Hi, Everyone!

Thanks for the TOPP, Suzy. Excellent choice!

Great 'risky' story, DOrA!

Love the quote Suzy. Also made me think of Sharon.
Heidi, sorry about your friend, but pleased that it was not a homicide.
Weather cooling down. I have lost a lot of my insulation and I seem to be feeling the cold more (the weight is still coming down)
Played bowls on Tuesday for the first time in months. played well and we won. Then we went to a live musical that night 'Catch me if you can' and it was a good show. (True story about the boy who pretended to be a pilot, Judge and Doctor and forget lots of cheques) About 50 people in the cast.
I did read the posts on the last page but yesterday. Thinking of you all.

Well, I got to page 215, so in case this computer does not open to current page, I will say HI Friends. Obviously I have not read latest posts.

Must hang around the house today, waiting a call from doc's office. I still have not got the Rx prescribed 10 days ago. Pharmacy said it needs prior approval. I asked them on the 20th to please let my doctor know. Was told they would fax forms to doc. Phoned doc today just to check, nope, never got it. If you not stay on your toes, and do the work of others, be your own advocate for all things medical, you just fall through the cracks. Hope to hear back from them today, or it will be Tuesday fore I can follow up again. they are closed every Friday and Monday is a holiday. This day and age, people must not get sick over a holiday weekend. AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHH

The itchy scaly patches have not gone away, they have just moved. clear up in one spot, appear in another. I had so hoped just coming off the medication that caused this would be enough for it to clear. So I dab on cortisone cream, extra strength, until they get me the medicine that should help with not only the skin problem, but with the arthritis too.

All at once, nothing first, pansies became crispy critters. Yes, they were watered, but just could not stand the sun and heat. Our daily temps are getting into the 80's, bye bye Pansies. I had bought some replacement summer flowers Monday, since the first of the pansies were looking sad. Finished potting those up yesterday. Marigolds, Purple and white petunias, Portulaca (moss rose), coleus for the one shady container I had not planted, and pink begonias. Hummm, I think I have one more 6 pack of begonias still, must check that out after I get my phone call. The one geranium I have is outdoing itself. I counted 14 blooms, none yet fully open, on this one plant, in a 10 inch hanging plastic pot. That one needs water, often.

Tanya made some zucchini low carb muffins for me. I had one this morning, with a peach, and made a yummy breakfast.

Need to go put together something for lunch. I have roast chicken, and salad makings, not sure if I have planned over vegetables, but can easily steam squash or cauliflower. Beginning to sound like a really nice lunch

Hugs to each of you, with extras. I shall set this machine to opening the current page 218, see if I can read after lunch. It is taking ages to open a page here now.

Suzy, your good deed for the day is still important, and commendable. It is not the size of the gift, but the fact that you saw a need and you helped. Goodonya.

Hiedi, of course you would step up to help with funeral expenses, that is just how you are made. You are one of the most compassionate, caring people I know. I am so glad to hear Melissa's death was not due to homicide. It will be so much easier on friends and family knowing this. Of course law enforcement had to investigate, with blood on the scene, first thing to come to mind for them is homicide, then accident. Natural causes and a pool of blood do not usually go together. They were just doing their job.

Never did hear back from doc. I missed the window of opportunity to phone the office again. A neighbor dropped in, asking my advise on something. I had really rather not be involved, a dispute with management here, but I listened noncommittally to what she had to say. I did have one good suggestion for her, Ask for a copy of the letter they want her to sign, saying she wants to take to lawyer to read before she can sign it. Be interesting to see if they will give it to her, I do not think they will. When she left, I looked at clock, and ooops, doc office is now closed. I can check with insurance co tomorrow, at least they are open on Friday, see if the paperwork got to them.

DORA, loved the risky joke. Reminds me of my dad, who when I complained of a headache, said he could fix it with a hammer. I would forget my headache if he dropped the hammer on my toe. It is a matter of degrees of pain .

Midge, I like your idea of a party 2 weeks after son's birthday. That would be a good surprise for him. Your friend who walked some of the Great Wall is remarkable. I am much younger than she, and could not even survive the plane trip to China, walking the wall would not even be in my thoughts. Hope you have a very good time on your bus trip with friends. Congratulations in order, you are able to return after 4 years, yeah!

Still no rain, I must check my calendar to see when I last watered the in ground plants. So dry, they shall need water at least once a week, perhaps more.

OH, I can see from my window, the daisies are in bloom. Those were one of the first flowers I saw growing here, my first spring. They have had multiple accidents. First spring, the garbage truck ran over them while in full bloom, took out half of them. I staked back into upright position those that were still intact, just bruised, they survived. Later, the alley was repaved, and a curb installed, to try to control direction of water during flash floods. They were buried under gravel, which I removed, they survived once again. next early spring when dormant but about to break through the ground in spring, bricks were stacked on top of them, and the red clay from the 2 foot deep foundation for a low retaining wall was on top of them, they came up through the extra inches of packed red clay. they h

Busy day tomorrow. We're working cattle all morning. Then I'll have 2 hours to recover, then we're having a bunch of volunteers come to the main cemetery, where we'll be putting up flags on all the veteran's graves. Because of all the volunteers, I'll be setting up a grill and serving hot dogs and drinks to the workers. There are so many veterans buried there that it takes a few hours to set up the flags.

Just a quick hello, as it's later than I thought.

MizT, I'm sorry you missed the opportunity to call your doctor's office. Hopefully, your call to your insurance company tomorrow will get everything straightened out so you can finally get the new medication! Hoping for some more moderate temperatures and a mild rain for all the flowers and plants so you don't have to do so much of the work!

I hate to tell you, MIzT, but your lovey and newsy post was chopped off. Luckily your daisies fared better than the post.

Hi also to June and Heidi.

Hopefully you'll have a lot of volunteers so you don't need to do too much of the flags set-up, Heidi!

June, congratulations on the win at bowls, but even more for doing well with your weight loss efforts!

And now, I'm off to bed. Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, healing energy, and for everyone!

Evenin' all.

Winter is sneaking in. In the 'feels like' temps anyway. There is a nasty cold wind out there tonight. All day actually. Gusts up to 70kph.

I hope you have good weather for the flag placing Heidi.

June, I'm not having any luck dropping weight. Hubby is though.

MizT, advocacy is a tough one. It's so important but at some point we lose the ability to keep track ourselves. It would be good if we could trust our doctors to do that for us.

The cattle have been worked, with only one problem. One cow acted up A LOT, jumping one fence, then after she was re-caught, smashing that same fence to pieces!!!That cow will be sold this Fall when it's time to wean her calf.
My RV is having a major electrical system problem.I don't know how quickly it can be repaired, since we're starting a 3 day weekend. It may prevent me from going to Wisconsin next week for my father-in-law's 92nd birthday party.

I'm off to the cemetery now to start up the grill to cook hot dogs. I need to stop at the store on the way there to buy a bag of ice for the drinks. I already have the flags for the crew to set up. I THINK there's 165 of them. I hope it's enough for all the veterans.

Life Explained

On the first day, God created the dog and said, “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.

For this I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said, 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

And God said that it was good.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh.. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said, 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?'

And God again said that it was good.

On the third day, God created the cow and said, 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said, 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed it was good.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But the human said, 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and
the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information.

I'm doing it as a public service.

If you are looking for me I will be on the front porch.

OH Julie, I could not check to see if all my post made it, and of course by now, I do not remember what else I said. thanks for the heads up and the wishes for rain. It has not happened yet. the daisies are not blooming, they look so pretty!

Heidi, I am glad you had volunteers to put flags on the veterans graves. Flags were put on my husbands grave, as he is buried in a National Cemetery. Cemeteries have flags for Memorial Day and veterans day. Wreaths for Christmas, too. I have not got down there to see the flags this year. Joy usually goes and takes a photo, hope she can tomorrow.

Suzy, Has it warmed any in your location? I read on TOS that temps dropped after a storm system came through, so hope with it's passing temps will moderate for you. there is just no escaping that cold howling wind.

Heidi, sorry to hear you hurt your back unloading dog food. Hope it gets better.

It is late here, my sleeping and pain meds are not working. Having a cup of herbal sleepy time tea to see if that will help the meds to work. Apartment is a bit warm, too, AC struggling to keep it almost cool. I like a cool bedroom to sleep. the fan I have on in bedroom helps some.

Insurance co did not have the forms needed when I called. Does not mean they had not been sent, just have not got through the channels yet. Will try again Tuesday. I did get the bank statments I need for recertifiction, so perhaps I can now get the needed documentation from doctors, now that I know who I paid, how much and when. The people who think just anyone can walk in and get money from the government should see what we have to go through to the the little bit of help we do get. My rent is only about 10% less than 'market value', but I have all kinds of hoops to jump through every year.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Quick call - good news Suzy - 6 months between checkups is a good sign. Sorry your back is hurting so much Heidi - hope you are not going to collect those flags yourself. MizT - your weather sounds lovely - we are getting cold here and I don't like it. Should move north or the warmer weather - went a bit north (Albury) for the weekend and it was great - sun shining and frost in the morning to get you moving. From what you have told us you certainly do have to go through the hoops for very little assistance - makes you wonder sometimes. Hubby had audio check today and I am having fun mouthing at him pretending to speak. Cheers for now.

Have fun driving Hubby nuts, Midge!

There were 4 of us picking up flags. It went quickly.

I found out that Melissa's husband, Thomas, has a bad problem with alcoholism. I told Gil about it, and have assigned him the task of talking to Thomas about his brother Jon, who is institutionalized with brain damage due to alcoholism. Gil os willing to do it to honor Melissa's memory. There's nothing he can do to help Jon now, but maybe he can save Thomas from that fate, or worse.

Hi, Everyone!

I see my post from last night was lost. My apologies to everyone, but I'm afraid I don't have it in me to try to reproduce it. I know it involved responses to DOrA, MizT, Suzy, and Heidi. I agree with much of what Midge said in her first post above.

Very clever to pretend to speak to your hubby, Midge. Has he caught on?

Heidi, I hope Gil can have the alcoholism talk with Melissa's husband in a way that will open his eyes and convince him to abstain. One of my nephews, whose father has some issues with alcoholism, has married into a family that seems to have even more of a problem. SO many photos on social media involve drinking, including the monthly (I think) loading of cases of beer into the house. It's very scary.

I hope everyone is feeling reasonably well and am sending healing energy, positive thoughts, , prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone!

Midge, I didn't know you had some devil in you! How is your hubby handling it?

Heidi, I'm guessing that losing his wife so suddenly will only make Melissa's husband worse, at least for a while. I hope for his sake that Gil can help though.

Julie, I'm hoping you've caught up on some sleep.

Helped Dana do her shopping today. It's hard when she has all 3 kids. Isobel eats mass quantities! I asked why she isn't the size of an elephant and Dana said it's because she doesn't let her overeat. They don't get junk food and she is given plenty of food and then water. I gave her chocolate chip muffin today. Junk food, but it was split between all 3 kids.

Suzy, one Chocolate muffin, split 3 ways is a treat. Life needs a few treats. It is all about moderation. Besides, grandma should be able to spoil the littles.

Midge, so funny what you did to your hubby. Hope he is a good sport about it.

today it was a bit easier to get here. I have to sign in every time going this route, an it takes varying ab=mounts of time to get each page to come up, but I managed.

the insurance co still had not got the request yesterday. I called the doc office, they had not sent it, might get it sent this week. I let the receptionist know I had been without medication for 3 weeks, that the psoriasis rash that the nurse had seen was worse, And my pain levels were through the roof. that got me a sample of the med while they await approval, and a dose pack of steroids for the psoriasis. I shall feel good while on the steroids, just hope the rash clears and stays gone, and that I can sleep.

Suzy, my daughter helped me with my grocery shopping today. I stock up on the heavy things, bottled water, colas, canned goods etc. when she is helping, as she can get them up to apartment for me. I know I appreciate her help and I am sure that dana appreciates your help. I had only one child to take to groceries at a time, mine were that widely spaced, but remember how that had to be planned between naps, and meals, so that one child was in good mode. You are a thoughtful grandma.

We did have rain, nice t storms yesterday here. Drove through more on way to grocery today. looks as if we had a brief shower while I was away. yesterday the temp dropped form 90 to 70 in less than an hour as the t storm came through. My apartment got cool first time in 3 days, yeah t storms.

Hugs to each of you, with extras,

Hi, Everyone!

Suzy, how lucky Dana is that you accompanied the shopping trip. I only had 2 littles to shop with years ago, and that was enough for me. I agree that Grandmas are allowed to spoil a little, and a 3-way share of a chocolate chip muffin doesn't really qualify as spoiling.

MizT, I'm glad you finally got some rain - and also had your daughters help for some big shopping! But I share your frustration with the doctor's office for dragging their feet on getting forms to and from the insurance company! They should have to 'walk a mile' or 2 or 3 in your shoes!

Heidi, it's too bad you won't be able to enjoy some decent weather while Gil is away. However, naps are a good alternative!

Midge, I enjoyed both of your jokes tremendously. I think we're probably a good audience for that type of joke!

I found out today that my cello teacher had better numbers at her doctor visit. Thank you all for the continued prayers!

Hi, Suzy. Looks like you'll have a VERY busy and full Saturday. Will some of the shopping you need to do be associated with a certain someone's 3rd birthday?

Sorry, Midge. No ideas for a birthday present for your son. Our daughters are very particular, but we have found that cash is usually appreciated. I know; it's not much help as far as ideas go. But if you think he's interested in a surfboard, perhaps a gift certificate that will allow him to choose just the right surfboard for his needs.

Julie, it was an adult present problem today. The 3 year old was relatively easy, the adult not so much. I'm still not sure about the adults gift. Oh well I tried and it took me forever too.

Midge, I asked hubby and he had no ideas. (What he actually said was a bikini wax, because he's so funny, not). Absent minded professor type said gift certificate at a book shop, but I probably stretched the analogy too far. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

We've got a few days of rain forecast, heavy heavy rain with strong winds. Of course because it's forecast and everyone is preparing it probably won't happen. Murphy and all that.
