We all need that. I have dependants, too, tho' not grandkids. Fur babies. If I ever decided to end it all, some of the dogs would have to be euthanized, and I couldn't be that selfish. They keep me going.

Great TOPP, Heidi.
So sorry to hear about Bob's prognosis. Sending prayers for the best possible outcome.
Suzy, I love Tahli's comment!
Heidi, you're so right about your defendants!
Suzy, I realized it had been a while since any posts on TOS from MizT, but not that it had been 2 weeks. Sending positive thoughts to her and her D!

I was cold today and achy. I think the chemo may have been hitting at my bones. We went shopping this afternoon but I was happy to get home and have a sleep. I have just taken a couple of panadol so hope I can go and get some sleep.
Love all your quotes Heidi. I hope you can get rid of that ear infection.
Having lunch tomorrow with some people I started working with back in about 1975. Will be great to catch up.

My computer is almost 'functional', again. Component changes followed by a fresh reload of windows. As usual, I lost information. This time all email addresses and emails I was saving and browser bookmarks...

My computer had run out of hard drive space and kept complaining with 'error messages'. When I do an upgrade, not often, I prefer to reformat at the same time. Clean house, as it were... It happens so infrequently that I never become proficient at it.

Why don't you take it in to a professional to do the cleaning for you? It may cost money, but you won't lose anything, including your patience or temper.

I saw Bob today. He's feeling a lot better, emotionally. He saw a different oncologist yesterday, who he likes a LOT better, and she gave him a more hopeful outlook. She went over all his tests with him, explaining them much more clearly than the other oncologist did, and told him that he does have a chance of beating this. He's going to follow every suggestion and fight for his life.
He also told me that Joanne (Gil's girlfriend) has discovered that he has no common sense at all.... and is disgusted. Bob doesn't think she's going to marry Gil after all.

Some nights I go to bed and sleep right through till morning. Others, like tonight, I am up drinking camomile tea and toast. That generally gets me back to sleep.
Julie, how is your husband? you have not said much of late and he had so many visits to hospital and doctors a couple of months back.

Hi my friends,
I am still at home, been fighting a bad lung infection but seem to be on the mend. Pete has just about finished all his doctors appointments and I have just my check up to go. Hopefully will go away soon for a couple of weeks then should be heading off for a while late September.
Love and hugs to you all.

June, I hope your tea worked and you got some sleep!
Broni, I hope you feel better soon!
We just put Boss Baby on to watch. Tahli calls out 'hot sauce'! It was the label on a bottle. Dana reads to her all the time, but nobody is teaching her to read. Kind of shocked. The sad thing is she may never read to us. She won't answer a question, she won't repeat herself if we don't hear her. Maybe as she gets older this is something she'll get over. Maybe we can get her to read to the others.

June, I hope you're feeling better! Did the tea and toast help you get back to sleep?
Heidi, I'm glad Bob/Boob has found an oncologist he is more comfortable with. Hoping all goes well for him.
DOrA, I hope the computer is feeling much better and able to perform all tasks adequately and correctly!
Suzy, thanks for letting us know that you saw a post from MizT on TOS. How exciting that Tahli surprised you and Dana by reading Hot Sauce. If she's uncomfortable reading/talking with either of you, perhaps she's be willing to read to the dog or make up conversations between dolls or stuffed toys?
Broni, thanks for checking in. I hope the lung infection can be completely cleared up quickly! Thinking of you and Pete and hoping you'll both be well enough to get away for a bit and see how that goes before heading out for a major trip.
June, thanks for asking about hubby. He is mostly back to 'normal,' though he still needs to self-catheter once a day. The cataract surgery in his right eye seems to have been successful, but issues remain with his left eye (5 surgeries on that one). It's quite likely that he may need to have a corneal transplant at some point in the future, though we're not sure how long it can be put off. He's had some vertigo issues the past week or so - seems to come and go once or twice a year. He was able to get an appointment today with our chiropractor to learn some techniques to try to adjust the crystals in his ears that should help in the future. We seem to have no trouble keeping busy, including with my cello lessons, chamber music, and string orchestra.
Sending good wishes to all I haven't mentioned. Hoping to see a post soon from MizT letting us know she and her D are OK and an update from Midge and her family's whereabouts.

Dana was talking about a conversation she and Three had with someone. They were asked which kid was hardest to raise. Dana said Daniel, Three said Isobel. The person laughed 'you have an autistic child and the others are tougher!'
She is easier, but life isn't easy for her. She is often overwhelmed by noise, or lights, and, as I said, questions are difficult.

Greetings to all, including Tahli.
Suzy I think Dana, Three, and the person they were having the conversation with were all correct. Each child is the most difficult child to raise in his or her own way and at varying times. We had a call from our younger D a few days ago. She was apologizing for ever having a tantrum when she was growing up. (You can probably guess what she was dealing with that day.)
Heidi, I hope you are feeling better now that you have figured out what was causing your exhaustion. Are you back on an antibiotic? I hope all's well!
I found it surprising that it took Joanne (? - IH's current interest) so long to realize that he has no common sense. It will be interesting to see what develops.

I drove Alie to work today. She was at bundanon homestead today. That meant 9 km of pot holes. In my little car. Most people who work down there buy a 4wd. I'll need a wheel alignment, but won't rush because I'll just put it out again the next time I drive there. Riversdale is easier, very windy, a couple of 180 turns included, but not many pot holes. Most of the time when she works at the homestead someone arranges to meet us half way. She got a ride to town today and I was already there to help Dana so didn't even have to make a special trip.
Daniel had a speech therapy appointment today and I watched the other two while he and Dana were in there. He only gets one appointment since he doesn't have any other diagnosis. Dana was given exercises for him. Isobel gets an appointment tomorrow. She gets 2 because she is language delayed. She is a lot better already because dana and three refused to do anything for her unless she used words. She is so good at letting you know what she wants with signs (not sign language, just signs), that most of the time I don't even realise she hasn't actually spoken.
Tahli only had one freak out at the doctor's and that was because the water fountain had a very loud motor. People speaking loudly didn't bother her at all. There was a very loud reunion between friends who hadn't seen each other, other than on tos, for years. Isobel , on the other hand, cried for 20 minutes because I took my phone off her to answer a message from Alie.

The computer is, I think, back in order. Hope! Hope!
Heidi, if I took the computer to a shop for cleaning and to have new components i.e. upgrades installed, between the 'retail price' of the components and labor fees, I could buy another cheap computer. 'sides, where's the fun? I've pretty well gotten over the aggravation and frustration that comes with a 'fresh reload of all software. It is, perhaps, a good thing to lose all my personal email addresses, occasionally. That way I'll know who really wants to stay in touch. Of course the business addresses are another matter.....

Hi all. I know it has been a few weeks but I don't get on my computer often. I use my tablet and that is a pain to type on. Always autocorrecting to something I don't want.
Heidi: Congrats on finally being rid of Gil. Keeping Bob in my thoughts.
Suzy: got a really strange text from my assistant principal. Her 2 year old daughter got her phone and sent me a message. Had a good laugh with her about it.
Don't remember much else of what I read. Good wishes to all I may have missed.

Hubby and boys went away for the weekend for Dylan's last baseball tournament. I stayed home to keep an eye on Harley and not have to kennel him. I enjoyed a weekend of peace and quiet. MIL was surprised I did not go with my boys.

Hi, Everyone!
Suzy, your description of the drive to Alie's work suggests that it is likely more work for you her job is for her. What a relief that she doesn't need to go to that location daily! I'm so glad Dana is such a good advocate for her children! Here's hoping the exercises she was given for Daniel are helpful, and hope the appointment for Isobel goes well tomorrow! It's great that she has already learned ways to let others know what she needs/wants! And hurray for Tahli and not letting the loud voices set her off. What a challenge for her!
Hi, DOrA! What a great quotation! I think it holds true for many of our weather forecasters. I'm so glad your computer is evidently much happier and performing its duties properly!
Welcome back, Tami! it's nice to 'see' you here! You're missed when you're unable to drop by. I hope Dylan's last baseball tournament goes well. How nice that you could stay home with Harley and enjoy the quiet weekend!
I need to check regular snail mail and my email, but hope to get back tomorrow! Sending positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and
for all those who post and those who don't have as many opportunities to post.

I did a good deed today. Nothing big. I had been out running errands, and had just finished. As I was leaving the mall parking lot, I spotted a skin-and-bones homeless person holding a sign, asking for anything that could be spared for him. I waved and called him over and handed him a $20 bill. His eyes lit up, he said ''OMG... I can get something to eat! Bless you, bless you!'' and ran as fast as he could to the closest place that sold food. He must have been so hungry. I now wish I had given him more. I can't imagine being that desperate.

I'm tired. Dana is really sick so yesterday I didn't ask if she needed help today, I just told her when I'd be there. T took Tahli to preschool at 8.30, then had a cup of coffee and picked up some dog food. Then hung around reading for a while. Isobel's appt was 11.30-12.30, then I took them to the store. Then I went to the RTA (think DMV) to sort out registration of my trailer and transfer ownership on my car. Then I headed back to town to pick up Tahli from school, then to the store to buy the refrigerated dog food. Now I'm home. Tomorrow morning I will take Tahli to big school, then I hang out at maccas drinking coffee since big school is across the bridge. Then at noon I'll take her home. This is kindergarten prep, aimed at assessing kids with a disability to see if they can be mainstreamed. Tahli will spend kindergarten in special ed. I think Thursday I will need to take her to another special class she starts then, depending on Dana's health of course.
My brother sold my car! That's a few more bills paid. Funny thing is when they saw hubby's name on the rego papers they knew who he was because he drew up the plans for the new baseball field. They also have the same last name as Alie's bf, but I doubt they are related because his family lives in Queensland.

Met a single father of 5 today. He was seeing a counsellor after his third daughter saw her. His second daughter has cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism and epilepsy. Ouch. Hard hard work. Single fathers don't get as much help as single mothers. The daughter was talking to us while she waited for her dad to finish. She was very sweet.

Heidi, you hear so many horror stories about scam, fake homeless people that it's hard to trust. We used to give food to a deaf guy, he always started eating immediately. We gave him shoes too, which he wore. If you see that guy again you'll know he is someone you can trust really needs to eat.

I don't think he could fake that look on his face. That guy was having a rough time of it. What worried me was that he might have been an alcoholic, but the place I saw him enter to eat in doesn't serve alcohol. Just large portions of good, inexpensive food.
I've never heard of fake homeless people. There are too many real homeless people in need.

Heidi, there is a video going around on tos about a woman asking for money. She is recorded returning to her late model, high end car. Tells the people recording to get lost in words that at one point would have had me banned in here. She ended up getting arrested a few days later for something else, not the false claims to get money. That was gleefully posted too.

It has been a busy couple of days. Yesterday was blood tests, Oncologist appointment, the a Probus Christmas in July lunch. I came home to have a sleep then made three date and walnut bars (one for home). All from the one mix. Then three jars of Lemon Butter all for the Stall at todays trading table at the bowling club. Today was Chemo and then to the AGM and lunch (sandwiches) at the bowling club. All my goodies sold very quickly.

The oncologist asked if I was getting any exercise. I told him I had been digging out weeds over the weekend using a mattock. ( I worked for 10 minutes or so then rested for 1/2 an hour!) I know it would be very beneficial if I did do more walking, but I do get very tired at times.

Heidi, good on you for helping the hungry man. I gave a man in South Africa a half packet of biscuits I had in the car. I am not sure how impressed he was as I am sure he wanted money. We get scammer around the City railway stations just asking for a couple of dollars and then they could get a ticket to get home on the train. They can collect quite a bit over the day and it probably all goes on drugs.
