June, yes, the new mouse makes for hassle free use of the computer. My times on my solitaire games had more than doubled, waiting on the mouse to respond. Now it is sooo fast and easy, it is also cordless so no getting tangled. Joy had it installed and working before I realized she was even working on it.

Heidi, that is some ear infection you have. If that drainage does not stop by Monday, think you should let the doctor know? You might need a different antibiotic to knock it out, if the one you are taking was working well you should be so much better than you are now. I can only imagine how annoying that noise from the ear must be. Get better really soon!

Today had been very quite and restful. I am not sure just how many little cat naps I have had. I put away most of my gifts, put all my earrings into the new 3 drawer little chest I got, instead of boxes on the shelf to ramble through. I shall later make dividers for the drawers but for now used boxes and lids separately to sort them out. MUCH easier to find what I want now!

I also got 2 dozen battery powered tea lights. When weather is threatening and power has flickered in the night, I like to turn just one on, so there is one little point of light in the dark if we loose power hehehe.

Joy was so delighted with her new place setting of fiesta ware. she was looking for a special color, and had not found it in the stores. she sent a link that showed the color, I clicked on it, was the factory, and they sold them at a most reasonable price. click and click, and it was on the way to me, I love easy shopping, and loved the look on her face when she opened it! Her 'set' is now up to 7 place settings, each in a different color, so if she decides which color she wants, perhaps by her birthday I can get the one more to make it service for 8.

I am of to make another turkey and cranberry orange relish sandwich, my favorite use of leftovers! Did I tell you how I made the relish?

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Yes, I'm planning on calling my dostor on Monday. The infection is not getting any better. The only difference is that the ear is draining instead of building up the pressure. But it keeps draining.... and draining.... and draining .... and it won't shut off the tap. The fluid is a clear bright yellow, and makes a mess.

Flash flood warning here till tomorrow night. Rain is railroading up a track just southof me at the moment. they are getting a LOT of rain. From the warning area, they expect the rain to move north over tonight. Ground is already squishy with rain.

Even with all the rain, I had to go water two plants in pots, under the overhanging roof. they were very dry.

Not a lot going on here. I did hear that my epidural tentatively scheduled for the 30th has been postponed. Doc does not yet have approval from insurance co, bummer. I hope they can do it soon.

Damp hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Heidi, I do hope you feel better, get a good nights sleep and perhaps the doc can find the right medication to knock out that infection. Bacteria are getting harder and harder to kill it seems.

Went to pick frames for my eyeglasses today. Found some I liked, even got to preview them via photo, on my face, while wearing my own eyeglasses so I could see what they looked like. Too much walking to get there, I know what chain should have a store in a strip mall, not the huge mall they were in, where I had to walk and walk and walk. It left me very tired and sore, not hurting exactly, just sore. I went toone of the one hour places, hoping I would not have to go back. Nope, they could not do them in house cause I want the transitions lenses, need those out in the sun.

I tried on a pair of the glasses that have the nose pads, the metal frames. the young man said they should not bother me if they were correctly adjusted. Not 2 minuets of having them on, and my head started to hurt. for some unknown reason, having nose pads sit on my bridge of nose triggers migraine headache for me. I think it was obvious, cause as I was reaching to take them off, he said, 'head hurting that fast, wow'.

We were very near Tanya's apartment, so went there to use the facilities, and she decided to make us lunch. turkey and dressing yet again, she had made a LOT of dressing, and I am glad, I love it! different veg today, so not the same meal. I do think anything someone else prepares always tastes good.

I have been reading a lot this past week. I have read 3 books, a series, sort of, same 2 police inspectors solving different murders in San Francisco. these are from the books oldest daughter sent me. Needless to say, I am enjoying them to keep my nose stuck in a book that long.

time for bed, hugs to each of you, hope the start of a new week is going well for everyone.

Before I called the doctor, I got a new symptom. My ear is now bleeding. (I'm not gonna tell you about the nastiness happening at my other end.) My appointment with the doctor is at 11:45 tomorrow. That was the earliest they could squeeze me in.

Heidi, are you home from doc yet? That is not good, having bleeding of the ear. I do hope they can get you straightened out today and on something that will help.

It is almost 1 PM here, should be 2 PM there, so let us hear from you when you get back home. Will be checking in to see what is going on.

Another grey damp day here, not rain, but fog, we are living in a could it seems. I have done nothing so far today other than try to clear up a bit of business about the property in Montevallo, I have half of it taken care of, need to address the second half now. I am trying to do everything via computer, to avoid an hour an half trip each way to go down there.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Hi, Everyone! I actually have a few minutes to pop in and say Hello and hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

I like your TOPP, June!

D#1 and her family, including grandies have been visiting since Christmas Eve morning. Most of the time was spent in Chicago with other D#2 and her hubby. That meant getting up early each day & driving in to spend the day with them (museums, winter festival (ice skating & carnival-type rides), etc. I usually stayed at their condo with the dog, who gladly slept most of the time. (Too much activity and noise for her.) We took D#1 and family to Medieval Times yesterday, then to our house for the rest of the day, overnight, and today, until we took them to the airport. We've been on a scavenger hunt of sorts - trying to find all of the toys to put them away until the next visit. Two of the small plastic Sesame Street characters are missing. Both hubby & I have looked everywhere we can think of, but without luck.

Tomorrow, he heads back to Chicago to work some more on a small pantry he built with D#2 & her husband pre-Christmas. They were able to get it framed in and shelves installed to get things out of the grocery bags on the floor. (They have a very small galley kitchen with very little storage space.) They hope to finish the dry wall & mudding tomorrow. I won't be able to go because of a scheduled platelet donation in the morning.

From my quick reading, it seems MizT and Heidi are dealing with health issues.

MizT, I hope all of your family members are feeling much better and hope your epidural can be scheduled soon.

Heidi, your ear infection sounds awful. Hopefully your doctor can prescribe something tomorrow that will knock it out completely - and quickly!

MizT, the Christmas celebration at EP sounds wonderful, and your Christmas Eve (?) dinner with Joy and Tanya sounds yummy. The new mouse for your computer is a great idea!

Suzy, I hope you and your family and grandies all had a wonderful Christmas!

Nola, Theresa, and Broni, it was nice to see you and receive your Christmas wishes. I hope each of you and your families had a wonderful Christmas, as well! My apologies for not directly mentioning anyone else who posted on previous pages that I have missed while being AWOL.

In case the next few days slip by without a return visit from me, I would like to wish everyone a healthy, prosperous, peaceful, and Happy New Year full of love and good will!

Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and for everyone!

OH HEIDI, I read your post wrong, thought your appointment was Monday cause I wanted it to be Monday for your benefit, I suppose Same wishes sent for tomorrow, and same request to let us know what doc said when you get home. Looks like with an ear that bad, they could have squeezed you in somewhere. Here, if I could not see my primary care physician, I could go to urgent care facility and be seen within an hour from getting there.

JULIE, you have been busy, and still a lot on your calendar. sounds like you did have some entertaining time with your daughters and their families. children can manage to 'hide' small toys, I hope they turn up. Usually I would find lost things in the most unusual places imaginable. Did you feel a bit left out, staying home with the dog while they all went out to the museums and such, or did you also welcome some quite time, like doggie did?

JULIE, still no word on my epidural. My newphew and his wife and baby seem over thier flu, none of the other children got it. My niece and her hubby in Georgia have got over the symptoms, but she is not eating, just no interest in any food or drink. those two had stomach problems so that may be why she has no appetite, and no energy either. this was their Christmas break from school. They both teach, him high school science and math, she college English. Ni4ce was supposed to spend break getting everything ready for the reception for her Mom, she still needs to get a lot finished.

I finished the 4th book of that series, I do NOT need to start on the next series, I think there are 8 books in that one. When I get my head into a really good series like that, I do not get anything else done, unless dragged away from my books hehehe. New author to me, Laurie King, her first book was 1993. She is compared favorably to PD James, and other mystery writers, some saying she passed James in her first novel even. She is very good with character development, and that is what I like in a novel, I want to put the book down after I finish and be sad I will not see these characters, almost friends, again.

I did put down the book long enough to make a flower arrangement for sis's 50th anniversary reception. We had bought the flowers before Christmas, silk flowers, and she got the vase she wanted to use to me last Monday. I took a photo with my OLD phone, hope I can transfer it to computer, but not tonight. Just a bit sleepy and fuzzy, my meds working well tonight. Pain under control but just a bit off kilter. It is better than hurting for sure.

Hugs once again to each of you, till later.

Hello all, Just dropping in to let all know that life continues to move forward here. Nothing exciting, still fighting the health issues, but seem to be improving.
Heidi I do hope your doctors can help you feel better...you have really been dealing with this draining ear for much to long and now the bleeding is just too much. I feel your pain.
Trica, I too have been having my nose stuck into books recently and been enjoying them a lot. Today I've started rereading a Zora Neale Hurston book that I read while in high school...I'm so glad that I finally got back to it...Most enjoyable as an adult..I better understand it and why she was considered such a genius. Most of the other books have also been good, but this is a classic.
Well I need to run to the store to get some egg nog ice cream so I can make up a fresh batch of egg nog today or tomorrow...looking forward to that. I will take time now to send out wishes for a happy, healthy New year for all and will build on that thought if I get back in time...but at least the wish can now start picking up steam and we can all share in a fun, spectacular year from the very beginning. Peace.

OK.... I'm back from seeing the Doc. I have a humdinger of an ear infection. The Doc was in shock as to how bad it is. The bleeding is from the infection in the eardrum around the tube. She couldn't believe that I hadn't passed out from the pain. I got a shot of one antibiotic, and was switched to a stronger oral antibiotic. If that doesn't work in a few days, I have to go see the ear surgeon.

Just a quick Hello!

Busy day for both hubby and me - in 2 separate directions, then back home. Still no luck finding the 2 little plastic figures, though I went through garbage, as tomorrow is pick-up. Also worked on year-end paper work as membership chairman of wood club. Maybe I'll find time for Christmas cards tomorrow.

Mama, I'm glad you're seeing some improvement of health issues!

Heidi, I'm so glad you were able to see the doctor and get stronger antibiotics. Hopefully you can get lots of rest and are on the road to improvement!

Nola, I hope you and family had a wonderful Christmas. May the new year bring much happiness!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the DUGs, one more sleep for us!

It is another dull grey day today, shucks. Colder too. Yesterday I went outside to take some turkey bones to the dumpster. I do not like leaving those in our trash room, could get very smelly before that is emptied, especially with holidays when staff is not at work. It was sunny, so I just rode around outside for a few minuets, untill the cold wind sent me back inside. Cabin fever, the after holiday blues and such, I need some sunshine and something to do outside!

Day before yesterday, in between rain showers, I think the same happened to my sister. It was warmer that day, and she and her hubby left for a nearby waterfall, and a short hike in the woods. I am sure they looked for birds also, avid bird watchers both of them.

Today is sister's and hubby's 50th wedding anniversary. Years ago, they decided going out on New Years Eve was no longer fun, anniversary shared with to many revelers, so they started going bird watching all day on that day. there is a nice bird sanctuary about 2 hours from them, they go there and spend the day, have lunch out, and home fore the New Years Eve celebrations starts with it's traffic. There are many overlooks of the lake where they can sit in car and watch, also a nice warm building with windows overlooking good birding areas, so they will make do even though the high for the day is 41*F (5*C) up there.

I am trying to crochet again, after years away from it. With hands and shoulder problems, can only do a few minuets at a time. and I have ripped out more than I have left in hehehe. Just a simple cotton dish cloth, I like those for dishes and the ones I have are getting older.

the pattern that came with the yarn is for a granny square, worked in rounds, but very different from the granny square I used for baby blankets. Hand muscles and brain has memory, I have probably done a million of the repeats on that old granny square, which alternates 3 dc into each chain 2 space below, then chain 2. I can do that in my sleep.

this one does DC into the DC of each stitch on previous row, till corner, then 2 dc, chain 2 and 2 dc into the chain 2 space. Once I am crocheting into that corner, automatically put in 3 dc, and then do not notice it till I have another round, bummer. I am counting now as soon as I finish a corner. funny how when you totally over learn something, you keep it forever. Anyone who crochets can only imagine how many repeats there are in a baby blanket that is 40 inches square!! and I cannot count how many baby blankets I have made. One for each niece and nephew, plus for my girls, that's 8 there, and no telling how many for co workers and friends.

OK, time for breakfast, I have finished my morning coffee. Hugs to each of you, and I will be back later to read and comment.

Shoot, I lost a long post, somehow pushed wrong button. The short version follows

Heidi, draining puss is not really a good sign. It is good it is draining if puss is present, instead of building up pressure, but puss is a sign of continuing infection. I would phone the doc tomorrow and let him decide if it is of concern or not.

My BIL's partner has been in hospital since early Christmas Day, with double pneumonia and a bowel blockage. Roger almost made himself sick staying at hospital every day. Now Roger is primary caregiver at home, but does have some help from friends who are staying on his property. If you can send some healing vibes and prayers for the both of them would be nice.

Watched the rose parade this morning, always enjoy that. I had 2 uninterrupted hours of viewing. I love the floats, wish I could find the web site I once had that showed how each float was designed and built. I remember the history of what was allowed on a float. First it was only roses, then only flowers, and changed to add seeds and cocoanut , to give them black and white colors. Now it is anything organic. Cotton fibers, bark from redwood trees today made up the hull of canoes, dried grapefruit peel was the legs of the Phoenix bird. it has really changed.

Congrats HEIDI on getting hair washed. I remember tubes and ear plugs, Tay had them age 3 to 5.

I took down my door wreath today and put up another generic something on door, until it is time to make something for for Valentines Day.

That's all I can remember, other than to say again

May each of you have a prosperous and happy year in 2015, bringing you all that your heart desires.

Funny story New Years Eve, plans changed and ended up staying home away from the crowds and enjoying the spa as it has been so hot and humid here.
We decided to order in pizza instead of having to cook and phoned up Pizza Hut on one of those numbers that connects you to the nearest store. Well we waited and waited then waited some more. Finally after about 6 phone calls from the driver who was lost we discovered he was in Mt Isa! This is approx 2000km north of me. Needless to say we didn't get our pizzas.

Just want to say hello and I love you ...all is well here...or at least pretty good. Sister will be having a party tomorrow and that will start my year of celebrating on the right note I guess. Angelique will be turning seven on Sunday and then I return to doctor's visits to tie up lose ends...all in all, Life is good.
May whatever moves you to a level of goodness happen and be of long standing. May aches and pains just be bad enough to remind us that we are still among the living and feeling and may we have enough moisture for body and land to be protected and productive...May each of you have enough! Continue to get better Heidi. I hope you sleep well tonight.

Mama, may you have enough.

Julie, enjoy getting back to your cello practice and lessons. Your Christmas cards will be remembered, extending the season for the recipients, that is a good thing.

Broni, Internet ordering is good, as long as the system works. that story is so very funny!

It is too rainy and cloudy at sundown this last week to look for longer days. Will be that way another couple of days. I hope by the time we have sun at sunset I can tell a difference. Did I say I am part plant, and need sunshine?

Speaking of plants, I have found new fronds on the ferns we moved inside a couple of months ago. I think they have acclimated to the new location. I would have been happy just keeping them alive till spring, but new growth is fantastic.

A resident here has given me a pup. No, not canine, but the offspring of a bromeliad plant. I have no experience with them, but reading about them it seems easy enough to do, I just hope this one roots well. I am not sure this one is terrestrial, needing soil and roots. many are air plants, with roots only to anchor them to a branch or a rock, getting nutrition from rainwater and air.

Hers is in bloom, an the mother plant begins a slow decline after it blooms, although blooms last months. It will send off these offshoots to propagate itself and then begin to die.

It might take a year to 3 years to take this one to bloom again, depending on which kind it is. I hope it does well.

I took a very late nap, but am sleepy once again. I am trying to stay up till midnight and time for meds again, before going back to sleep. Only 45 minuets to go!

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.
