Julie, it seems there was at least one long track large tornado tonight. The City of Jacksonville, home of Jacksonville State University has put out a call for help from surrounding cities first responders. So many trees and power lines down they cannot get into areas to check for damage, injuries. The news coverage teams cannot even get in. Unconfirmed reports of injuries, people trapped in apartment buildings. Radar showed debris fields at 15,000 feet, which means a LOT of stuff was broken up, sucked up and tossed high as this tornado went across. Actually, there were 3 tornadoes, one right after the other, like a train on a track.
Here at my location? One fast moving t storm early afternoon, rained hard for maybe 5 minuets. 50 miles north, hail so large, golf ball to baseball sized, it was breaking windshields and deploying air bags to about 390 vehicles in a car lot.
Weather service has not lifted warning for my county, but surrounding counties are being lifted as conditions improve. It has been an expensive night, with a lot of damage. The city I mentioned, Cullman, has closed schools tomorrow because of hail damage. I am waiting till we are removed from the warning to take sleeping meds, not going to sleep in my bed just beside a 6 foot wide window and do not think sleeping in the bathtub would be comfy

Heidi, so sorry about Rede. I know he was special.
MizT, I’m glad you are on a watch and not a warning. Thank you DorA for letting us know the difference. Could you go to bed under a thick comforter?
My state has extremes right now. In the south we have bad fires, one destroyed, and my memory of the exact numbers will be off, 68 homes and 39 buildings completely and damaged a bunch more. Today several cities or towns in the north have been passing out sandbags in anticipation of bad storms. We have a 90% chance of 5mm. I can feed the chooks without an umbrella in that.
I’ve been having a bad day and suddenly realised I didn’t take my pills last night, and maybe not the night before either. Nobody to blame but myself.

I just uploaded a photo of Gizmo asleep in Alie’s bed. I did it on my phone, but when I looked at in on my tablet it looked weird. Sigh. Well it looked cute IRL.

Warning vent: Alie has a friend from school. He’s in the navy now. About the same time Alie and Bren broke up, her friend’s fiancé dumped him because she had the hots for another guy. Sounds like he was lucky to get out of that one. It should have ended there, but his mother invited her to live with them! There’s a caregiver pension or something, I’m not sure of the details, but it’s money. Alie’s friend will be relocating soon, but has about 3 months of having to share a house with the woman who dumped him. I’d have him move in here in an instant, but he’s too shy and Alie says he wouldn’t. He’s here a fair bit, avoiding going home I think. I’m kind of in shock that a mother could care so little about her son. I may have called her some names. Not to her face, I’ve never met her.

I got a good look at Miss Kitty, my 30 year old Paint mare. The cancer has spread. She's in pain. I'm going to have to have her put to sleep VERY soon, as soon as I can get the Vet out here.

Wow! MizT, it looks like your location was spared a bit while other areas bore the brunt of the storms! I think you made a good decision to delay taking your sleeping meds AND to avoid sleeping in the bathtub. No amount of padding would make that comfortable.
DOrA, thanks for posting the link to clarify the difference between a tornado WATCH and a tornado WARNING!
Suzy, I'm glad the weather extremes seem to be away from you, as well! Stay safe, regardless of what comes your way. And, it's completely understandable that you might have forgotten to take your pills. You've had a few things on your plate in the past week or so!
Suzy, Gizmo looks so cute all tucked into bed. I hope he has been calmer today!
Wow, Alie's friend's mother seems a bit oblivious - or something far worse - to invite the former fiancee to live at their home!
Keeping everyone in my thoughts and sending lots of warm, gentle cyber {{{{{HUGS}}}}},

Snow in spring? Yikes! We’re finally getting some rain after 3 months of below average rainfall. I’m really enjoying it so far, but it’s early days.
Julie, Alie has a queen sized bed and is actually in the bed hiding under the covers in the photo. It’s actually our old bed.

Julie, also the fact if I got down into the bathtub, would need first responders to get me OUT hehehe. I do not take baths. I have a shower chair and a hand held shower wand for my bathing.
OH< HEIDI, I am so sorry to hear Miss Kitty also needs to be put down. I know it seems too many in too short of a time, but you have gone a long time previously without so much cancer. Animals, like humans, seem to get cancer as they get older. It is just part of the life cycle. The only way to prevent having to put down older animals is to not have animals. So instead of thinking of all the losses in such a short time, try thinking about all the joy these animals have brought to you over the years. Hugs Hugs, friend.
Suzy, how is Gizmo doing? Has he calmed down any? I was thinking yesterday, about the sling like wraps that mothers use to 'wear' their newborn infants. Could you rig up something like that, to have Gizmo close to you, but yet be hands free when you need to make a cuppa, or prepare a meal, or even go to the bathroom? Just a thought.
I have removed the room sized rug from my living area. It would not stay in place, kept sliding, and almost tripped me up many times. Once the rug was up, I found on the new flooring a thin layer of fine sand/dirt. It seems it had worked it's way through the rug, and was as slick as. I still have not got all the stuff off the floor, and still must be careful getting into and out of my recliner. My cleaning lady comes today, I hope after her sweeping and mopping, it is all removed. No, I could not sweep, but got the dust mop to it, did remove some, hope the rest goes today. I shall miss the rug, but cannot risk a fall.
Heidi, how much snow did you get? My daughter in Connecticut is expecting over 12 inches. For them, this is the fourth Nor'easterner in 3 weeks. this is all part of the same system that came through here as tornadoes, you are just now on the cold side of the system. We are having colder nights again, cooler days. Low hovering just above 0* C at night, but quickly warming once the sun is up.
Building one has had only one of two elevators working since last week. Needs a part, we are told. Just now an announcement that the working elevator will be shut down for maintenance. Hope that means they have the new part and are installing it.

Hi, Everyone!
More snow, Heidi? I'm glad you didn't get as much as those in the northeast! I hope the ground wasn't muddy, or things could get quite a bit messier. Spring-type weather should arrive fairly soon, I hope! We're still having temperatures no higher than about 40* F during the day and down into the low 20s or even high teens at night. At least we have avoided the snow, but New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and other northeastern states are on their 4th major snowfall in about 3 weeks. Yikes!
Suzy, I had no idea Alie was in the same bed as Gizmo. Will he stay there at night?
MizT, I laughed about the possible need for first responders if you slept in the bathtub - because that's what it would take to get me out of one. I haven't been in seated or reclined in a bathtub (just the occasional exception to stand in one for a shower in a hotel room) for years.
MizT, it's a very sensible and good idea to remove the room-sized rug, especially since it has become a tripping hazard. The sand and dirt that had filtered through probably made it even more slippery.
MizT, I hope all of the elevators in the other building will soon be working again, and hope their won't be problems with the elevators in your building!
Sending positive thoughts, healing energy, [[[[[HUGS}}}}},
, and prayers for each of you!

Julie, Gizmo sleeps with one of us every night. Before his injury he would move from one bed to the other as the urge took him. These days he usually goes to bed with Alie because she is in bed first and she brings him to my room if he drives her nuts. I’m a restless sleeper, which I think drives him nuts.
MizT, I’ve seen photos of some first responders I’d be happy to have help me out of the tub. In fact I have a calendar full of them. Only to support children’s hospital, of course. 😁
What a bummer about your rug, though coming into summer it won’t be too bad, I’m sure you’ll miss it next winter! Apart from the near misses, I mean.
Switching meds. Increasing the nightmares one, halving the anxiety one, and adding half of a different anxiety one. All a bit scary but since I’m barely functioning on the old schedule, I’ll try anything.

No, you will never be free. I know that from being subjected to abuse as a child, myself. The damage is permanently burned into your soul. But that doesn't mean that you have to make it easy for him to keep winning. You're better than him. You have a sensitive, loving heart.

Gizmo got a good review at his check up, but is sad now because Alie has banished him because he threw up on her bed. She is now washing her sheets and mattress protector before she can go to bed. Luckily it’s still fairly early though. He got her pillow too. She’s going to buy a new one. All of the spares were used by shadow when she had trouble getting on and off her bed.
The friend I mentioned earlier came over a couple of weeks ago with alcohol. There was some left. He told Alie she could keep it, but she rarely drinks. I am getting to try apple vodka with real gold flecks! The apple flavour is strong, but I’m not sure what the point of the gold flecks is. Other than looking cute in the bottle, that is. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t bother paying what he probably paid for the bottle. I tried googling the price but it came up as sold out.

Suzy, hooray for Gizmo getting a good check up! So sorry he threw up in Alie's bed! Washing everything is not what most people choose to do before going to bed. Hey, at least she'll be getting a new pillow. I hope Gizmo's OK.
Apple vodka with gold flecks sounds good. Well, at least apple vodka sounds like it could be refreshing. I'm not sure what nutritional value is added by the real gold flecks.
Heidi, I'm sorry for the turn Daisy has taken. If she makes it through Monday, I hope you'll have some time to cuddle her and let her know she's been a wonderful companion. I hope your epidural is a doozy!

GYNECOLOGIST BECOMES A MECHANIC
A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork, and was burned out. Hoping to try another career where his skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time of the practical exam approached the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with tremendous skill.
When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the instructor, saying, “I don’t want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade?”
The instructor said, “During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark.” “You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark.” After a pause, the instructor added, “I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the muffler, which I’ve never seen done in my entire career.”

Alice worked an event at riversdale tonight. So, of course, the bureau issued a severe storm warning. Stay away from trees, put your car under cover. One day I’ll be able to borrow a dash cam or go pro so I can show you the drive down. Bundanon is even prettier. But it’s all trees, some dirt roads. We got lucky though, the storm went around us. It got a bit windy, but not dangerously so, and no rain.

I had a missing grandie for part of today. It was scary. She (Hayley) has a new boyfriend and left yesterday to spend the weekend with him and his family down at the Gold Coast. Neither of her parents got a contact number or address for the boy which they should have. Today, after realising that no one had heard from her, they started calling her and got no answer. This went on all day. After a worrying several hours, my son was getting ready to drive down there to look for her and her mother was on the phone to the police, she got a call from an unknown number. It was Hayley. They had gone out fishing in the family’s boat, she had left her phone at the house, the boat broke down and they sat out in the water for hours waiting for a tow back to shore. Talk about an unlucky chain of events.
At least she’s safe. That was a scary experience.

Yep, it was scary about Hayley. I couldn't settle last night, so I phoned her this morning to convince myself she's okay. In less than 2 months she will be an adult. Why can't they stay little children who don't go off on adventures alone.
I think she and the boyfriend will have a tough time seeing on another in the next few weeks. The Commonwealth Games start at the Gold Coast in 10 days or so but the athletes are already arriving at their village, as well as visitors from all over the world. They will have to run the gauntlet of public transport which will go past the Games venue. And we locals know NOT to even bother to try the drive there. It will be chaotic.
