Glad your mower is fixed Heidi.

Thinking of you Julie.

Hope you are feeling well June.

Your gardens sound amazing MizT.

Hope you are enjoying the quiet Midge. I enjoy quiet time, but miss my kids if I don't see them for a while.

Alie's interview went well, but apparently 100s of people applied so she isn't holding her breath.

I've finally got an appointment with the neurologist at the end of the month.

Thank you, DOrA! I certainly enjoyed all 3 contributions, but laughed most for the 'funeral.'

Heidi, I read the beginning of your post, and was SHOCKED that you would spend $80 for a belt, of all things. THEN I read the next sentence. I'm chuckling again. (It must be getting late.)

Great TOPP, Suzy! I'm glad Alie's interview went well. Will cross fingers & toes for her! Good news that you have an appointment scheduled with the neurologist. Hopefully he/she will have even better news for you!

Enjoying the week away in Central west NSW. Lovely wheat and sheep country. Lots of rolling hills with random trees. Plenty of food and hard to keep to my diet. Feeling very well. Today we visited Western Plains Zoo, A breading zoo attached to Taronga Zoo in Sydney. They have both a baby white Rhino and a baby black Rhino. Three baby Giraffes and quite a few other breading animals. I have been here a couple of times before.

Primary elections in Kentucky today. It was almost a tie between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, but Mrs Clinton barely squeezed out a victory..... by only .4% of the vote!

Greetings friends. It has been longer since I posted than I remember, my apologies.

The medication I had stopped taking was the cause of my itch. I was told I had had a paradoxical reaction to the drug, as it is often used as treatment for psoriasis, and that is what my itching was from. Lovely to have that added to the mix, NOT.

I am waiting for pharmacy to send the new medication. I will be self injecting methotrexate once a week. Wish me lots of luck with that, and join me in hoping my insurance will pay for this. I am still having some itching, but not nearly as much as before. The new injections are for both the psoriasis and the arthritis. such a long list of side effects, but I am told at this low dose and only once a week, I should have no problems.

Heidi, still no news about the upside down car incident? That is a bit too close to home for comfort.

I am shocked at the $80 cost for a belt for lawnmower. So glad you were able to get the rest of the overgrown grass mowed. How many bales of hay did your mowing yield? hehehe

June, your visit to the zoo and all the baby animals sounds so nice. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed reading about it.

Well, it is so much easier for me to change pages here on site, than previously. I read that Gath was changing computers that host the site. Whatever happened, I am happy with results. Perhaps I can get here more often now it is easier to navigate the page.

DORA, cute contributions to the site, they gave me a chuckle. Thanks for sharing.

SUZY, keeping fingers crossed for Allie, hope she gets the job. I am happy for you, getting the medical appointment, and hope you get some answers from this doc.

I won one game today at scrabble, the second one was very close. Only 3 playing today, as Mary is getting ready for a trip leaving early tomorrow. Her daughter is here, they had errands to do in preparation for the trip tomorrow. Always miss whichever player cannot make it to scrabble.

today was week two without my cleaning lady. It seems she fell in our parking lot and sprained her ankle. the director of the service phoned me after I asked what had happened that Ann did not come or call last week. The director told me what had happened, and that she was trying to get someone to cover her clients. I am lucky, Tanya and I got the cleaning done today, all the washing was done, until I had a shower and change of clothes, that is. Laundry does not stay caught up for long, does it?

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

OK.... the story of the police chase and upside-down car was the top headline in the local paper. It wasn't a gunshot that Gil heard, it was a tazer. They had to tazer the guy twice. I don't really understand the story, but.... here it is:

Why autism is awesome anecdote:
Today at preschool they were teaching the kids to write their own name. Tahli's name is written across the top of the page and she is asked to copy her name underneath. She drew a self portrait.

My god... what a horrific day. First we learned that a cousin of Gil's passed away during the night from cancer. We had been planning on visiting him one last time on Sunday. Just a half hour ago, I found out that a dear friend (locally) was found this morning (by her husband who works at night and had just got home) unresponsive in a pool of blood. Cause of death is unknown. She was only about 40 years old. Her daughter is graduating from high school in a couple of weeks.

Heidi, so sorry to hear of the death of both a relative and a close friend. Thoughts and prayers to you and the families.

Heidi, I got a strange message from the news link, it said I had used my free access to articles for this month, but I have never been there before. Strange.

Suzy, how sweet that T did a self portrait. I do hope she can learn to write her name soon. Suzy, I just finished book 5 9f a series of books. Book 6 will not be out till September, and the author sure left a cliff hanger at the end of this book. I feel out of sorts now, and at loose ends, cause I did a marathon read of all 5 books. What will I do now till September?? Anyone else get so involved with a story they feel lost when the story ends?

Today was Older Americans Day. We had a picnic lunch prepared by staff, but it was indoors since a strong possibility of rain, which did not happen. Hot dogs cooked on the grill, baked beans a unusual and very good slaw, and potato chips. Small slices of watermelon and/or a cookie for desert. I did enjoy the lunch.

Tomorrow some of us are going by bus to Pepper Place. I may have told you about this place last year, it is an upscale farmers market, plus vendors of hand crafted items, plus lots of tempting food. Usually some music on the makeshift stage. Leaving at 8 am, way early for me to be up and dressed. I shall shower tonight, will find something for breakfast at one of the eateries. We will get Dept of Agriculture coupons for produce, must be used with the farmer who raised the produce, but they have not yet arrived for this trip. It should be a nice, cool temp that early, and a lot of fun.

Hugs to each of you, with extras,

This evening Gil slipped on some wet wooden steps (it's still raining!) fell, and hit his head. He has a big lump and, I believe, a concussion. He's under orders to take it easy, and let me know if he has any other symptoms besides pain.

HI, Everyone! Well, I made it through the recital! Not perfect, by any means, but made it through and may even have smiled at the audience before my bow. (And I didn't beat myself up about the slips I made.)

Suzy, cute anecdote about Tahli. Part of the situation may be that she hasn't previously been exposed to 'teacher talk' giving directions. It takes some getting used to.

Heidi, what a day for you! So sorry to hear about Gil's cousin and your friend! And then for Gil to have a possible concussion from his fall! Hopefully that won't prevent you from going to Millionaire's Row at Churchill Downs and betting on the Preakness.

MizT, at least you got to have your picnic meal, even if it was indoors. Have fun at Pepper Place tomorrow!

Julie, I'm glad the recital went so well! Do you think you could teach Alie not to beat herself up.

Julie, you might be right about Tahli, though she has been going to preschool for 7 or 8 months now.

I'm breathing out after a long day with the grand kids. Love them to death, but they are tiring.

Churchill Downs was wonderful! And I did bet on Eggagerator to win the Preakness.

It was a sad day at Pimlico Race track, where the Preakness was held. The horse that won the first race there had a heart attack in the winner's circle and died. Then in the 4th race, a horse broke it's leg (it was bred by Barbaro's owners!) went down and injured the jockey.... a broken collar bone.... and the horse had to be euthanized on the track.

Greetings to each of you!

Suzy, I'm a bit surprised that Alie beats herself up after a performance. I see her as a very talented and confident young woman. But I'm also not completely surprised because I know what goes through the heads of performers. This year I was able to convince myself that my preparation was thorough and complete. I've been doing a lot of reading about stage fright. I stood confidently backstage before walking out. I actually looked at audience members, rather than not really seeing them. I followed someone's advice to choose someone from the audience to play for. I reminded myself that it was NOT about me, but about sharing the composer's music with the audience. I knew the music was well memorized and that I could probably jump back in after only a couple of notes if I had a memory slip or fingers jumbled. Would I have liked to play perfectly? Of course! But I played the very best I could at that exact moment. For me, I think that reading about how others dealt with a similar situation helped. I'm not sure if it would help Alie, but it's certainly worth a try!

DOrA, I didn't see the race, and found I was confused about the track where it took place - maybe because Heidi had shared with us that she would be going to Churchill Downs. What a shame about the 2 horses and the jockey who was injured.

Heidi, I hope it was a successful day for you! Did you win anything? How is Gil feeling today?

It's time to call it a night. Sending prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, , and positive thoughts for everyone!

Heidi, when horses die here there is an immediate call to end the cruelty of racing. Big voices, not a lot of influence.

Julie, Alie won't listen to recordings if she missed even one note. In her younger days she's even cried over a performance people loved. A song she wrote when she was 15 is my absolute favourite. She won't play it.

Gtreetings friends. Yesterday at Pepper Place was fun. there were 2 different areas with live music. I stopped at one (this one in the shade) and listened, as I ate my sausage and biscuit breakfast. some cute little girls, from toddler to preschool age, were dancing to the music. One of the older ones got her dad to come dance with her. As she danced off, a very young toddler came up and hald the young man's hands and danced. Older child came straight back and took her dad's hands from the younger. It turns out, he was not the second child's dad, and the older child reclaimed her right to dance with dad. Kinda cute

One of the musicians is the SIL of n EP resident. He plays with many bands locally, since he is now retired, has time to go out and play often. He has brought several different 3 and 4 piece bands here to play for us at different parties. Always enjoy listening to his bluegrass/country music.

I bought strawberries and some of the first local peaches. I know the farm, from when I lived in Chilton county. I went passed it often, stopped at their farm stand to buy fruits many times. Why are foods more expensive at the farmer's market than they are at Aldis?

Heidi, so sad about the two horses at the race. How much did you bet and how much did you win?

Julie, I am glad you felt better about your performance at the recital than in the past. As long as you do the best you can at any given time, you should be very proud of yourself.

Still no measurable rain here, I need to get dressed and outside to water. So happy it is still cool mornings for now, hope it continues.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Just about everybody in our group at Churchill Downs yesterday (16 of us) knew Melissa well. We kept talking about her all day, since we can't believe she's actually gone. She was only 42 years old and a vital part of the community. One in the group was listening to the police radio when they discovered her on Friday, and he shocked us when he told that they're investigating it as a crime scene! We thought it was an accidental death, but it turns out that the police suspect murder!!!! They said that the house was disarrayed and there was blood all over the place. I'm praying that it wasn't a homicide. I don't want to think that she passed away in terror. And I don't want to think that something like that can happen in our neighborhood.

I just talked to Melissa's father. It was natural causes, most likely an aneurism.
Melissa's husband made a mistake with their insurance, so her funeral isn't covered. And they can't afford it. So I have offered to pay funeral expenses. People keep saying that they'd like to help when a person they care for passes away. This is the only thing I can think of that can take some of the burden off the family.

We just watched Deadpool. If you don't like gore, lots of gore, or not subtle $exual references, or nudity, don't watch it. If you like, or can tolerate, those things it's a really funny movie. Really funny. Do not, repeat do not, watch it if there are kids in the house.

I'm not paying for the entire funeral. While we were at Churchill Downs, my friend Debbie showed me an entry on FaceBook from Melissa's sister, asking for donations for the funeral expenses. Donations have been coming in: over $1,000 has arrived already. I offered to make up the remainder, which will be the lion's share, probably. Their famiy is going through enough right now (they lost another family member 3 weeks ago) and don't need to worry about where the money will come from, as well. I can cinch up my belt a little. I don't need to help with funeral expenses for Gil's cousin. There aren't any. He donated his body to a medical school.

You have a kind heart Heidi. So much has happened since I was here last. Sorry to read of the passings - always a difficult time.
Went to Brisbane a week ago and caught up with an old friend of the family who lives in a lovely place called Mudjimba- 89 and she has just walked part of the Great Wall of China - what a fantastic achievement. Then to Bribie Island to visit our old neighbour from when we lived in Jindalee in the 70's. I am so glad I was able to see them as they have been a special part of my life. Also to the Gold Coast to see SIL. Daughter took their new pound dog to the vet and clever people had a stray kitten in a cage. So she now has 2 cats and a dog. She has promised no more until she has her own place. It is Kidney Week here in Victoria with a special service on Sunday. I went to it last year and it was very moving meeting donor families and recipients. This year I will be on a bus trip with some old friends for the weekend - we used to do this trip 3 times a year but now only once a year and I haven't been well enough to go for the past 4 years so I am really looking forward to it. I am so lucky to have this time because of my donor and thank him every day. Son no. 2 back from Bali, son no, 1 still there somewhere. Heard from him a week ago and he was surfing and snorkelling, but knowing him he could be in another country by now. He will be 40 soon and I think he is going to stay away so we cannot arrange a celebration for him. I am hoping to arrange something a couple of weeks after his birthday so it will be a surprise. Hope everyone keeps well.

Greetings from me to all of you!

Suzy, thanks for the 'heads up' on Deadpool. I tend to do most of my movie watching when I donate platelets, but haven't been able to do that for a few months due to crazy schedules and several rounds of antibiotics.

Heidi, you are such a good and kind-hearted friend. I'm glad there are a few others who can contribute to the costs.

Midge, seems like your family enjoys travel! I bet you're right about your son trying to stay away to avoid a possible birthday celebration! I'm glad you are now healthy enough to do some traveling!

A risky (Risqué) Golf story

A couple of old guys were golfing when one mentioned that he was going to go to Dr. Nanney for a new set of dentures the next morning.

His elderly buddy remarked that he, too, had gone to the very same dentist two years before.

'Is that so?' asked the first old guy. 'Did he do a good job?'

The second oldster replied, 'Well, I was on the golf course yesterday when a guy on the next fairway shanked his tee shot. The ball must have been going at least 180 mph when it slammed me right in the nuts.'

The first old guy was confused and asked, 'What the hell does that have to do with your dentures?'

'It was the first time in two years my teeth didn't hurt.'
