I love that thought!
I would much rather my old 90's house that is filled with wonderful memories. I never covet those big roomy soulless mansions that people build.
Maybe I'm feeling a bit sentimental today. Yesterday was father's day and during the day we saw everyone on the family, some left early, some came late, most overlapped the others, but it was a day filled with love and laughter. That's the richness of life.

I hope you are feeling better Heidi. I hate to hear when that ear infection starts up again. It must be so painful.

You are always so busy Julie. How are things with your hubby's health, and your own?

While I am on my computer I often open YouTube and pick an artist then go to do what I want on other sites while listening to their music. Usually once you pick an artist it just keeps going with whatever else it can find of the same artist. Usually I pick 60's and 70's rock but today I picked Frank Sinatra. I'm so enjoying listening to his music. He makes it sound so easy. For someone like me who only sings when I'm alone, I have the worst voice.

But Sandy is not doing well. She's going downhill fast. I think it's a matter of weeks, not months or years. The only other time I had a dog with bone cancer, she lasted 3 1/2 years after the diagnosis.

Hi, Everyone! This is just a quick post. We took an extension for filing taxes this year. Theoretically, I think we have until the end of October, so I wasn't worrying about it yet. We found about a week ago that he really needs to have everything by the end of this week. So, every spare moment (in between hubby's PT and appointments) has been spent trying to pull everything together. I'm hoping to be ready to take it to him on Friday, whether I have everything or not. We may need to ask him to prioritize the things he needs/wants. I just hope the urgency isn't health-related.

I hope everyone one well, but just in case, I'm sending loads of healing energy, warm positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and for Everyone!

Time to turn off the computer as a storm has finally arrived, and I need to get to bed. Take care, Everyone!

Random thoughts.........

Heidi, Sorry to hear the latest about Sandy.

Julie, I was able to send my tax info to my cpa, via secure email, this year. I haven't heard anything back, so hopefully, I sent everything they need.

CynB, When I'm in the 'right frame of mind', Frank Sinatra is a pleasure to listen to. I also would prefer to live in an older house. At least not a fancy new one that I would have to be a slave to, or hire outside help to maintain it.

Breezy and mild somewhere, today. Temperature range 86 / 47 F.

Hi, Everyone!

Great TOPP, CynB! I didn't realize your Father's Day was this weekend. I'm glad everyone was able to celebrate with Col and you at some point during the day!

Heidi, I'm glad to hear that your fever broke and you're beginning to feel better. I'm so sorry to hear that Sandy is not doing well and is going downhill fast. If only there were some magic pill! We know she's so special to you and hope her remaining time with you is filled with happy memories! Wishing the best for both of you!

DOrA, I think no new is probably good news if you haven't heard from your cpa! They're usually pretty vocal when they need more information to complete a return. (I know because one of my brothers is a cpa. We haven't asked him to work on our taxes for years, and now he's retired.)

It has been rainy off and on today. We REALLY needed it - the first rain in weeks, it seems. Instead of temperatures in the 80s or higher, they were mostly in the 60s, really more like autumn temperatures.

My apologies for the lost comments a few days ago. There hasn't been a moment to go back and re-read, then rewrite comments. I hope everyone knows that I'm thinking of all of you and sending !

I'm hoping by the weekend to find a bit of time to visit here. In the meantime, we have a crazy week: 2 appointments and a meeting today; an appointment, cello lesson & picking up X-ray films tomorrow; an appointment on Thursday; and 2 appointments on Friday. Luckily, the next 2 weeks aren't quite as tightly scheduled.

Good morning all!
So pleased to come back here and find people posting again. Had a few eerie days there!
So glad the ear is feeling better, Heidi. But sorry about Sandy going downhill so fast.
Julie, Julie, Julie - you are always so busy. Pleased to hear from you. I hope you get those taxes done in time.
Reminded me that Col has to get his tax organised. Our financial year ends on 30th June and we traditionally have until the end of September to file so we should get a move on. He should get a refund which will partly pay for our upcoming road trip.

I just got this in my email - good news for South Australia: Australian Marine Conservation Society ยท
'BREAKING: The South Australian Parliament has just passed historic new laws that will ban killer single-use plastics, starting in early 2021! It's a historic win for our turtles, whales and seabirds.' Congratulations to South Australia!

Hi, Everyone! I'll admit that a few of the appointments and all cello lessons are mine. Most of the remaining appointments are hubby's, including 2 or 3 PT sessions per week. We have been encouraged to get a second or third opinion by or from neurologists and neurosurgeons. We and they wonder if something has been missed and are just trying to get symptoms sorted and get him on the right track. He now has a date for the partial cornea transplant, so there are some pre- and post- surgery appointments. The Contacts list in our phones is growing, until we can eliminate whichever of the first, second, or third opinion doctors can be eliminated. I don't think we have ever sought a second opinion before (though maybe we should have), so this is new territory for us.

Heidi, I hope your fever stays away and your ear infections begin to clear up. Keeping positive thoughts going for you and for Sandy!

CynB, I hope Col is able to get his tax organized and filed. A refund sounds like a really pleasant surprise - and just on time for your road trip!

I hope we might be due for a refund, as well. It could come in handy when the medical bills start coming in. Luckily, we have fairly decent insurance, and I think we're on our way to reaching some of the deductibles.

After my brief break here, I need to get back to tax work. Luckily we don't have an appointment tomorrow morning, so I'll have some time then to work on it, as well.

Thinking of everyone and sending , positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers! Good Night!

Hi, Everyone!

Heidi, thanks for letting us know that (now) Hurricane Sally may go right over MizT. I hope you can find a safe place, if necessary! (How did we get all the way to Sally? Wasn't Laura just last week? Did they skip some letters of the alphabet?

Heidi, it definitely sounds like you need to see your doctor, and sooner, rather than later. I hope you can get an appointment quickly!

When hubby tried to make an appointment for a quick 'physical' prior to being scheduled for the upcoming cornea transplant, primary care didn't have any openings before November. He will need to see another doctor in the practice. Is that an indication that the primary care doctor is sought out by many patients?

I need to watch the video of my last week cello lesson, so will need to say Good Night! Thinking of Everyone and sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, , & prayers for All!

Hurricane Sally won't be coming anywhere near me. I probably won't be getting a single drop of rain from her. Once she passes through Birmingham, she's supposed to turn due east instead of north towards me. This is an extremely slow moving hurricane (forward movement) which allows it to build up power and increases flood waters.

Gosh, I haven't been here for days! Probably because I have no news and nothing interesting is happening.
Col had his monthly checkup with the opthalmologist yesterday. His vision is slow to return and it is frustrating for him. The doctor is still optimistic. He says everything is in place for a good eventual result but the cells at the back of his eye that were damaged so badly are slow to regain the necessary blood supply but the signs are there. Slowly, slowly! He went and got new glasses for his other eye and is experiencing less headaches and is able to see well again with that eye.
Can't wait for our road trip next month!

No news = the best news.

Though Col's progress is slow, there IS progress. And he's far better off than he was before the surgery.

Heidi, thanks again for continuing information about Hurricane Sally! I hope MizT will be safe!

Are you feeling better? Have you been able to schedule a doctor appointment? Please take care of yourself, Heidi!

CynB, thanks for the update on Col! While he has some improvement, I can understand his frustration and impatience that the improvements are slow to come. I'm pretty sure we'll face the same when hubby gets his transplant. He is so fed up with his horrible vision and just wants it to get better - and SOON! I suspect he'll be happy when he can safely drive again. The cornea specialist hasn't really said much about a timeline for improved vision - just that the recovery for a partial is a matter of 4 or 5 months, I think, and a full transplant recovery is more like a year. Col's new glasses and fewer headaches sound like a great improvement! Your trip next month may be a big boost to his confidence and patience.

CynB, thanks for checking on MizT's facebook page for updates!

Hi all, haven't been here in a while. We are working from home but very little happening so more time to spend trying to tidy up the garden and house. Our storm of a couple of weeks ago demolished our top balcony and damaged guttering and chimney. Our lovely big gum is now looking a bit sparce after the tree lopper cut away the broken branches. - he did a great job as he had to climb about 3 storeys high and work partially in the dark. The damage to the kitchen ceiling inside will also be replaced.
Hope you are feeling better Heidi and so sorry to read about your Sandy.
My friend with MS (the one i was cooking for) passed away on 31/8 at home and her funeral was yesterday. So strange to go to a funeral with only 10 people being allowed. It was broadcast to her family in Sydney, USA and UK. CynB we spoke about her corneal transplant not long before and it was wonderful , she was even contemplating getting the other eye done - I don't know what a partial one is but I looked after her for a few days after her transplant and it seemed to heal pretty quickly - hope Col's is the same.
Julie - best wishes to your hubby for his upcoming transplant.
Wish we could do a road trip too CynB, being stuck in our homes isn't easy.
My brother is back in hospital for another toe (no. 3) to be removed. He has osteomyelitis in his foot which is proving a challenge to eradicate. He lives a couple of hours from us in regional Victoria (stage 3 lockdown) and he is in hospital just 5 kms from us and because of covid we cannot visit - so frustrating, His partner cannot visit either as she needs to be able to look after huim when he comes home and not be in isolation. Wish we had elections for state government this year.
Best wishes everyone

Molly is going in for her spay tomorrow morning. She's NOT going to enjoy being crated for the next few days while she heals. But we suspect that she has cyctic ovaries, and if she isn't spayed now may develop uterine cancer, or at least pyometra.

Midge, I'm so glad you were able to drop by and leave a comment. I'm so sorry to hear about the damage from your recent storm.

Condolences to you on the passing of your friend who had MS! Your comment on her recovery after her cornea transplant is very encouraging!

Such a shame that your brother is back in the hospital and will lose another toe. If COVID ever goes away it would be nice to be able to visit him when he's in a hospital nearby. What a shame that his partner can't visit, but she's very responsible in order to not need to quarantine when he returns home from the hospital.

Sending good and positive wishes for you and family, as well as for your brother!

Molly is at the Vet Clinic. It was much harder getting her there today than yeaterday. I had to carry her to the truck, then from the truck into the clinic. She's one of the most timid dogs I've ever known.... very unusual for a breed known for it's bravery and outgoing disposition. She's definitely not breeding material.
I'm feeling quite a bit better today. I hope it lasts.

Last night we lost one of the greatest women who ever lived, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was a strong proponent for equality for ALL, and particularly for women's rights to their own bodies. In a year of horrific events, this ranks as one of the worst. I don't know who can or will fill her shoes.
