I wish someone would make a coffee colored kitchen sponge. Just opened a new yellow sponge to replace one that looked dirty and stained. first job for it was wiping down the counter (bench) where I had spilled a bit of coffee. Now new sponge looks as dirty as the old one!

Oh, MizT, I totally agree about the sponge.
Yep, the weather worldwide is ridiculous but we had a cool enough night last night at 17c that I had to turn off the ceiling fan. That thing has been working overtime since October!
Suzy, I don't think Col's employers will work him too hard because the way the medical certificate reads is that he can go back to work but 'at his own pace', so if he gets tired or his eye hurts he should only have to say so. But they have been so good and so concerned about what happened I think they'll be okay. They know he doesn't take advantage like some do.

MizT - a boil up on the stove will fix the sponge. I do this every couple of days to clean mine (use bleach as well sometimes). Hope your knee is getting better - it must be so awkward and frustrating.
Good news about Col - he will enjoy being back with his workmates and give you a breather too. 24/7 is hard sometimes, no matter how much you care. Mine has gone to China today for 8 days - wish I could go but someone has to man the office. No 3 son went too - will be interesting as they lose patience with each other pretty quickly. Hope your new kitchen is just as you expected - gourmet cooking on the go? Last night my oven was used again for delaminating glass samples - certainly will be getting another asap, although not cooking is a nice break.
Heidi we are experiencing similar but not as drastic weather as you. We are truly in autumn now and with daylight saving gone, I get home in the dark. Last night was pretty late as the battery died in my Avensis van and I had to wait for roadside service in the rain to get a new one. $224 later (and my normal car a subaru in for fixing steering struts, I wasn't too happy). $440 for the subaru and it goes back for a service in a month! Looks like I wait another few weeks to get my haircut.

I broke another tooth off. It's a crown on a back molar, but I also broke the base it was sitting on. That's beyond my ability to repair. The dentists can't get me in until Thursday afternoon. (It's Tuesday now.) Fortunately it doesn't hurt much. The nerve may be dead.
In case anybody is wondering how I broke it.... I was eating a potato chip. That takes skill to break a tooth on a potato chip.

Ouch, Heidi, breaking a tooth on a potato chip is a bit unfortunate. I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble before you can see the dentist.
Midge, thank goodness for roadside assistance.
Our weatherman said last night we were officially into autumn. Hope he's right.

Hi, Fellow Sudokuaholics! I apologize for my negligence to let you all know that we had a very busy week and were experiencing computer issues as well. I envisioned few or no visits during the past week or so, and should have let you know.
I have read and forgotten a lot.
Cyn, good news about Col's eye, being able to return to work at his pace, and even able to drive some! I bet you can't wait for your kitchen update1
Midge, sorry about the car situations. Enjoy watching the races and perhaps some quiet time while hubby and Son #3 are in China.
Heidi, I hope you are feeling better, but bummer about the broken crown and tooth. Hopefully any pain is minimal.
MizT, I'm glad your knee is better and you're taking care of yourself!
Suzy, I hope it's not too aggravating needing to wait for Alie to get ready for work. I can sympathize!
DOrA, the climate change seems pretty evident this year. Another 1 to 3 inches predicted hear tomorrow night.
That's all I remember. Sorry for the lapses of memory. I'm thinking of all of you and send healing energy, positive thoughts,

Greetings friends. Yes, the knee is getting better, thankfully. The Doc had X rays taken, from all sorts of angles, and saw nothing unusual. since it had started getting better, he opted to wait 3 weeks before investigating further. Next would be MRI of the knee. If it gets worse again, or does not continue to improve, I am to phone and let them schedule MRI. During my time in his office, at least 4 people popped in to ask just why I could not take oral anti- inflammatory medications. Well, at least shows they were reading my chart. that would have been standard prescription for anyone with my knee problems, but nope, no can do.
Midge, I put my wet kitchen sponge into microwave, it does kill germs, but does nothing to improve it's color. Might have to try your boil up method.
Heidi, we have not had snow, but about once a week, a night of near freezing weather. I saw yesterday morning a frost warning notice that I should have seen Monday night. Luckily my tender plants are under the cross walk between buildings and were saved from frost. I do not recall ever having such weather as we are having now. Today it will reach almost 80*F (26.6 C)Dress in layers for the cool mornings, by 2 pm, start shedding the long sleeves.
Ahhh, a welcome announcement from our staff. Our Veggie Man will be here shortly. He has not come bring vegetables and fruit for sale since early fall. I hope he has tomatoes, and some other veggies.
Hugs to each of you, till later.

MizT, I'm glad the knee is continuing to improve. I'm also pleased to read that so many of the doctor's staff members had obviously read your chart and were following up to confirm information. I hope the Veggie Man had an adequate supply of the veggies you wanted!

That IS good news, MizT.
Just 4 1/2 hours until my dental appointment. I really need this one. It's an inconvenience being able to eat on one side of the mouth only. I worry about the gaping hole below the gumline getting packed with food.
Yesterday I had an eye exam. The old glasses were as good as useless. I could no longer read road signs. The right eye was particularly bad. And the cataracts in both eyes are growing.

Hi, Everyone!
Heidi, I'm sorry to read that this was not been a great week. At least what's left of the tooth is covered for now, which may make eating a bit easier. So, just under a month until your root canal.
Not the best news from the eye exam either, Heidi. Will you be getting new glasses? Will you be able to put off cataract surgery for a while, or will that be in the foreseeable future?

I'm getting new glasses since the prescription has changed a LOT. They'll be here in a week. The cataract surgery is in the distant future. They want me to come in yearly for check-ups on the cataracts. I'm not worried about the surgery since it has become so routine.

Hi, Friends!
Heidi, I imagine the new glasses will make a remarkable difference! I have been putting off filling a new prescription because it seems my vision is worsening since I got it. In 5 months I'll have my next annual appointment. I've decided I need to get the new glasses then, even if I'll need replacements every year. And you're right about the cataract surgery; it has become routine. If you have annual check-ups, both you and your eye doctor will know when the right time is to pursue it. I hope you and all of your 4-legged family and winged family are doing well!
MizT, I'm crossing fingers that your knee continues to improve, and hopefully the weather will, too!
Cyn, I hope you and Col are both doing well!
Suzy, thinking of you, your D's and your grandies! Hoping you're all well, and that Gizmo is healing nicely.

Grrr... I’m finally off the med that made me gain weight. It’s wonderful! I’m no longer hungry 24 hours a day. If I have a decent lunch, I don’t need much for dinner. The girls have started watching me and surreptitiously counting my calories. They insist I’m eating anorexic levels of food. It’s bull of course. But nag nag nag. Serving me more food than I can possibly eat. Nag nag.

Suzy, you must be loosing weight, if your girls think you're not eating enough It sounds like a mixed blessing, though. I hope they don't insist that you should keep a food journal. It's nice, though, that they are concerned about your health, IF they don't over-do it!

Met my new counsellor today. Once again, overwhelmed. It’s almost fun now. Hit them with it all at once. They kind of freak a little bit. (Wow, you’ve had a lot of trauma in your life.) that’s apparently the psychological term for sh1t.

I haven't been on line much in the past few days. I got a new toy. It's called television. I haven't watched one in several years. So I'm seeing what's on. The novelty and selection are coming to an end quickly. 150 channels to watch, and rarely anything interesting. Why is it that there was as much to watch when only 3 channels were availble?

I haven't been here in days either but I have been organising for our renos. All getting closer now, new kitchen goes in next week, very exciting. It will be white with black benchtops. Trying to sell the old solid oak one. No takers yet.
New ensuite goes in on May 17 and new bathroom not until June 14.
All I have to organise now is the tiles for all 3 rooms. Probably will do that today.

I totally agree about TV. We have Foxtel -Australia's only choice for cable, owned by Murdoch. Hundreds of channels, nothing to watch. We also have Netflix and Stan. Not much better. With Col home in the last months and being limited with what he can do, he has often turned to TV but we spend/waste so much time just searching through menus for something to watch.
We're going to drop some of the packages Foxtel offers and Netflix (Stan offers a lot of the same programs as Netflix, it is cheaper and easier to negotiate the menu.)

Heidi I find the HBO serials (usually only 1 or 2 seasons) are pretty good. Currently watching Westworld too but you will have to watch the 1st season. I tape David Attenborough also so I can fast forward the ads and the history channels. I am sure you will find some interesting watching (if you eliminate all the cruddy soapies).
You are going to be busy CynB - hope you enjoy your updated reno.
Good on you Suzy - best to give them the whole lot in one go, but I really think you are coping well now. No 3 son has lost a lot of weight quickly just by cutting out carbs (hard to do for the first week).
Hubby and son return tomorrow from China - have enjoyed the quiet at night - can read and not annoy anyone, play Joe Cocker loud when I feel like it and eat what I like. Pure bliss.
Where is Mizt? Hope she is o.k.

Hello, Friends!
Suzy, congratulations on the weight loss so far! So, you have introduced your counselor to your life story. At least you have given her or him a starting point! I hope you will feel some benefits.
The subject of TV is interesting. Hubby watches far more than I do. There are a few (3 or 4) programs I watch with him and usually none I watch by myself. I spend more time on the computer. He usually watches about 4 hours or so a day, mostly after dinner. He enjoys programs about cars and fixing them and watches some races. He also likes to watch things on the History channel, including stuff about wars, and also 'cartoon'-type shoes, like the Simpsons.
Cyn, you sound very busy. I hope you find someone to buy the cabinets and things that will be replaced. I hope the reno proceeds smoothly! Remember how much you will enjoy the new as the old is removed.
Midge, I'm glad you've enjoyed the time in a quieter house (except when you're playing Joe Cocker
) That sounds wonderful!
I looked back, and noticed that MizT posted 5 days ago. If the weather has been good and warm enough, she may have been doing gardening the last few days. I hope that's the explanation for her absence here.

Greetings (from a curly haired person)!
I understand Alie's frustration. My Dad had curly hair. I'm the only one of 6 kids who was 'blessed,' though there may be a wave or two in one sibling's hair. One of 2 children has some wave in her hair, particularly if she get caught in the rain. I can't imagine what my hair would be like if both of my parents had curly hair.
I hope MizT's knee is feeling better!
