, Ally used to love puzzles and did them constantly. About 2 years ago she went off them. About 6 months ago I decided they were taking up too much room and got rid of all but 2. She has just started doing them again and wants more!!! You couldn't send one or two of you new ones through cyber space for her could you?

Heidi, those winds sound nasty. We cut down three trees that were close to our house because of winds like those. One was already split and could go at any time, another was only a few feet from the back door, and the third lost big branches in the last big wind and was also close to the house. A gum tree out the front lost some relatively big branches and lots and lots of little ones in the last middle-sized winds, but I refused to cut it down too. It's far enough away from the house - well, if it falls the other way....

ooo, i love a good wind storm (for a little while). the kids get big sheets and try to get blown off the trampoline or down the street on skate boards. but, i agree not fun for a long time, especially with iffy trees next to the house.
way to fly over the page rena. loved it!
we are still in puzzle mode. i do about 20 puzzles a week to just put them away. sigh. good thing they are usually only 10 peices or so.

Mariana, a few years ago I was taking Ally to a birthday party 'across the river'. It was pretty windy but we are used to that here. The power went out and the party had to be cancelled. I took Ally and 2 of her friends in my car back to my house - or tried to. Every single access road was blocked by fallen trees. In those days I didn't have a cell phone. In the end I stopped at a friend of my mother's and used their phone to call hubby and asked him to call the parents of the kids I had with me. At one point we were stopped near an old factory. Not long after I gave up, did a U-turn and headed to the friend's house, the roof of that factory blew onto the road! I don't like wind!

I made the appointment 2 weeks ago! I did listen, but this was the best that could be done, short of visiting the E.R., and I didn't feel like that was warranted.

That's what it's like with my doc Heidi. To get Ebob into a doc today it will have to be one of the 'extras'.

The problem is that I found a really good GP, best I've ever had. But other people have found her too. So she has a lot of patients. But I'd rather wait for a good one then get in immediately to a bad one. I've gone that route, and have usually ended up in the E.R. by doing that.

Suzy... If you take Ebob in today, and have to wait, make her comfy. Bring in a folding cot, a pillow and light weight blanket, so she can sleep while waiting. Who cares if other people stare. They'll wish they'd thought of that. too.

I wait for big things, but for colds and flu will take whoever is available... Not that we go often for colds and flu, but Ebob's long term temp bothers me. I haven't decided for sure to go today. I have the feeling we'll go and sit in the office and be told 'rest and liquids'.

i've always been told a fever for three days or a temp of 103, bring them in. i have followed this advice from my mother for 17 years and have never been sorry for it. one of these symptoms have, without exception, been the result of ear infection, strep, bronchitis, etc.

Suzy, for urgent care, I call up the doc's office, talk to the triage nurse, and she decides if I get a " today" appointment or not. If I have more than one problem, usually says " come on down". One treatable problem, she talks to doc and he sends a Rx. Or you go in for lab only, then they prescribe.

Family anecdote warning - I was talking to Mum last night and she told me about an experience my 13 year old niece recently had in Broome... (She is travelling around the country with her parents for a year). The local footy team apparently won their grand final. My brother and SIL were sitting outside a pub facing the street, my niece was facing them - thank goodness because the footy team decided to celebrate their win by streaking down the street! When they got to the other end they decided to amble their way back having a laugh and a chat.

That day or the next, I'm not sure which, niece and family went to the beach. They didn't realise that the beach had 2 ends - the end with the coffee shop, and the nudist end, and guess which end they ended up at. There were dozens of 'wrinklies' fishing, swimming, sleeping in the sun etc.

My niece says she has seen enough nekkid bodies to last her the rest of her life!

SUZY, it is good to be told rest and fluids, and docs really rather tell you that than say it is some terrible disease! But after 3 days or more, doc needs to make the call. Besides, if she misses school, don't you need a doc excuse?? Here, Mom's excuse is not enough any more. That is called an UNexcused absence and more than___ a year, truant officers are called.

Hi Again all. Not really here but saw MizT's question re Angelique and Reina...so thought I'd give you an answer. Angel is doing well, but has lost a little weight while hospitalized since she wasn't getting breast milk 24/7 as she had been before. Nothing to worry about there.
The doctors are still running test( Not sure which ones or what is being checked)so no other info available right now. Reina is dealing with this as one might expect...frustrated, worried, annoyed, etc...I'll be there soon, leaving on the 23rd for several days to see what I can find out. This reminds me of how long we were trying to find out what was wrong with my hubby....it took a couple of years..so I'm not too optimistic! Thanks all for the concern...prayers for full healing are appreciated.

My mother does that with her doc MizT, but my doc doesn't seem to like to do stuff over the telephone. It's impossible to change docs in this country town too - all are closed to new patients because they can barely keep up with the ones they have!
