For Cyn
I had a call from the specialist donor team today... they said that all 6 recipients of Matthew's organs have recovered the operation and passed their milestones earlier than expected.

His heart is beating on it's own in a young male..
His lungs are breathing on their own in a male recipient (despite having 3 medical inicisions)...
His liver recipient is awake and alert, in a young male...
2 separate ladies that received a kidney each are producing their own urine already...
The lady that received the pancreas is living without having to carry a pump around for the first time in approx 30 years, she was born with type 1 diabetes!

And there's more to come!!

They will sent me a letter telling me everything they can tell me

He was legendary and exemplary in life and death!!

Thanks Suzy, for posting this for me while I was out!
This was written by my SIL’s sister about her son. It will help the family feel better as the years go on, knowing others are living on thanks to him.

That is so awesome that the young man and his family were able to save so many lives.
A while ago I watched a video on YouTube where a mother met the recipient of her son's heart, and was able to listen to it with a stethoscope. It was incredibly emotional and beautiful. It would be wonderful if this young man's mother could do the same.

Heidi, that is what his mother would love to do, hear his heart beating, but I think she has to hope that the recipient wants to contact her. But then, the recipients may be so grateful that they will want to do just that. It’s really a miracle what medical science can do to bring about joy after such sadness.

Greetings friends! I put together a fan today, and it works . The hardest part was snapping the front grill to the back, the last step. I would put one tab in, and another would pop out. Not wure what I did that worked at last, but it just seemed to suddenly want to be all together.

Reviews of this fan (I ordered it on Amazon) said it really would move some air, and that it was a bit loud. It does, and it is, but on medium, it pushes air from the AC unit across the entire apartment to the door. On low it is not objectionably loud. Will be very handy come July. AC puts out cold air, but does not move it far enough into the room. The fan I had last summer died , I found this one with good reviews and a good price and think I shall be happy with it.

Heidi, I am sorry to hear how bad Willow has gotten and how quickly. I know it is hard, but you always see that your pets do not suffer. Hugs to you, friend.

We have had a bit of a cool snap. I am glad I had not put any of the ferns back outside. Some of the surrounding area had a few hours this early pre dawn that were just at or below freezing. I do not think we got that low here, to much concrete and asphalt that holds the heat. But do not try to explain a micro-clime to our 85 year old residents here

I have sent a message off to the pain clinic, asking for an early follow up to check this knee. Still a big bother, but so much better than before the injection. Maybe they can see me first of next week.

That is all for now, time to unbend the knee, so back to recliner and my book. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

A sudoku person’s home town is flooded. I’ve sent her a text. I know from past cyclones (this time it’s just heavy rain as far as I know) that the bottom floor of her home is made a those big bricks (of course I’ve forgotten the name of them since I want to use it!) so they can just hose it out after the water goes down.

I hope everyone is well!

Suzy, it's wonderful to hear how well things are going for Dana and your grandies! Good for Alie cleaning her room and filling your bin. At least your neighbors weren't able to dump any of their stuff this week.

Great almost-TOPP, DOrA. There's much truth in that!

Heidi, I'm so glad to hear that Daisy is doing well, but sorry that Willow's arthritis got so bad so suddenly. I know you will do what is best for Willow, no matter how much it may break your heart! Sending {{{HUGS}}}

Suzy, the post about all of the people benefitting from transplanted organs was a wonderful TOPP!.

CynB, it must be a wonderful feeling for all of your extended family, knowing that so much good could come from their misfortune and sadness. I hope it will be possible at some point for the young man's mother to meet the recipient of his heart and hear it beating healthily for someone else.

MizT, good for you for putting the fan together! I hope it provides much movement of cool air in the warmer/hotter months!

Suzy, thanks for letting us know about the impending flooding in the Sudoku person's home town. I hope it won't affect her directly. It sounds like some thought was put into the possibility of flooding when the home was built. Sending positive thoughts her/his way.

I hope this day has been good for everyone. Sending healing energy, positive thoughts, , prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all!

Julie, I couldn’t think of a topp so asked Cyn if she’d put that up, but she was out, so I did it for her. I thought it was lovely to think of it. I didn’t get to do it with hubby.

Cyn, that sounds right. I’ll message her again tomorrow to see how she went over night. Apparently there was a new law made and everyone had to get insurance, which is ridiculously expensive since they flood all the time!

Suzy, sharing the information about the recipients was a very beautiful and heart-warming TOPP! I wish for the best for all families! Cyn, thanks for allowing Suzy to share the information!

Hwisi, I hope you're feeling better. Thinking of Daisy, Willow, and all of your 4-legged family members!

Cyn, I hope the young man's family is finding a way to cope with their loss.

Willow was put to sleep today. I had a hard time saying goodbye and delayed it as long as possible. But last night she spent the whole time staggering in a circle, hunched over, teeth chattering and whimpering. I could no longer postpone it. She was suffering.
One of the earliest pictures on my page has a picture of Willow at 2 years old.

Woke up to a world covered in several inches of snow. Considering that the weather has been Spring-like for several weeks, this came as a surprise to me.

Heidi, I hope the snow doesn't make things more difficult for you. Do the dogs enjoy snow?

The snow is gone from our ground, but temperatures tend to fluctuate between 20 and 40 lately. Massachusetts had about 30 or more cm of snow last week. D's neighborhood was without power for about 36 hours. Things returned to normal, but another 12 inches (30 cm) of snow is predicted starting tonight.

Thinking of all of our Sudoku friends and the weather they're dealing with, from heat and humidity to flooding to snow to sunny spring-like days. Sending lots of , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, positive thoughts and prayers for all.

So sorry Heidi - you have far too much to cope with. Lucky Willow to have had you as mum.
CynB - Just hope the family know that the recipients are all so grateful for the second chance but may never contact them. Very mixed emotions - happy for their opportunity yet they will be feeling so sad for the donor's family and loved ones. A very difficult letter to write. I took 9 months before I could write to my donor's family and I thank them every day. Would love to hear from them but respect their decision to just get on with life.

Matthew's body has been released and the funeral is on Friday. Still such a sad time for his family.
Midge, I'm sure that sometime in the future your donor's family will be grateful to have heard from you. I know that Matthew's family are comforted to know that his organs have given life to so many others.

Back to the specialist with Colin today. This is such a slow process. Watching day by day, there seems to be little or no progress in his ability to cope with only one eye. He has his good days and his bad days. I'll come back later with an update but I don't expect much to change. His Doctor's certificate runs out tomorrow, so we have to get that updated.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts!

Cyn, I hope Matthew's family can find some peace and possibly ways to celebrate that his organs live on and provide improved life for so many.

CynB, I hope Col gets some concrete ideas/suggestions tomorrow that will help.

Had an ophthalmologist appointment today - everyone running late. At least we had confirmation that things are stable. Tonight was a meeting that ran late, after a lot of time preparing everything we needed for it. So, didn't have much practice time this afternoon. Have been practicing since we got home, but now need to head to bed for an early alarm tomorrow.

Sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, , and prayers for everyone.

Copied from a message to me ds.

Did you know you can startle a spider? I opened the recycle bin to empty the inside bin into it and the huge @rse spider in the carport jumped! Like people do!

It’s bin night and my bin is full again. Neighbours are out of luck.

Back to sleeping excessively. Part of it is depression about my fur babies, and part of it is that it's been 5 months since my last epidural, and I'm in a lot of pain. The next one is scheduled for the morning of March 26th, just 11 1/2days from now. It's going to be a rough wait.

Greetings friends. I have been hobbling around still, knee just did not improve like all other parts of the sciatic pain. In 16 hours I go back for an injection to knee. Without seeing me, doc said it is a joint problem. Don't think so, but hope whatever the problem, the shot of cortisone will clear it up. It would be nice to walk without pain once again.

I got the Christmas red polish off my toes today, and something more spring like, after a good trim of all 10 toes. With back and knee and hip problems, I just cannot get to toe nails to trim them. I am so glad that Leah comes once a month to do manicures and pedicures. Biggest business is pedicures, guess I am not the only one who finds it difficult to trim toenails. A Podiatrist also comes once every 89 days, as often as medicare will pay for a visit. My insurance has stopped paying him his up-charge for a 'home visit'. I agree with insurance co, He was making a bundle each time he came out, and there was not a one of the patients he saw that could not have taken our bus to a podiatrist's office. Besides, for what my co pay would be just to get nails cut by podiatrist, I get a foot massage, lotion and pretty nails painted in color of my choice . Today it is Chicago Champagne Toast. And Leah does not cut my toes like he did.

Knee/leg is complaining of sitting in computer chair, so back to recliner. bummer. Heidi, hope the days go by quickly till your scheduled epidural. Suzy, big hugs to you dear. That first anniversary is the worst.

The Doctor was pleased with the way Col's eye is healing. It's just a matter of Col learning how to do things with one eye. Docs seem to think she should accomplish that in a month or two. If there is to be an operation on his bad eye, that will be later. So it's just onward and upward for us. Feeling more positive these days.

R.I.P. Stephen Hawking.

Here's what I found about coincidences of Stephen Hawking's birth and death dates: Stephen Hawking was born on the 300th death anniversary of Galileo Galilei, and died on the 139th birth anniversary of Albert Einstein.

Here is a quote from Stephen Hawking: We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. That makes us something very special.
