What would you want for them if the situation was reversed?
I heard that on the radio this morning. It was a mother talking about losing her child to cyber bullying and how she manages to keep going. I lost it.

Suzy, that interview on the radio would have been a hard one to listen to!
OUCH, poor Gizmo! (And your wallet.) Will Gizmo be able to get around on his own, or will you need to take him out for his potty breaks? I hope he heals quickly!
MizT, I hope your knee is feeling somewhat better!
Heidi, thinking of you and hoping Daisy is continuing to improve and your extra sleep is helping you deal with your pain.
Sending gentle cyber {{{HUGS}}} to MizT and Heidi!

Oh no, Suzy. Poor Gizmo, and poor you. I understand what you're feeling. We need our fur babies.
Daisy is not eating much now. I can't get her to eat more than once a day. She was eating three times daily. I hope this doesn't mean that the cancer is taking it's toll, and her time is short.

We're just back from Matthew's funeral. It went well. His mother did the Eulogy. His estranged (not by his choice) father came along looking very distressed. His grandmother, a lovely woman and devout Catholic, did the Reading.
Now I am not a practising Christian nor am I atheist, but the reading was so apt for the situation, I was in tears.
It is too long to type up, so those of you who have a bible, it came from The Book of Wisdom 4:7-15. It was about how evil corrupts a young simple heart and how it is better that he was taken from the wickedness surrounding him.
My heart went out to this woman, the other grandmother of 2 of my grandchildren and was selfishly thankful that it wasn't one of them. And thankful that she got solace out of the passage.

Heidi, I’m sorry Daisy is eating less again. Losing so much of your family so close together would be enough to bring on depression. I hope you are looking after you too.
Alie is in the shower shaving her legs in case she wants to show some skin at the ed sheeran concert tomorrow night. I didn’t laugh, well I did internally. Alie wears long pants on 40 degree days! That’s 104 for the topsiders.

Get this! My neighbour’s wife is insisting on coming with us to pick up Gizmo tomorrow so she can pay the bill. I don’t think they should because it was Gizmo’s fault, but at the same time I have no income and haven’t for a year. I told them earlier that it wasn’t necessary because it wasn’t Bill’s fault, but they called tonight anyway.

Update on knee: it is better. I slept 12 hours last night, only up once for meds. I think I could go back to sleep for a nap, I know I could have slept longer this morning, but set alarm to go to grocery. Constant severe pain can wear you down. I am still a bit uncomfortable sitting with knee bent for long, and if I walk to far, but such an improvement, and NO PAIN in bed or recliner. I'll take that.
Heidi, I had not heard that Stephen Hawkins had died. He was such a brilliant mind, in such a flawed body. I join you in wishing RIP Stephen.
Cyn, healing takes place at it's own pace. I am happy to hear Colin's healing is making progress, even through slowly. Hang in there, both of you. sending hugs, and wishes for recovery.
Cyn, I have tried to get our activities director to have a pi(e) day party, but she, like so many of our residences do not understand the March 14 Pi connection. I guess they skipped those math problems
. She did see that March was PIE MONTH on one of her calendars, and we did have a pie day party, first of March. Nice for a thin slice of 2 different pies and a cup of coffee for a mid afternoon snack. I chose pecan and lemon.
Just back for a trip on the bus to local grocery. My medications for this knee back problem leave me a bit too groggy to drive safely. But the prices are such a shocker at the grocery they use. I pid twice as much for a gallon of milk, a tin of evaporated milk and a loaf of bread then I would have at Aldis. I know, cause about 2 weeks ago, we did have a bus trip to Aldis. But milk and bread will only keep so long, not enough room in the tiny freezer section for them. I do miss having my upright freezer I had before moving here.
Suzy, Isobel is a big girl, to out fox her brother so. Made me smile also. Thanks for posting, and so happy that you found something to make you laugh today. Life goes on, and we can choose to be happy or sad. sometimes we are both the same day.
posting now fore I loose this turning the page.

Suzy, so nice of your neighbor to offer to come with you to pay the bill. Let them do it if they want, it might make them feel better about the accident. Hoping Gizmo is doing better and can be stitched back together when you see the specialist.
I am off to pick up my lunch downstairs. It is fried fish and better eaten while still warm, not warmed over. OH, for those of you not from the south, one of the sides today is cheese grits. You can serve grits for any meal, in so many different ways.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

I, too, agree that you should let the neighbor pay the Vet bill. Sometimes you just have to swllow your pride and let someone be generous. And it will help the neighbor feel less guilty, even if you feel it wasn't their fault.
((I was thinking of sending you the money for the Vet bill until you mentioned the neighbor)).

Suzy, I'm so sorry about Gizmo's injuries. I hope the specialist can work miracles! Sending {{{HUGS}}}!
Oh, no, Heidi! I can hardly believe that Daisy is back to eating very little. Apparently there has been a change in the way she is feeling. I was so hoping that the progression might have slowed. {{{HUGS}} for you and Daisy!
Cyn, thanks for sharing the reading from Matthew's funeral. Absolutely beautiful and touching and appropriate!
MizT, how wonderful to hear that your knee is doing better and you slept well! I hope this continues indefinitely! Too bad the bus went to the more expensive grocery today. It must have been a shock to see those prices.
Suzy, your neighbor seems like she wants to do the right thing. If she is in a position to be able to pay the bill or at least a part of it, thank her for her generosity and give her a hug. (I typed this before reading MizT's, Heidi's, and Cyn's comments. I'm glad we're all in agreement. If your neighbors feel better paying the bill, it's best to let them.
Suzy, good luck keeping Gizmo quiet and still. I hope he's a cuddler - or at least enjoys sitting with you while you sit and read or watch TV.
I'm going to post this before going to your page to look at Gizmo's picture.

Unfortunately I don’t have a crate. I am very uncomfortably sitting on my bed with him snuggled up to me. Twice I’ve gone to the loo and, even though he could see me, he jumped off the bed! Ouch! I’d like to make myself a cup of coffee right now, but it will disturb him. Alie has left to go to the ed sheeran concert so can’t help me.

Speaking of Ed Sheeran, my cousin's daughter is a reporter for 10 news in Perth and he sent me a funny outtake of her trying to do a cross to the studio about Ed Sheeran's tour except that he kept interrupting her. This should be it:

Lol! Missy Higgins is on first. Alie is jazzed. The SMH had a weird headline, but I couldn’t read the article without buying a subscription. Something like - busking on a huge scale, fans fall victim to his oppressive charm. Seriously? Alie has been to one of his concerts before and loved the personal feel of them. And what’s with ‘oppressive ‘?

Hi, Everyone!
Cyn, the outtakes from the Ed Sheehan piece were cute. He seems to be a genuinely nice young man.
Suzy, 'oppressive charm' makes absolutely no sense. I'd say the reporter needs to use a thesaurus, if oppressive is the best word he or she could think of to describe charm.
MizT, I hope your knee continues to improve and you can continue to get around more comfortably!
Heidi, thinking of you, and hoping you are feeling better. Keeping Daisy in my thoughts, too.

Well living with an injured Gizmo is certainly an adventure. He’s not supposed to be putting weight on his leg. Keeping him off it is not easy and we are failing. He’s also very clingy so is ‘on’ one of at all times. We are taking it in turns so one of us can get stuff done. Earlier he stood up, I yelled no and tried to grab him, I missed, he jumped off the lounge, ran to Alie and jumped up on her bed. Scared both of us! I hate to think what the vet is going to say...

Got a computer repairman coming today. I have a scam/virus in my laptop that needs to be dealt with and soon. Trying to write posts on this stupid iPad takes ten times longer. It proves my theory that while Apple phones and pads are convenient and portable, nothing beats a desktop or laptop with windows for getting things done. Can’t wait to get this fixed.

Heidi, I’m hoping that the excess sleeping means that your body is trying to heal itself. Colin has done a lot of sleeping since his accident. He has good days but sometimes, like yesterday, he just falls into a heap and sleeps all day. He’s good again today.
Get well soon

Suzy - hope Gizmo is on the improve quickly. Our old boy Dunlop had to be sedated to keep him calm for the first week. We had to usea trolley to move him around (he was a very big dog). Also made a stretcher out of tent poles and hessian bags - has been very useful over the years. Maybe your neighbours could at least pay half of the vet fees - they must feel responsible to even offer.
Heidi - wish I lived closer to you o i could help with your fur babies. You have too much on your shoulders.
Julie - have fun with the taxman - I hate doing taxation - even though I have a pretty good accounts system at work, there are always questions.
CynB - good news for Colin - and hope it get easier for you too.
MizT - glad to hear your knee is giving you as much grief and is on the improve.
Bugs galore around here - all have been ill for the past 2 weeks with a particularly nasty bug - at least the others can take something for it - I just have to wear it. Busy week too - both horses racing at the end of the week and I really want to see them. Wish we could keep them in our backyard! They are too far away to just visit (about 2-1/2 hours drive from our place).

Hi, Fellow Sudokuaholics!
Suzy, it sounds like you and Alie have your hands full trying to keep Gizmo quiet and relaxed! Heidi's suggestion to ask the vet if he might have a crate you could borrow - or might have another client with a spare - might possibly make it a bit easier for you. But, if Gizmo isn't used to a crate, he may not like it and could be vocal about it to let you know. You or Alie may need to stay close by so he doesn't think it's punishment, just a way to encourage him to remain quiet. You may also need to keep a supply of treats nearby to reinforce his staying in - just a tiny bit of treat on a semi-regular basis. If you set a timer, he might become accustomed to hearing it go off and getting the reinforcement of a treat.
Heidi, I think I'm glad you're getting lots of sleep - and hoping it is giving your body and mind a chance to heal. Sending {{{HUGS}}}!
Cyn, I hope the computer tech person was able to rid your laptop of whatever virus is infecting it! They can be a real pain in the patootie!
Cyn, I think Col needs to do a lot of healing, too, and not just physical. He's trying to learn how to deal with an unexpected change. I'm glad he has some good days in between the sleeping days!
Midge, I had to take a moment to find out what hessian bags are. I'm sorry to hear you family has been passing a bug around. There are so few things you can safely take that won't counter some of your meds. I hope you're on the mend. And good luck to both horses! I hope their jockeys will know how they prefer to run!
Heidi, we all know you are taking care of your animals as best you can. Do you need to go somewhere to get the diesel fuel, or can it be delivered to you?
Midge, you didn't need to worry about your comment to MizT. I'm sure we all were able to read what you meant!
Well, hubby and I spent some time today trying to track down some of the information we need to work on the taxes. Lots more work to do, though.

Midge, I knew what you meant. I think I read right over it, correcting as I went.
I have spent a little time out clearing some of the winter kill from plants. Of course, my knee had to complain about it, bummer. But I will try again tomorrow, for a shorter time, till I find what the knee is happy with. I got the Boston Ferns outside, cut the dead from the chrysanthemums, what I could reach from my chair. I need to find the long handled loppers to reach further into the bed, and some of the branches are to large for my hand held ones. New green shoots are coming up already, yeah. Just a few minuets does make a difference in the looks.
We are under a severe weather watch, a new weather catagory, PDS, particularly dangerous situation, with LOTS of hail in quick pop up T storms. Later tonight they are watching for tornadoes in these storms. Some have already produced golf ball sized hail. I see from my window our bus has been moved, parked under the bridge between the 2 buildings. Hope that will protect from hail damage to it. My mini van is in the lot under my building, should protect it some, too. Weather forecasting is still such an inexact science, and the more hype the media gives these potential situations, and then luckily the worse does not happen, the less the public listens the next time. Today here started out foggy, over cast, but before noon bright and sunny, NOT what ya want, the more heat, the easier for storms to pop up. I am charging both cell phones, in case we loose power, and getting down my battery powered lanterns. I need to remember how to turn one of them on, never had to use it yet and did not keep instructions, bummer.
Suzi, I would phone the vet and let them know how impossible it has been to keep Gizmo still. A mild sedative pill might be the answer. The vet should have some kind of solution for you.
I am reading a book, second in a series, and just not enjoying it. Can't give myself permission to pick up something else.
Heidi, sorry to hear that Rede had to be put down, but in his case, it was the thing to do. If you cannot stay awake more than 30 min at the time, it might be time to check in with your doctor. In the past, sleeping that much was because of a raging infection. If it were me, I would drag myself down to get that checked out.
Need to get knee rested again. Hugs to each of you with extras, till later.

Suzy, I'm glad Gizmo has reined in his activity level somewhat, but I hope he hasn't injured himself further. MizT's suggestion that you get in touch with the vet (and possibly get some type of sedative for Gizmo) may be well warranted.
DOrA, you sound like the voice of experience in discussing animals and their reaction to injury, then feeling a bit better, then doing too much.
Heidi, I'm so sorry to hear about Rede. It's good to know that his new owners did the right thing, though I imagine they were plenty devastated about the situation. I know he was very special to you.
MizT, I'm glad you have been able to get outside and do some of the work with your plants/garden! So sorry it might have been too much. It's such a temptation to do a little more, and then a little more, and then realize it was too much.
I'm glad you're getting ready for the possible bad weather, MizT. It's better to have what you might need handy, rather than waiting until you absolutely need it and having no power or light to track things down. I hope the weather won't be as bad as predicted.
Heidi, have you thought about contacting your doctor? Certainly you have had a lot going on which could contribute to the way you're feeling, but it may be worth confirming your hunch.
MizT, I hope resting your knee will do the trick and it will feel better tomorrow!
And now, back to the ongoing hunt for materials needed before the taxman's deadline.
Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts,
