Those Frenchies seek him everywhere
Is he in heaven or is he in hell?
That demned elusive Pimpernel”

I went outside to hook up the RV to get it ready for tomorrow, then hopefully mow some of the lawn. I got the RV plugged in, but the back went into massive spasm while searching for the full gas can I just had, so I could fill up the mower. Ah well. Today's over.

(Yes, the missing gas can is red. That's what brought the Pimpernel doggerel to mind.)

Greetings friends. Heidi, I see that Gil is up to his usual, giving away the gasoline you needed, and I am sure you paid for, too. how do you stay sane with his antics?

My friend Linn is in the hospital. she had a breathing problem, could not get breath, and could not get up to get to phone. thank goodness she just recently started wearing her 'help' button all the time. I had ordered her a stainless steel chain to put it on, instead of the black plastic cord it came with. she was singing the praises of the button, how quickly she got the call back (she could hear her phone ringing, but not get to it), How quickly Shannon our services coordinator got to her apartment and got inside with her pass key, and how quickly the medics were here after that. she is doing better. At first they thought she had pneumonia, now saying no, that was not it, but have not heard what was the problem. she does have COPD, it was a very humid day, so no telling. I am so glad she was wearing her button!!

We played 3 handed scrabble today without Linn, and we signed a card that Mary brought and got that in the mail for her. also sent one to Nonie, who had the stroke a few weeks ago. she is now at least able to swallow food, is eating pureed food, said she had purred french fries, and they tasted pretty good when she added ketchup hehehe. It is doubtful she will be able to return to live here with us, and I do miss her. Her family wants to keep her apartment here as long as they possibly can, so they have a place to stay when visiting her from out of town. I think 3 months is all that is allowed, though. we shall see.

My tummy has still been acting up, this has been going on since Sunday?? I think. I slept almost all day Wednesday, after not getting much sleep Tuesday night. today I was up and about after a good 8 hours last night, pretty good after sleeping most of yesterday. Tanya said she came and knocked yesterday, but I did not hear her.

Not much else going on here, just busy with the usual. I did get my hearing aide ordered, should be in by end of next week, then I go back for an hour appointment for fitting and learning about it. I got my check auto deposit changed to my new, no service charge checking account, that is about my accomplishments this week.

time for bed, hope I can get to sleep tonight, cause I am tired. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

When we were in Europe I had problems accessing my Yahoo account on both the iPad and my old notebook. I decided to buy another 10 inch notebook but Ken wanted me to get a 14 inch one. That is what I now have. A bit heavier to carry and I bet Ken takes over with this rather than his iPad!
Enjoy the concert Heidi.

Greetings to All!

June, so glad the birthday party for Laura was such a success!

Mama, I'm glad you're getting into a rhythm so meds are taken before the pain gets too bad!

MizT, your new cleaning person sounds like a gem! So glad the hose has found its way back to you. Good for you for getting out to shop on your own - an important skill to maintain!

Tami, good for Mitchell getting off to a good start at college, and good for your student teacher to demonstrate his common sense. I hope he'll remain an asset to you, as you help to complete his training!

So nice to see Nola visit. Sorry I missed her (and everyone else, it seems).

Heidi, your visit to the museum sounds like fun! So glad you had good company for the concert! You deserve to treat yourself to an occasional fun activity!

Time to head to bed! I had my first cello lesson of the fall this week, so MANY new techniques to learn & started working on a sonata by Vivaldi. With 4 movements, it will take me quite a bit of time to learn, but I'd rather put in the time and develop the techniques needed as I learn.

Sending many {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, much healing energy, , positive thoughts, and prayers!

P.S. Apologies to anyone I missed!

The new laptop jammed up and I phoned the techno advice that came on the screen. He said we had a Koobface worm through our system. Ken (at bowls)said to wait but I wanted it fixed as we go away in just over a week. Cost me more than I paid for the computer! I said I also needed something done about a problem with my main computer so I do hope that is being fixed now.

Good Morning from a pain free house..... Yes, I am currently pain free and enjoying this state of being. I went to the doctor's yesterday and was given a new brace that fits like and is the size of a large back pack. This is giving me lots of support and making life easier, even thought its big, clumsy and hot....It's worth it. I don't have to see this doctor again for three weeks...I think I'm getting better.... Big smile with that statement. Wishing the same results for all who may be having a tough time right now.
Today is my great grand niece's fifth birthday and I'll be going to the planned celebration and expecting to have some fun for a change...Life is good.
Glad others have been having some fun too...Heidi, the museum trip sounds neat. I was wondering if you really will try to visit when Nola is in town...You are really most welcomed you know. Hope the weather allows that to be something that could happen.
Julie, I agree with June...good to hear about you and the things that you enjoy. I agree with you that taking medicine is an art and has a rhythm that works...glad I finally fell into a good beat...Lol.
June, the party for Laura sounded great...she is lucky to have you helping her to become a well rounded kid exposed to lots of things that she can enjoy. Every child doesn't have that in their lives....and it's so important. Some folks aren't as able to think outside of the box so to speak...keep it going as long as you can.
Hey Tricia...good to see you and I are still in fighting shape mentally most of the time...making sure we keep pushing to do the things we can...as they say...if you don't user them one will lose them...and we don't want that to happen. Shop on my friend and thanks for all of the helpful tips you share...they are good.
Okay folks, time to shower and play about for a bit before its time to leave for the party...Take care all and have a great day/night where ever you hang your hat. Peace.

WOW, how great to see such an upbeat message from Mama. It is amazing what pain relief can do to bring back a vibrant personality! I am happy over the moon that the brace is working for you. Pain itself can slow the healing process, so now I forecast you shall heal faster as well as feel better while doing it. Enjoy your party and visits with family.

June, so sorry you had problems with your laptop. I hope it is now working properly and will remain good for your trip. I have forgotten where you are going this trip, can anyone refresh my memory?? Wherever it is, I am wishing you and Ken safe travels and a great time.

Julie, so happy you had time for a REAL post. It is so fun reading about the things you enjoy. It sounds as if you will be busy with something you love, learning the new techniques for the four movements. Learning new things is the best preventative for Alzheimer's, I have read. It is also good for the soul. keep us informed as you make progress with it.

Heidi, so glad you enjoyed the concert and had a safe trip. Nothing exciting happen on this trip? You have not had a mattress episode lately have you? hehehe Did you ever get the grass cut? I know you have had lots of rain so it grows so quickly.

We are forecast rain this weekend, the temps are cooler but humidity is high. I was out a bit yesterday. Staff had the grill working for us, I took advantage and cooled another steak. Aldis has had some really good top sirloin at the best price available locally, I had steak and coleslaw for lunch, with planned overs for the weekend, yeah.

The flower bed out by the alley is a riot of color! That one Homestead verbena has spread, covers about10 sq feet now, it is spectacular. the knock out rose is still blooming, and the mint has bolted and has the subtle blue flowers, and it is also huge! Daisies have done their do for the year, but add a nice green contrast to the petunias that are still blooming away. someone ran over the curb and crushed a few daisy plants, bummer, probably the dumpster trash pick up truck, he has to drive in, then back out f=after emptying the dumpsters, and for some reason jumps the curb too often. Poor daisies, but they keep coming back. One resident said if we buried pointed stakes there, and he ruptured tires a couple times, he might learn to stay away. I think that is not a good idea, but almost fun to think about, you know?

I need to order some books, but Joy is going to apply for us an amazon prime account to share, I want to wait for that. so I picked up one of the Earth's Children series books I have, and reread that. Enjoyed it again. I am wondering if I have the next book, only have 3 of the 8, I picked them up at a library sale for $1 each.

Just had my breakfast here at 1 pm, I slept the clock around, just getting up for meds and the necessary room. Perhaps I have now caught up on my sleep. So nice that I can sleep in when I want, no one waiting for me to get up and care for them

What wonderful news that Mama and MizT are both feeling well today! I hope that continues indefinitely!

Mama, I hope you enjoyed the birthday party!

MizT, the garden(s) sound wonderful! You have done well! Let us know how you like Amazon Prime! Will all orders need to be delivered to the same address? Just wondering how sharing an account will work.

June, your upcoming trip sounds wonderful! I hope you are able to comfortably get to everything you want to see! I understand there is a train that gets relatively close to the summit of Machu Picchu. I hope that is the case. Good luck with your trip - and with your computers!

Heidi, I hope you have rested well after the concert! Will IH make sure the gas can is full and paid for by the neighbor or by himself so the lawn can be mowed! Good luck with that!

I'm off to bed. Please feel free to share from the supply of positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, and !

I forgot to tell you all what IH did right before Ileft for the concert. I went outside to go, but first went over to my truck to get something out of it. I went into shock when I saw my truck. It was covered on 2 sides and the top with motor oil! A real mess! The next day, after I got back, I questioned IH about it. Oh, yeah. Nothing big. He accidently ran over a container of moter oil, and a little got on the tire of my truck. No, I explained... ALL of it got on my truck. And as it dried, dust and debris would stick to it and harden into a big mess. It needed to be cleaned off immediately by the person who caused the mess. He didn't know how, so I told him to take it to a car wash. Which he did this afternoon. After he got it back, and I inspected the job, I still got mad at him. He hadn't even apologized yet. I'm really sick of these childish antics where he pretends nothing happened until he gets caught at it. I told him that he behaves like an 8 year old child. Not like a responsible adult.

Heidi, I wish Gil would be more responsible, but does not seem he ever will. I do not know how you deal with this continuously. You are a strong woman

I have spent the weekend in my lounging clothes, not dressed or got out of my apartment. I finished one book, started another, made some soup, and cleaned up my kitchen. It has been very restful and enjoyable. We had a couple of t storms last night, lots of rain, thunder and lightning. I think that is why I wanted to take it easy this weekend, and it seemed to have helped a lot, too.

June, now I recall your going to Galapagus. That should be a wonderful trip. I have watched documentaries filmed there, and it seems wonderful. Do enjoy your trip.

That's all for now, hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hi all....Is everyone out enjoying their lives???? Sure hope that all are well enougth to have some fun. All is well here and I am still basically pain free. I bought Jazz home yesterday and his ashes join with my other dogs for safe keeping. When I die, all of the ashes, including Sully's will be scattered together...at least that is what I expect to happen since I've left instructions to that en, and my kids usually follow my wishes pretty well. If they don't I'll just have to come back and haunt them...Lol.
Take care and enjoy the weather if its good, and for those of you who are faced with so much flooding from the rains....please stay safe and strong. May we all know peace and joy in our lives in spite of the often heavy challenges some face.

Unknown things bother me, and are often hard to figure for doctors to weigh in on, but some things while scary, have a simple solution...I hope your case is an easy one to figure and fix Heidi. Pleased you will see the doctor Thursday.
Meant to say that , while getting to the party Saturday was a lot harder than I had expected, I had a great time and I recovered well...I can really report progress. The use of pain meds has decreased greatly...Thanks to all of you for listening to my cries and helped me through the hurt....It helped.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood today. Low temps, low humidity, a nice breeze, blue skies. I have put in my order for about 3 months of days like this

We had a lemonade party today out on the patio. Today was national lemonade day, who knew? The perfect day for it, too. cheese and crackers, the good kind, to go with our lemonade, too.

I have been having more and more tummy problems, was about ready to make appointment with a doc to see if we could figure this out. today I ordered a refill of my new med, and reading the info that comes with, what jumps out at me? 'report to doctor any new or worsening abdominal pain'. Drats, this had seemed to help with my arthritis pain, but the tummy pains were getting unmanageable. I will phone prescribing doc tomorrow and have a talk with his nurse, but no more of that med. The bad part? this was the med I had to pay for, not covered by insurance. I now have a month's supply of a med I may never be able to take. I wonder how long I shall have to be off it to see improved tummy??? Hope it is soon. I am taking my acheing tummy to bed now, with a heating pad, to see if that helps some.

I did read, forgot what i was going to say, other than Heidi, hope the eye doc can figure what is happening to vision blacking out. May it be something small and easily remedied.

Mama, glad you can say you are still pain free, that must be wonderful for you. I do hope it continues and the back heals quickly now.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Slowly getting my things together for our holiday. Laura will be here for dinner tomorrow night and part of Saturday. I still have to get some of the garden organised so my plants do not die. we had some nice rain but nothing like Suzy and others closer to the south coast areas of Sydney.
I told Hubby today that this new laptop is the same size as the one I objected to carrying on our holidays years ago and the reason I bought the 10 inch one! My fault as I should have insisted I wanted the smaller notebook!

June, I will discuss that with the nurse when I speak with her. Not sure I want a med to counter the effects of a different med. If it does not agree, it is telling me something.

I was up about 5 am to go to bathroom. I walk in and feel something spattering on my face and arms. turn on the light, and water is dripping from the ceiling over my tub. It is hitting the edge of the tub and spattering all over. I put a pan under it and phone the 'after hours emergency number'. While waiting for an answer, the pan fills with 2 inches of water, yuck. It dripped for over an hour, I had a trash can and the pan balanced on the edge of the tub to catch it. It has at last stopped dripping, not a word from maintenance people. I have wet bath mat, and chamois cloths and towels on the floor, those will have to go to laundry later today. I sure could go back to sleep now, but worry that the leak will return.

Hi Julie, Bye Julie, good of you to pop in.

June, enjoy your time with Laura before your trip. I am sorry you are unhappy with your laptop. I hope it will serve you well on your trip.

Nothing else going on here at 7 am, I think I shall go back to bed. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

I leave for the eye doctor in half an hour. I asked IH to drive me, since I'll have my eyes dialated for the exam, and I hate driving home with dialated eyes. IH said he would, since his schedule was completely open. A few minutes ago, he came up to me and told me he had a bunch of errands to run, and ''Would it make more sense to take 2 separate vehicles?'' ''No it wouldn't, you moron!!! The whole idea was to keep me from having to drive home withdialated eyes!!!!'' So I'm just going to drive myself there and back. It's less stressful than dealing with his idiocy.

I am relieved. My eyes have changed drasticly since my last eye exam. My present glasses have been causing severe headaches and migraines. The blood vessels in the head contract during a migraine, even a mild one, and that has been causing the blood flow to my right eye to be cut off, resulting in the eye blacking out. We think. I also need to have my cholesterol checked, because that could be causing small blood clots blocking the blood flow to that eye. We NEED to check that, because if that is the cause, I could end up having a stroke.

Heidi, I do hope the new glasses put an end to the headaches and migraines. Let us know when you get results on the cholesterol. I do hope that is normal and not a problem.

Lin still was not up to playing scrabble with us today, so another 3 handed game. We played for 2 hours, then spent 2 hours just talking. I thought I was going to have to be referee, Mary and Judy were having a disagreement, over what time lunch came today. Now what difference did that make? but they were both sure they were right and the other wrong. Reminded me of kindergartners hehehe. Hope Linn is able to play with us next week.

Friend Nonie, who had the stroke will be moving out of town for a nursing home near her son, in South Alabama. she just is not making any improvements. I am sure that lying on the floor for 48+ hours after the stroke is part of the reason. It is like with a heart attack, the sooner they can get to you, the better chances for recovery. I wonder if she regrets not wearing her call button now? Wish we could have convinced her to wear it. I noticed today Judy did not have here, either. that is such a risk, when they are furnished to us free of charge, why will people not keep them on?

Maintenance got here about 8 am, with the wet vac, which I did not need. some time earlier the water had stopped dripping, Tim said he turned it off. Somewhere above me, but not Susan's apartment which is right above, a valve broke sending water down. Tanya took home the soaked bath mat and towels and such I used to soak up the water to wash and dry, thank you Tanya. I did not get the tub disinfected yet, but maybe first thing tomorrow.

another low humidity day today with a nice breeze. A nice day to be outside. My tummy is a lot better, too. I hope it returns to normal in the next few days. I have the worst luck trying to take medicine, things that work for others just do not work for me, bummer.

Time for bed, it is the wee hours already. hugs to each of you, with extras, till tomorrow.

Hi, Everyone!

Another quick visit, as the evening has slipped away.

June, I hope the laptop will not be too unwieldy on your trip. It's so nice that you are able to get time with Laura! Will she be able to give you any help with gathering things you'll need for your trip?

MizT, how awful to need to deal with dripping water during the night. Hopefully there will be no residual damage! I'm glad Tanya was able to come over and get the towels and things to wash them for you! I'm glad you were able to get some Scrabble time. So sorry to hear that your friend Nonie is not making improvement and won't be able to return. I'm so glad you are sensible and wear the call button that is provided! I hope you were able to get back to sleep!

Heidi, the eye doctor's current diagnosis seems to be better than you anticipated. I hope any further testing corroborates the initial diagnosis. I also hope that high cholesterol does not contribute to the problems you were having.

It's time to hop into bed. Sending , healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, and prayers for everyone!

Evenin' all,
I've read but I don't remember much. I worked today and it's wiped me out, I've also had 2 glasses of my weekend wine. 6 periods with sweethearts of all ages. Well not really, years 7 through 9 today.

Earlier this week we had 400mm of rain in 2 days, that's about 16 inches. We were okay, but others around us weren't as lucky.

I lost a friend to cancer this week.. I'd been staying away because the kids have been bringing sickness into the house and I didn't want to take it to her. Sigh, too late now.

Dropping in with greetings for all. Things are okay here, and seems as if they may be improving all about...at least I sure hope so. Tricia...no fun in the dripping waters for you but hope all is now dry and cleaned up. Heidi, my hope for your new glasses to help with the problems you've encountered and that the cholesterol is lowered before it does more harm. Suzy, condolences on the loss of your friend, but happy to see you posting...wiped out from work and all. June, safe travels and a wonderful trip is my wish for you...As for the rest of those who come when they can...looking forward to reading of your happenings and hope they are good times aplenty.
May all find the joy greater than the challenges, yet continue to deal with all that must be faced with love. Peace.
