Just my luck that you're all going to fling food when I need to vent!! Ally was called names at school today that I can't tell you because I will get kicked off the site. She spent lunchtime hiding in the toilets (and no, she didn't eat in there - she didn't eat). When she got home she lost it and started to cry. She cried so hard she said she couldn't breathe.

This morning I read the front page of the Daily Telegraph and felt sick.
Something has to be done about this problem.
When kids are killing themselves because of it, it's time to act.

In the classroom she was called b___, s___, gay, fat (so fat she doesn't have boobs she has rolls of fat) (BTW, have you seen her photo????) etc etc etc. etc etc etc and it spilled over to the playground with another sweetheart adding her two cents. These are mostly 11 year olds by the way.

I am not here, but had to send my hugs mate. My youngest had a tish of a time in primary. She was so sensitive about it she often came out of the school crying. I would often be found marching through the school in my work clothes with steam coming out of my nostrils! The only thing you can really do Suzy is be supportive of her, reaffirm her true value in life and tell her to toughen up. They can't get into a hard shell. It's what I had to do for mine and now she is so hard, she can't cry anymore. Don't know what is worse...

Suzy & Ally - not fair, not fair at all. This bullying and peer pressure is getting beyond control. I agree with everything Gail said.
My granddaughter, Maddie, played up before school this morning because she wanted tuckshop today and only normally has it once a week on Fridays. It turned out that "Lily's having tuck-shop today and she won't like me if I don't have it too!" (Bet the little brat would eat Maddie's food as well- they are 7!!!!!!). I fear for their early teenage years. 9 year old Grandson, Lachlan, has a mate who is trying to dictate where Lachlan's birthday party will be (at $36 per head) AND who is going.

Ally has already toughened up a lot. I called the school (of course) and the teacher said she had seen no change in Ally from the beginning of the day to the end. She might just do well taking up acting as a career. It was only when she saw her mother that she fell to pieces!

I'm a very proud Mummy right now. Ebob often complains about Ally following her around, but has initiated a game of UNO with her! She is being supportive of her baby sister!!!

CynB - How horrible to think someone won't like you if you don't buy your lunch!! And Lachlan's 'friend' is no friend at all. I have always told my kids that telling people who can and can't be their friend is the worst form of bullying (not telling them that it is the first sign of domestic abuse).

Gail - it's so hard to teach them that the absolute worst thing they can do is show emotion to these bullies, yet that's exactly what we have to do. It totally completely sucks! I hope Toy Elephant (I assume it was her) learns to cry again one day as it helps - so long as the bullies don't see or know!

Thank you for the hugs and thoughts! I needed them tonight. It's one thing to be bullied yourself, quite another when it's your youngun! I'm going to go and pass on all your hugs to her (and get more myself in the process).

Night everyone! And thank you again for being typical thoughtful wonderful sudokians and supporting me.

Suzy, she will learn to cry again...the person who taught her has.
I was bullied terribly through my early years and had to 'toughen' up, and now I cry at the opening of a tissue box!

Love all the new avatars.
Suzy give Ally a hug from me. Surely there has got to be something the school can do about these girls.
If the teacher isn't noticing anything wrong or says she isn't then I would ave a word with the Head teacher. I don't know what the school system is in Australia, but here in England Ally would be changing to a different school this year.If it is the same in Australia then these same bullies might go to the same school and make her life Hell there too.
