It was a very loud and bright storm Julie. My favourite kind.
June, when my kids were little we would watch the ball drop in New York, throw confetti and shout happy new year. They were convinced they'd stayed up until midnight. In fact Alie had an argument with me a few years ago 'We did too stay up until midnight!' It was funny. I should clarify that on the west coast it was only 9pm

I'm leaving in an hour to go visit Rede in his new home. His new owners have a picture of him for me.... wearing a Santa hat! You can tell that they love him, too.

I'm back from the visit. They're gonna email me the pictures of Rede, then I'll post one. He's very happy where he is, and they adore him. He's getting all the feed he wants, and plenty of girlfriends. They told me that he bred 3 cows in the first hour he was there. (Ours were already bred, so he'd have had no breeding opportunities here until next May.)

I just posted a picture of Rede wearing his Santa hat. This hat was the largest they could find, and the picture was taken in a dark barn, so it came out grainy. But Rede had no problem with it.

June, I can understand your feelings as the new year starts, it is so full of uncertainties for you. Our lives are as full of uncertainties, but we just do not know as much about them as you do about yours. Does that make sense? So happy to hear what the docs say about you! may these good reports be all you hear in the coming year.
Had my MRI of neck, nothing remarkable. they did see a little something they want followed, a shadow in one of the bones, vertebra, but it is innocent enough for now. Headaches are getting less intense. I think the Aspercream with lidocaine is helping a lot, but I will NOT cancel the procedure. As sure as I did, it would flare again, and back to square one getting it scheduled. We should hear something Tuesday, that should be 72 hours of business days, and that is what they must do since it was requested it be expedited. I was shocked when I added up all the co pays I have had to pay for this headache, doctors, tests, medication not covered by insurance. I am just glad I had the funds to do it, but would have been more fun ways to spend that amount! I still have not received a bill for the ER visit and ambulance. since it was considered life threatening, may not have ambulance bill, and perhaps no ER bill either. The person at check out did not ask for $$$, a good sign.
I am currently without a cleaning lady. while I was sick, I realized I was having to straighten house before she came, then go behind her to finish things she left unfinished, when I was not able to do it. time for a change of cleaner. It will be a few weeks before they can juggle assignments and get me a new person. In the meantime I shall have Mary come in every 2 weeks, she does not need things de-cluttered for her to clean, she will just say, 'Talk to me, tell me where this goes, what you want done with it.' and go from there. Costs me more, but worth it totally.
Today I did laundry, and found 4 dish towels missing. Matching sets of 2, and these 4 are now singles. Wonder what happened to them? I will check with Tanya because she did take some things to her house to wash, but as they would have been in sets, do not understand why they did not come back in sets, either from her house or when Stephanie was doing laundry. a Puzzle for sure.
My tree came down yesterday, Tanya came over and helped store the boxes. she was very down, depressed. I hope it improves when we get some sunshine back again. Dull grey days, holidays over, New Years Resolutions and all that, easy to get down if you let yourself. I try to find new goals, even if it is just get my closet straightened once again, and make room in there on shelves for all my color books and pencils, all in one space.
Both my sisters have surgery scheduled, one on the 7th, Kathy having foot surgery. NO WEIGHT on that foot for 6 weeks, we are trying to help her figure what she can do since crutches are not a good option for her. Edna has surgery on that bulging disk in back on the 17,

Edna has surgery on that bulging disk in back on the 17, perhaps earlier if there is any cancellation, as her surgery will not take long. She then has to start walking on flat ground. Not any of that at her house. Needs to work up to 2-3 miles a day in a month. Cannot do the walking all at once at first, as she builds back stamina. Being flat in bed or sofa 4 months, you loose all stamina and endurance. I think her best bet is a tread mill. buy a used one and resell it once not needed again, or see if she can rent one. she is hoping to find one to borrow, but she can afford to buy, just pinch penny :). Driving to a gym with indoor track every day is a LOT of driving, lot of money on gas, as none are close. Not even a mall close to her. there is an outdoor track at the high school, for good days, but needing to walk multiple times a day at first is going to be hard doing that. Yep, tread mill would work best, hope she finds one.
Time for bed, night time meds re beginning to take effect. Hope I get a good nights sleep tonight, been doing OK on that lately, thankfully. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

May the blessings of the New Year be upon everyone! Heidi's post pictures it well!
Happy New Year to Broni, Pete, and Bella! Broni (and Pete) and Suzy, there's something refreshing about standing out in the rain!
Suzy, while it was frustrating to have hubby 'scold' you, it's nice to know that he feels he wants to be able to come to your assistance in a timely manner if necessary, but that's difficult if he doesn't know where you are. (I'm pretty sure my hubby would react in the same way.)
MizT, it's good to 'hear' from you. That headache has been a real 'headache' to you with so many required appointment, copays, etc. I hope the treatment will produce some improvement! Good luck with finding a new cleaning person, and I hope the missing dish towels will be found. Sending prayers for your upcoming treatment and for the best results for Kathy's and Edna's surgeries!
I'm falling asleep at the computer, and would prefer to be in bed, so I will say good night! Sending prayers, healing energy,

Hibernating here. Hubby is sick now, I'm getting better, but town has been over run with tourists anyway. I went in today to pick up a couple of essentials and was reminded why, at this time of year, if we don't absolutely need it we do without it.

Hi, Everyone!
Suzy, it's MOST understandable that you'd attempt to avoid the throngs of tourists. There are some things we can do without when necessary. Luckily our area is NOT a tourist area, but around the holidays, it's best to try to stay off the road and away from shopping (including groceries). I try to remember to stock up 3 or 4 days before a holiday, if possible! Get well soon to your hubby!
Thinking of of you, June, and having family for the holidays. Hopefully the boys' fighting wasn't too much of an annoyance. They may be at an age where all the visiting and travel isn't so much fun, and if they're bored, they're going to 'rattle each other's cage.' Hoping the upcoming doctor appointments and treatments go well!
Thanks for the ditto, Heidi. What I wrote really wasn't very remarkable, and unfortunately, I didn't 'speak' to everyone! I hope you're enjoying some quiet time with a lot less aggravation than you had to deal with previously. You mentioned that Rede had worked his magic with your cows before he was sold. Will calving be in the spring? (Sorry, I don't remember the gestation period.
Midge, I hope all's well with you and your family and you had wonderful and healthy holidays!
DOrA, we look forward to your visits. Hope all is well!
My apologies to those I've missed again. I'm off to bed (a bit earlier than usual), as tomorrow is another doctor appointment for hubby. I've been trying to figure out if he actually is getting used to my driving and doesn't mind it quite so much. It used to be that if the car moved, he was at the wheel, but that's been reversed since mid-October and his first surgery.
Sending healing energy, warm & positive thoughts,
, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}! Have the best day/afternoon/evening/night that you can! Good Night from here.

I have MizT's headache. It's been hanging around for about a week and it can't decide if it wants to be a migraine or not. It responds to migraine meds for only an hour or two.
Tomorrow morning Debbie has an appointment with a neurologist. I've offered to drive her in case I'm needed.

Good evening friends. I saw something unusual today, it was not here for long, but it was bright and round and yellow! Yep, sun peeked out for 5 minuets, then cloudy again. We had lots of rain the last several days. Unseasonably warm, too. Now it turns cold over next 48 hours, and with the continuing rain, somebody is gonna get snow. Not too likely for us, but totally depends on where the rain and the cold meet up. I have seen it just rain north of us, dry up before the cold, but snow south of us, cause it was still raining as the cold front came through. For the next week, it will be unseasonably cold, with the high for a couple of days barely above freezing, if the forecast is correct.
thanks for the good wishes for my dish towels, two of them reappeared, in my linen closet. Somehow got used and washed singly instead of the usual 2 at a time. Happy about that!
Heidi, sorry you 'caught' my headache. I hope it gets better soon. that headache medicine only working an hour or two sounds far to familiar. Get better soon, please. Mine continues to improve. No word from the pain clinic about my procedure, drats. I may recover before they get around to doing it.
Tanya roasted a duck today. She is adventurous with her cooking, promised to being me some for lunch tomorrow, sounds good.
Nothing much going on here. It seems every time I sit down, I fall asleep. I have had 2 or 3 nice naps today, and ready for bed yet again. It is so humid today, even inside. I am sure that will change as the weather changes to cold over the next 2 days. I need to find warm clothes, gonna need them if I stir from my apartment.
time for my warm milk and bed, hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hey Theresa! Welcome back!
Julie, stocking up before holidays is a good idea. The stores are closed only a few days a year here. The day before the closure people shop like they are preparing for a natural disaster! If I forget that and go to the store I leave as fast as I can.
Heidi, hope your headache is better.

Yes Suzy, I am OK. Next week may be different as I start back on treatment on Monday. I have Chemo tablets to take and the radiology treatment at 7.30 AM. I will have to get up and have a light breakfast at about 5 AM. The Chemo tablets will give me diarrhoea and make my hands and feel red and itchy and may peel. The ray treatment will make me nauseous. I have medication for all the side effects.
My sister told me about a cream sold in US to use with radiology to save the burning. It is called Jean's cream and costs US$42. I have ordered two tubes which with postage and converting to Aussie dollars is rather expensive so I do hope that it works.

I am enjoying spending time with the grandchildren. We went to Luna Park on Tuesday and 'Tree tops' yesterday. An interesting adventure where they wear a harness and grab clips. There are ladders, zip lines etc all through the tall trees. You are always clipped on as they venture around through the trees. They will all leave, including Laura, on Saturday.

I have read about five pages or so. June, I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. What a cruel, cruel disease. Big gentle hugs. Does Laura know? If so, this must be very upsetting for her.
I see Heidi finally got rid of the burden she has been carrying on her shoulders. I remember you saying you would not break your vows. Well, it has been done for you. Maybe now you can have the life you like and deserve.
Julie, your hubby's health problems are definitely a worry, and very tiring for you. Make sure you take care of yourself, young lady! I know, I know, easier said than done.

MizT, glad your headaches have somewhat subsided. I have been getting a lot of headaches, but generally Tylenol dulls them. I can't imagine going through what you're going through. My daughter has migraines quite often and they are totally debilitating for her. She is taking something for it, but it's like $20 a pill and she can only take so many a month I believe it is.
Suzy, your struggles continue. I'm not sure what the PTSD is relating to, but from reading I can tell your early life and mine have run parallel to each other somewhat.

Hubby passed his two hip surgeries last year with flying colours and is now back to normal. Ongoing issues with my oldest grandie.
Things from my childhood have sort of come back to bite me in the you-know-what. I am trying to deal with them as best I can. I have kicked some people out of my life, even though some may not know it yet. I have gone through depression on and off the last few years, and have sought help, only to be told I am dealing with things just fine. My immediate family (hubby and daughter) are very supportive. Not something I wish to discuss on the internet, but the depression is a new thing to me. Not feeling like eating, sleeping all the time, no energy. I don't like that because it feels like my life is not my own. Hopefully time with help.
Otherwise I am okay. My blood sugars are under control. My arthritis is nasty sometimes, but I go and lay down for a while with the hot water bottle and then I'm good as new, or at least 'used'. Tee hee

Depression is a horrible illness, Theresa. I've suffered through it most of my life and know how debilitating it is. I hope your doctor can readjust the chemical imbalance in the brain and get that burden off your shoulders.
So your eldest Grandie is still having problems? I remember how disrespectful she has always been to you. Didn't you once say she has Asperger's?
I gave the big television to IH since he watches it daily and I haven't watched it in several years. I prefer reading or watching DVDs. I have a smaller (20'' screen) TV in my bedroom which is set up for both DVDs and VCR/VHS, but it isn't hooked up to cable or satellite or anything. I don't miss it.

Heidi, grandie's problems have not yet been fully diagnosed. They thought they would have a definite diagnosis by the time she was 13, but she is almost 14 now. Could be somewhere in the autism spectrum, or borderline personality disorder, or bipolar. There have been further changes in her life that I can't really discuss here. If anyone wants to send me a PM perhaps I can better explain. She has definitely been a lot happier lately, even though she is a teenager.
I really missed the TV at first because I am home alone so much. I was using it more for company. Now I am back to reading, listening to music, and crafts. Back to the basics so to speak.

At last, a call saying they can now send a request 'upstairs to the scheduling ladies' to get my pain block in the neck. He is also wanting to do some 'further photo imaging' of entire body. I am not sure what that is about, asked the young man who phoned, he could not answer my questions. I will have to wait on the doc to answer I suppose. They did see some degeneration of vertebra in neck, and the pain block should help. I sure do hope so. Maybe they will call in the next week, tomorrow is last work day this week for them, do not expect it that soon, bummer.
We had 3 handed scrabble today, because Linn's daughter was visiting. they had plans for this afternoon. both games were close. I won the first but came from behind after the other two ran out of letters to pull ahead. that was fun! Tanya came and made lunch for us, cleaned out my fridge, even threw away some things I considered to still be edible, she did not. Brought some roasted duck, and broccoli, a tossed salad, then after lunch she went to grocery for me. while I played scrabble she cooked an eggplant Parmesan dish for our dinner, I enjoyed both meals today. Have some fresh cooked food in my fridge now :).
Nuttin else going on here. Theresa, good to see you posting. Hope you can recover from that depression, never fun.
I am off for a cup of coffee and some of my evening meds now, the remainder just before bedtime, in a couple of hours. Huge hugs to each of you, till later.

Greetings and Salutations!
What a pleasant surprise to see posts from Theresa! We have missed you. Depression is certainly NO fun, so hopefully the doctor can find the right meds to give you some relief! So sorry your older grandie hasn't been given a complete and accurate diagnosis, but happy to hear that she has been somewhat happier/calmer recently. I don't think I would miss a TV very much, but hubby certainly would. I'm so glad you have found alternative and enjoyable uses for your time!
Suzy, I hope the new year has started off well for you and your family - and hope your hubby is feeling better.
June, I'm so glad you have felt well and enjoyed the visits from family for the holidays. Hopefully the chemo and radiation will not cause as many side effects as have been mentioned, and certainly hope the Jean's Cream works well!
Heidi, you are so considerate to let IH have the big TV. I know some people who wouldn't give it to their former partner, even if they never turned it on. How are all your animals doing?
MizT, I hope the procedure will be scheduled soon and will produce the desired results! Your meals with Tanya sound yummy! Congratulations on your Scrabble win!
MizT and Heidi, I hope your headaches are subsiding!
My energy is running low, and hubby has another doctor appointment in the morning, so I'm off to bed. Take care, Everyone!

Theresa, I'm sorry your grandie hasn't got her diagnosis yet. Tahli has improved in leaps and bounds since she started her therapies. Her special ed trained preschool teacher helps too. Dana kept every piece of paper in a file from day one . It shortened the official diagnosis considerably. She is not as defiant as your grandie. She had a meltdown today when Dana had to cut her nails. She has meltdowns after big days. She wears earmuffs in loud places. She is loving, but not physically, though I do get more hugs now. I love her to bits, all of them actually, but her in particular because I worry about her future.
