Did anyone read Gail's idea for a smilie storage feature so we could save some of our less used ones for parties, cruises and the like? I think she said she posed this to Gath - I could sure use it as I have gone berzerk shopping for and submitting smilies - there are so many cute pictures out there in cyberspace!

I'm planning a slow day today, I'll do some stuff, sit around, do some more stuff... but no walking or rushing, I absolutely refuse!!!

And in keeping with my planned day, I'm having choccies for breakfast.

I'm kind of slow with all the "going on"s around here but am pretty confussed by all the posts about how the site has changed..."discussion and debate" (which for me is "confussion and complain" as far as I can tell) - can you bring me up to date, Suzy? or is that too arduous a task - or perhaps a "not worth your or my time" task.
Maybe I should just stay ignorant and be happy in my ignorant bliss!

hey! sorry i was catching up from where i left off. sis's family is coming over for dinner. i have my BIL here too. that makes a grand total of 14 to serve. have pork tenderloin roast. potatoes, honey glazed carrots, raspberry jello salad thing, rolls, and strawberries and cream for dessert.

Sounds like a fabulous feast and family affair - just don't goose your BIL!
or is that a different BIL???

Vici - in the 'old days' there were no extra pages, just the ones that go with the posts. There was no membership so you could say you were Jack the Ripper or Santa Claus, which led to some very funny posts, and pages of poetry ending with discussions over who wrote which poems. It could be a lot of fun. It got very busy, hence a chat room. Unfortunately there were also malicious posters who posted nasty garbage, and worse, some who pretended to be other people and posted offensive stuff in their name. Thus began supporting membership. With only the puzzle pages, all birthday wishes, congratulations, philosophical discussions etc happened in one place. Some of the people who are complaining now about the downfall of easy, complained then about 'drivel' and clogging the site with that stuff, leading to other pages.

I think I got it about right. Obviously from a biased point of view... Supposed to be getting the kids off to school.... back soon..

we are having a bit of a crisis in my family. my little sister's (31 years) hubby after 10 years of marriage, has decided to run off with the nanny and leave my sis with two young boys. i have been bawling all day for her. she is the provider in the family so she will be ok monitarily, but how to mend your heart? (too personal for a public site? i don't know, but this is consuming me and you all have such great insight.)

big sis is coming over for dinner. the little one lives in the seattle area.

Suzy - thanks for filling me in, that makes a lot of sense. I sure think Gath has done an excellent job on this site...and of course all of you who have made it what it is today.

Mariana, it must be something about having to feed 5 kids every night, but I doubt I would have the fortitude to whip something up for 14 as you are doing!

Oh mariana - my heart just breaks for your sister. All I can say is that she deserves better...and even though it sucks right now, God is cleaning house for her so she can be delivered "the goods".
That has always been my experience even though I can't remember it when I am in pain...but it is always better in the end.

mariana - bet it is tough being so far away right now. I hope your little sis has close friends, family or some sort of support in place in Seattle.

Mariana, this is exactly the place to post things that are bothering you! I am so sorry for your sister's hard times. That was two people she trusted slapping her in the face at the same time. I can't imagine what she is going through, but I do know she is lucky to have a sister (and other siblings I'm sure) who care and will be there for her emotionally.

we sure can relate to the god is "cleaning house" line! we are all a bit compulsive. i will pass that on to her. thanks suzy for not making me feel like an oversharer. you gals are great!

Mariana, if you're ever worried about posting something for everyone to see you can always send someone a private message..

But in this case I think here is good because here you can get support and encouragement on a grander scale!!

Just wanted to say, Mariana, my heart truly bleeds for your sister. Have seen it happen many times and I feel for her. Give her my cyber love.

Just did the tough puzzle and yet another memory from my past was dredged up by the picture. I'm always amazed at the way this site does that. It reminds me that this really is a small world...

Before I joined in this site and was just playing the puzzles daily, there were a serious of photos of rusted heaps throughout the Aussie countryside. I was getting such a kick out of that - who was submitting those?
I'm afraid not too many pictures on this site bring back memories for me...just hopefully future memories when I get to come see all of you down under!

The tough photo reminded me of high school unfortunately, not travel. We had to put on an Indonesian shadow puppet show. I don't remember all of the details, just that the coordinating teacher taught us PE, that we did a great job on the shadow puppets but kinda forgot to make a screen or write a good story. We ended up with a sheet stapled to two bits of wood for a screen and I can't remember what we did about the story...

I love the movie "A Year of Living Dangerously" and the character, Billie Quan, had some of those stick puppets.

Marianna.. Thoughts and prayers for your sister as she copes with being a single parent.

Mariana, I am so sorry for your worries now about your sister. It is a good thing there are phones and internet, so you can "be there" for her.

I must tell you my first thought was, Poor dear, where will she find a replacement nanny for those boys? This has to be doubly tragic for them, Dad and nanny were a big part of thier lives, you know.

Knowing that she will be OK financially should be a big comfort to you. That is one big worry your family does not have. Mending her heart will come with time.

I will keep you and your family in my heart and thoughts.

Mariana - this is exactly the place to come when you want to talk to someone - it's a lovely caring place (re-read my speech on p173).
I am so sorry about your sister's heartbreak. She must feel so betrayed. But with your big family, she will have lots of love and support and will, in time, get over it. It's awful for the kids, though. How this is handled from here on will determine how well they handle everything else in their lives. Lots more to say, might send you a private message when I get time. You're all in my thoughts. Sending hugs your way.

Mariana - my heart goes out to your sister. I think she is better off to be rid of them both. Better to find out sooner than later. I hope she can get over it quickly and I am sure there is someone better out there for her.
