If June could talk to us one more time,
I think she might say something like this...

WEEP NOT FOR ME
Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul’s sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.
-Constance Jenkins

Nice TOPP for June, DorA.

June, you are missed and fondly remembered. I still keep expecting a comment from you to pop up.
Thinking of you on what would have been your 77th birthday today.

Thanks for the TOPP DorA, just what June would have wanted.

Today , Sunday, has been better with the patch. Maybe it took a bit of time to clear the remainder of previous med from my system, or something. A bit itchy and red under the see through patch, but tolerable. Was able to stay awake today, only one short nap.

Hugs to each of you with extras, till later.

Watched my babies drive off into the distance today. Even Alie went with them. She and Dana will be back on Wednesday to finish cleaning the flat. Then Dana will go back. I gave them a book with photos and a message of love. I will miss seeing them all the time.

I'm doing it again! Watching my family fly back from Melbourne. Why do I put myself through this? They've not long taken off so it will be 2 hours before they land here. Now to see how long I can stay away from Flight Tracker. Sigh!
Suzy - Here if you get miserable and need a chat. Or if you're game, come up for a visit.
Oh, I went back to it. They're nearing the Vic/NSW border and I'm closing down the computer and tracker. Ciao!
MizT - glad the patch seems to be working. Hope the itchiness sorts itself out.

Midge, she’s on a train line, but not one I can get to directly. I’m not sure how far north I’d have to go before I go west. Apparently there is a 3 hour layover in moss vale. As in, 3 hours wait for the connecting train. Coming from there to here anyway. I’ll look into it more I’d I decide to brave it.

Morning all! Thanks for the birthday wishes. This turning 70 is a lark. I still feel the same!
I had a lovely day, went to a cafe on the beach for coffee and cake with my daughter and her kids which was lovely and then last night we had a massive Italian feast with all the family plus my siblings and their spouses and our closest friends. I don't think I'll need much to eat today!

Among all my gifts was the book 'Fire and Fury'. I've been wanting to get my hands on it since it came out.
I also got a book about the History of Brisbane, some art pieces, a silver ring with a malachite stone, a good quality footstool and a mosaic and glass light frame.
When I turned 60, my daughters kids were 9 and 7 and did a painting for me which I have treasured and which has graced my wall ever since. They did another for my 70th in the same style. It was hilarious and wonderful and I will treasure it like the first one. They now sit one under the other on my wall here in my office.

So it turns out we Aussies were lying when we said kangaroos don’t just jump down the Main Street. A wallaby did! How it got to the harbour bridge without being hit by a car (though maybe that had something to do with it being 5am), and where it came from, are mysteries.

I am home after an overnight stay in the hospital. Lots of things going on by Monday morning, and all of them could be side effects of the new pain medication I was on. So another medication bites the dust. Had a couple of cardiac tests, and I passed both :)

OH, for friends far flung, we have snow again. Not much, but the temps are forecast to be some of the coldest we have seen here in decades, with 'feel like' temps below 0*F, or - 17.7* C. I came home by taxi, since my sister lives about 35 miles north and already had snow on the ground and roads, I would not ask her out on roads that could be bad fore she could get here and back home. Just to save me a $5 taxi fare? It is good to be back home and feeling better without that med.

Happy belated birthday, Cyn. It sounds as if you had a great day.

Suzy, sorry to hear your grandies are moving and to such an inconvenient place for train connections. You will have to spend time on computer, talking and receiving photos, I hope. Suzy, was the wallaby captured and removed to a safer location? I would imagine that was a job.

Hugs to each of you with extras.

There’s video of the police trying to catch it, unsuccessfully, on the bridge, and photos of it being caught with the help of the mounted police (trained animal handlers) on the other side of the bridge. It is now at the zoo getting vet checked, but looks good so far. Poor thing was probably terrified. You don’t mess with them though. Their hind legs can do a bit of damage.

Greetings to Everyone!

Heidi, I hope you didn't get a deep snow, and hope it wasn't followed by extreme cold. Are you continuing to make progress on feeling better? Take your time; I don't think there's a need to rush your recovery and risk a setback.

MizT, I hope you're feeling much better after your hospital stay and trying to sort out medication. Too bad they couldn't do a follow-up sleep study while you were in the hospital. Hoping you only had a dusting of snow and didn't get the predicted extreme cold! Feel better soon!

CynB, your 70th birthday celebration sounds wonderful! How great to celebrate with family and friends! Seems like you did really well in the gift department. Will you be the first of the Sudokuaholics to read 'Fire and Fury?' Enjoy your footstool while reading your books, your ring, the lovely frame and the new art work!

Midge, how are things with you? Hoping you and your family members are healthy!

Suzy, it will be an adjustment to have Dana and her little ones so far away. Do you Skyppe or have a SmartPhone so your can use FaceTime? It can be fun! We did FaceTime with D and her almost 2-year-old this afternoon. One of her favorite songs is 'The Wheels on the Bus.' When she starts doing the motion for the wheels turning, it's our cue to start singing. After each verse she lets us know what verse she wants next. Because we had more snow than they did, she asked us to show her the snow (from both the front AND the back door). She want us to read a book to her, asks to see the cuckoo clock, etc. She knows what she wants to see and do. It can really be quite fun!

I hope you'll be able to see Dana and your grandies on a regular basis, and hope you can find a convenient way to travel safely and economically!

Hopefully the wallaby is none the worse for the wear after its adventure!

Hoping everyone is feeling well or better or improved! Take care, Heidi and MizT!

Sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, , positive thoughts, and prayers for everyone!

The temperature here right now is 2˚F and falling. We only got 2-3 more inches of snow. We're facing just one more day of deep cold, then it's up above freezing again. I'm NOT going out in this cold. I do not want a relapse. As it is, I'm still coughing up chunks of phlegm from my lungs.

Suzy, yes, the med was the one helping with the pain, unfortunately. But when it raises heart rate, blood pressure, and causes severe diarrhea, time to let it go. I saw the video of police trying to catch the wallaby. That animal was moving along quickly. At one time someone was within touching distance of it, but wisely did not attempt to grab it.

Julie, the sleep study is done outpatient, but one of the tests my primary care physician wanted was done, a cardiac stress test. I did good, heart working as it should. So at least something off my list of things to do.

Hospitals are full here, it was just good timing that I was even accepted in the ER of my hospital of choice. After emergency doc decided to admit me, it took hours to get a bed. ER gurneys are not a comfortable place to occupy for 12 hours! At least I was not on the gurney in the hallway!

Heidi, I am always fearful of going to hospital. I do not get to see my primary care doc, but treated by a hospitalist, a doc I have never seen before in my life. He ordered a couple of things that would not work for me, one was a breathing treatment with albuteral. I had severe problems with that drug before, so I refused it. He also ordered a replacement patch for the same pain meds, PLUS a bit smaller dose of my previous pain med for the headache the patch was causing. Refused the patch also, and managed on the lesser dose of previous med. There was still residual of the new med in my blood stream , so it worked out to be enough to keep me comfortable. Both those pain meds could have been an over dose for me! I am glad you are not going out in your cold and snow. boy, you did get a lot. I think the reason we got so little is that the air aloft was so very dry, air just sucked up the moisture and did not spit out much snow. our temp is 9F -12C and will not get above freezing till tomorrow, but no wind chill, no wind.

Now to contact the pain clinic, to get a script for my previous pain medication. Lots of places are closed today, roads in outlying areas are icy. here in Southside Birmingham, roads are clear. just a dusting of snow fell, and wind blew it off the roads, even off the cars, which was the only place there was much accumulation.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

A lot of people in the north find it amusing when southerners panic from a little snow on the roads. They don't realize the difference. In the north, they get deep snow, but there's no ice underneath, so the driving is relatively safe. When those in the south get snow, it usually starts with freezing rain and forms a layer of ice under the small amount of snow. That's FAR more dangerous to drive on than the snow in the north. We're kind of in-between here in Kentucky. Sometimes we get the ice, and sometimes we don't. This time we didn't get much ice, but I'm still not risking going out in it. I do NOT want a relapse. I don't think I'd survive it. As it is, the forecast says it will be warming up a lot starting tomorrow..... even tho' it's snowing again outside right now.

I am feeling guilty, but as my friend Debbie tells me, I didn't know I was going to get as sick as I did. Back on Dec. 10th, when I was just starting to get sick with the pneumonia, but thought I was recovering from the 'flu, I attended a Christmas party at Lions Camp Crescendo. I thought I was no longer contagious. I did not realize that I was in the contagious stage of pneumonia. Well, I must have passed on the bug. One of the other board members, a really sweet 42 year old guy, who had just gotten married for the first time, in October, caught the bug that I had. He died a few days ago. I KNOW that I had no way of knowing, but I really wish I hadn't gone. He might still be alive.

Heidi, you can't be sure he got that bug from you. If it's one that was going around, he could have got it anywhere. Sounds more like you were lucky that you got yourself to the hospital in time for your life to be saved.
Julie, I used to love those phone conversations with our grandies when they were that age, although we didn't Facetime back then!
('Back then' sounds like the 1800's - I'm talking about the turn of the millennium up to maybe 2005, hah!)
Suzy, I didn't see about the wallaby on the Harbour Bridge. I was so exhausted by last night, I slept through the news. I'll look on FB for the video.
MizT - hope your health improves daily from now on!

Greetings!

Heidi, I'm glad you didn't get as much snow as predicted AND the temperatures will soon be rising. That should also be good news for MizT!

MizT, I'm glad you knew to get medical help when you did - and glad you weren't afraid to speak up when the wrong medication was suggested. Hoping you will continue to improve.

Heidi, you certainly can't blame yourself for not knowing you had pneumonia. This time of year there is so much going around that the young man could have been exposed any number of places - even in a store or at church.

It's way past bed time here, so I'll say good night and send the usual healing energy, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, and

Is this in our 'not too distant' future?

Hello! Is this Gordon's Pizza?

No sir - it's Google Pizza.

I must have dialed a wrong number. Sorry.

No sir - Google bought Gordon's Pizza last month.

OK. I would like to order a pizza.

Do you want your usual, sir?

My usual - you know me?

According to our caller ID data sheet, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with three cheeses - sausage - pepperoni - mushrooms and meat balls on a thick crust.

OK - that's what I want .

May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta - arugula - sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat, gluten free, thin crust?

What? I detest vegetables.

Your cholesterol is not good, sir.

How the hell do you know?

Well, we cross-referenced your home phonenumber with your medical records. We have the result of your blood tests for the last 7 years.

Okay, but I do not want your rotten vegetable pizza! I already take medication for my cholesterol.

Excuse me sir, but you have not taken your medication regularly. According to our database, you only purchased a box of 30 cholesterol tablets once, at Drugsale Network, 4 months ago.

I bought more from another drugstore.

That doesn't show on your credit card statement.

I paid in cash.

But you did not withdraw enough cash according to your bank statement.

I have other sources of cash.

That doesn't show on your last tax return unless you bought them using an undeclared income source, which is against the law.

WHAT THE HELLo? ! ! ! !

I'm sorry, sir, we use such information only with the sole intention of helping you.

Enough already! I'm sick to death of Google - Facebook - Twitter - WhatsApp and all the others!! I'm going to an island without internet - cable TV - where there is no cell phone service and no one to watch me or spy on me !!

I understand sir - but you need to renew your passport first. It expired 6 weeks ago!!

Lol DorA, Dana and her ex did an experiment a few weeks ago. They sat and deliberately talked, not googled, not messaged, talked, about something they had no interest in, cruises. Two or three days later both of their Facebook feeds had ads for cruises.

I actually had the opposite experience with our government. I received a letter reminding me that I was eligible for free bowel tests, poo tests I call them because I can never remember the correct name. They obviously have no idea I’ve had 3 colonoscopies. I considered that evidence that big brother wasn’t watching. At least not all of the time.

Good one Suzy - they will know now......
Will Alie be living with you now Dana has moved? It is strange reading about the ice and snow - we are having 42C today. A hose hubby has a share in raced last night and came 2nd - very pleased with the result but I was hoping the races would be cancelled as it was still about 34C, Her stable name is 'Cartier' because she is precious and spirited. Another horse has been nominated to race next Wednesday at Benalla - country races. This one is a really lovely horse, very affectionate and gentle. Went to the caravan at the beach on Wednesday night and back to work the next day at midday. It was a lovely break - warm night and daughter and I sat outside until 1am talking. For breakfast we went to a cafe (All Smiles)on the cliffs overlooking Sorrento surf beach - breathtaking views - will certainly be going there again. D actually said if she ever marries, it will be there.

Midge, Alie has been living with me since hubby died. She was planning to move to Queensland with her ex, before he became her ex. She was telling me it was cool today, it’s 34C. We had several cooler days so I can’t really complain about getting summer weather in summer. Your short break sounds amazing!

Interesting experience at the tip today. I was pretty much ignored when I went alone, by employees anyway, I go with my 24 year old and have help the whole time! He even shoveled out the last few leaves etc! Sigh. I like that I’m no longer cat called or hit on, but being younger did have some advantages, especially since the guy was polite and respectful.

Suzi, I found the same thing happened when I was with any of my daughters. Help just materialized, no matter the chore, getting the canoe off the car top rack, changing a tire, whatever.

According to forecast, after tomorrow morning about 10 am, our temps will not fall below freezing, 32*F or 0* C. It might even be warm enough to water the outside plants. I watered and fed the inside ferns today.

I have found a friend to be my driver for the endoscopy test my doc wants done. NOW to get the appointment scheduled. My goal for tomorrow, and a trip on our bus to wal mart for a few groceries. Not yet ready to be out driving on my own and no one had signed up for the wheel chair space.

DorA, I have no doubt that your joke could become reality in the foreseeable future. anything I look at online shopping, I get all kinds of ads for. Sometimes they are actually helpful, finding an item at a better rice. but I more often get ads for items I have already purchased, and not consumables that I might need to reorder. but I know how to scroll on by.

Enjoyed our Scrabble game today. Mary beat me by 2 points game 2. I say that is darn close

To bed now, sending hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

Today so far has been a dud. I went to Bunnings to buy a sausage sanga to support the RFS, no parking anywhere! I’ve never seen it so crowded! They must have stuff on for kids too, vague memory of something being advertised... I handed a firie some gold coins for the donation box and drove on to my second attempt to support an organisation. A book sale for the town band. Thousands of books! I looked at the books I had chosen and realised there was a 90% chance I already owned all of them. I caught up with a friend instead.

Hi, Everyone!

DOrA, people are saying that kind of scenario isn't that far off! Very scary, indeed. I try to remember to avoid clicking through to a shopping source from an email, as those things inevitably show up on my facebook feed.

Suzy, we have encountered something similar to Dana and her ex. I have NO idea how that happens. I had heard that conversations in the vicinity of an Alexa or similar voice activated can be 'heard' by someone who had made a bluetooth connection. We do NOT have anything like that.

Midge, good news about the horse your hubby has a share in!. Do they ever cancel races due to temperature or inclement weather? There is a race course somewhat near where we live, but I haven't ever gone for a 'day at the races,' and I don't think they're televised. Your day or two at the caravan sounds rejuvenating!

MizT, good news that your outside temperatures are moderating! We don't anticipate any long-term moderation until probably mid- or late-March, and even then, the weather can be miserable. I'm glad you found a driver for your endoscopy! Good job at Scrabble today! I think that's a couple of weeks in a row!

Heidi, hooray that temperatures there are also rising, even if just a little bit. It's nice to see snow and ice melting, though hopefully not too quickly and making slippery mud!

Sending cheerful and positive thoughts to everyone, even those who haven't posted for a few days! , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, and prayers coming your way!

Julie, we are a country that loves its gambling. I don’t mean people like midge who own and race horses. I mean jo blow on the corner who buys the paper every week just for the form guide. My neighbour for example. They even put one on top of his coffin. Races here are televised, played on the radio, and probably on the net. To place a bet you would go to something called the TAB. I don’t know what it stands for. Now you can bet from your phone. For a long time it was illegal to bet on sport, but I think that happens now too. There is a racetrack about 2 km from me. I’ve been a couple of times, one Melbourne cup day, when Alie was performing, that kind of thing.

Then there’s the poker/slot machines. In every pub and club. Some places are getting rid of them now, but they are a huge source of income for the clubs so I don’t see them going away any time soon.

Then there is Lotto and powerball. There is something like that on pretty much every day, though I’m not sure about Sundays. I’ve been in line at a newsagent and seen people spend over $100 on their tickets for the week. I am in Lotto. I buy a 5 week ticket that costs me less than $3 a week, just so I can say, when I win Lotto.

No snow left, but it's due to start raining soon. Which is a nightmare because we're dealing with suddenly deep mud. I'm afraid to fire up the tractor because the tires will sink about a foot into the ground and tear up any pasture I drive across.
