June, does all the stuff you are still managing to do count as exercise? You are amazing.
It's a bit early to tell, but I suspect I am going to pay for helping Dana. I had a horrible headache this morning and I've been a bit snuffly. Maybe it's just a reaction to all the wind we have today. I can hope! I didn't end up taking Tahli to school today because she woke up coughing and spluttering.

My good deed for today? I paid the Vet bill for someone who had a very sick cat and couldn't afford a Vet appointment.

You know when your kids start preschool and catch everything that's going around because their immune system is new, and you catch almost everything from them. It turns out that is true of grandkids in school too. *cough, splutter*

Hi, Everyone!
Suzy, of course, the kids bring every new germ and illness home to 'share' with family. Your time spent with them on a regular basis certainly qualifies you as family!

I got my methadone prescription. It was a little more complicated than usual. I had dropped off the prescription a while ago for the pharmacy to hold until I could get it filled. Today was the first day it could be filled. I called them this morning to tell them that I was picking it up today, and the pharmacist told me that they were out of stock... and they wouldn't get more in until next Tuesday. Then the pharmacist got on the phone and called around to other pharmacies to see who might have the drug in stock. She found one half an hour away. She then called me back, told me to come in, pick up my prescription, and take it to get filled. I thanked her profusely, and told her how much I appreciated her going the extra mile for me. She then told me that I made her day (My good deed for the day?).💊 So now I think I will go back to bed for a while.

My chest is so tight! I'll live though. My next door neighbour is a sweetie. He's worried about me being home alone if I have another stroke. He's told me to call him if it happens. He wouldn't be able to understand me if I did. Though the slurring would give it away anyway.

Hi, Everyone!
Heidi, what a fantastic pharmacist, certainly worthy of compliments! There is one pharmacy tech at our pharmacy who went the extra mile (and then some) last fall when hubby was about to be sent home from the hospital with a different anti-rejection drug than he had been using. Our insurance company was balking at filling it, and it was close to a thousand dollars without the insurance. I stood at the pharmacy for over an hour as she tried every trick she could think of to get it filled. Finally, she sent me home and asked me to call her first thing in the morning. I had told her there was no way I could bring my hubby home from the hospital without it. I was able to talk to her supervisor and even call the pharmacy office to be sure they knew what a great representative she was for their company!
Suzy, I hope you and Dana's children (& probably Dana) will all feel much better soon!
Heidi, I hope you get an extremely restful sleep!

On the subject of pharmacists....
A little Risky, maybe a little Risqué, but I’ll take a chance…
Two sides to every story!
Upon arriving home, a husband was met at the door by his sobbing wife.
Tearfully she explained, 'It's the pharmacist. He insulted me terribly this morning on the phone. I had to call multiple times before he would even answer the phone.'
Immediately, the husband drove down town to confront the chemist, and demand an apology.
Before he could say more than a word or two, the chemist told him, 'Now, just a minute, listen to my side of it. This morning the alarm failed to go off, so I was late getting up. I went without breakfast and hurried out to the car, just to realize that I'd locked the house with both house and car keys inside and had to break a window to get my keys.'
'Then, driving a little too fast, I got a speeding ticket. Later, when I was about three blocks from the store, I had a flat tire.'
'When I finally got to the store a bunch of people were waiting for me to open up. I got the store opened and started waiting on these people, all the time the darn phone was ringing.'
He continued, 'Then I had to break a roll of coins against the cash register drawer to make change, and they spilled all over the floor. I had to get down on my hands and knees to pick up the coins and the phone was still ringing. When I came up I cracked my head on the open cash drawer, which made me stagger back against a showcase with a bunch of perfume bottles on it. Half of them hit the floor and broke.'
'Meanwhile, the phone is still ringing with no let up, and I finally got back to answer it. It was your wife. She wanted to know how to use a rectal thermometer.'
'And believe me Mr., as God is my witness, all I did was tell her.'

A sweet thing for you. Alie has an alarm set on her phone and, every night, no matter where she is, she either asks or messages asking if I've taken my pills. They all remember I had my second stroke after not taking them. My doc wouldn't return the pharmacys call about a changed code for one of my meds.

Flu shots! Next year I'm getting one somehow! I usually get one through hubby's work, which he set up. For obvious reasons that didn't happen this year. I could have gone to my doc, but that would have required a phone call and I can't make those. I can call family, but that's all. I get stressed if calls last longer than a minute or two even to family. But right now I'd do anything to avoid feeling like this! I still managed a good deed though. Dana needed some stuff from the shops for Tahlis school lunches next week. All of them are sick too, Isobel the worst. I picked them up and the kids played in the car while dana shopped. I stood outside the car making sure they didn't break it.
I asked Belinda, June, and her school did go to the place Alie works, but a different art teacher took them.

Hi, Everyone!
Suzy, how sweet of Alie to have her phone alarm set as I reminder to be sure that you have taken your pills. How unfortunate that your doctor didn't return the pharmacist's call that night!
June, it must have been amazing to see the show at the school where Belinda is an art teacher! It sounds like there are some amazingly talented students there! I hope you were able to get back to sleep!
Suzy, would it be possible just to write a brief note to whoever organized the flu shots where your hubby worked to see if you might be included? Likewise, would your own doctor's office respond if you wrote them a brief note and asked them to call you when the flu shots become available? You could prepare a possible response you could use if either calls you to let you know when you could come in. That could help you keep any phone conversation brief and on target. Another possibility might be to ask Alie or Dana to make the call to your doctor for you. Just some ideas . . .
I need to head to bed. (Yes, I know I need to be getting more sleep, and I'm trying to do something about it.)
Sending healing energy, positive thoughts,

Not much going on here. I've still managed to do a small good deed every day... including food donations and helping out getting information for a friend who needed it.
Right now I just put on a large corned beef to cook. This is my all-time favorite food. This will be enough for at least 3 days of eating at every meal.

Hi all. Had a busy weekend.
Heidi: it is nice that you are trying to do a good deed everyday. I try to do good deeds when I can. I somehow do things without realizing I am doing them.
Suzy: nice of you to help Dana with the kids. I always get my flu shot. Working with kids, it is almost mandatory. They come to school no matter what.

Wonderful news on the home front Suzy.
Heidi, wonderful ambition on good deeds. Remember to do good deeds to yourself. That is important if you want to help others.
Treatment today but no side effects. I am down to a half dose as my bloods and platelets were too low. I know all this is just slowing the growths but I am not in any pain and, although I do get tired, I can get out and about. Not interested in reading and time on computer is limited as I get dry eyes. (I keep forgetting to put in drops)

I discovered yesterday that the cows had no fresh water. They were forced to drink from the pond. The water tank for the cattle and for my horse barn were still on well water, and something has gone wrong with the system. The water tank for the horses is on city water, so I opened gates to let the cows in with the horses. The plumber will be here first thing in the morning. He thinks the sides of the well may have partially collapsed, so mud is clogging the pump. I'm gonna have to just bypass the well altogether and hook everything up to city water. Either that or spend thousands of dollars fixing the system. Hooking everything up to city water should cost me under $100 with labor.

I've got water again. But it cost me more than I expected. Several pipes broke when the plumber tried to work with them, so a lot had to be replaced. Anf the parts he needed were expensive. The final cost was just over $400. It beats not having water for the livestock.

Part I
You Will Never Look At A Cup Of Coffee The Same Way Again.
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.
Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her Daughter, she asked, 'Tell me what you see.'
'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.
Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter
Smiled as she tasted its rich aroma the daughter then asked, 'What does it mean, mother?'
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same
Adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in
Strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
'Which are you?' she asked her daughter. 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Part II
Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
You might want to send this message to those people who mean something to you (I JUST DID); to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.
It's easier to build a child than repair an adult. This is so true.
