Ahh, there comes bBroni, off loading the last of the stuff. Sorry I missed the cclean jp, HOW did I sleep through all that? Do we need to swab the decks? I am handy with a water hose!

The trip was wonderful, lovely food, great tourguide, wonderful conversations, and I learned a bit about the area , lots of fun. Enjoyed tremendously. Many thanks for the invite.

Ladies, as we return to our usual chores, hopefully we can plan to return to the sea cruises occassionally...that was lovely!
May we go about our day, May our joys be greater than our challenges and May we count our many blessings with gratitude and thankfulness! Peace.

OH GOODNESS, weather is strange everywhere. My little weather saga, well I am sure many would trade places with me in a second. But, that being said . . . I need to vent!

We got hit by lightning! Second time in a year. Still not sure what all it got, but known casualties are the ethernet switch to the office computer and a couple ceiling fans in the house. Might be more computer stuff after he gets that ethernet up and running again, like cat 5 cable, and ethernet cards inside computer and who knows what. Last time that ethernet got a hit, it also took out 3 printers, the DSL modem, and anything connected to the phone lines.

so hubby is off to the computer store to start this, he has to have his internet in the office (says he. He could come to my computer and do his work, but it would not be out in his shop office like he wants it)

I was sitting very close to one ceiling fan when sparks flew and smoke billowed . . OK, not billowed exactually, puffed maybe. But it was smoke and it smelled like smoke and burning electric wires. Lightning cracked loud and continued close. I grabbed the phone and left the room, toward the back door, but then thought, nope, not good to go out in the open back yard, lightning might get ME. So I did a very silly thing, I got hubby on the phone intercom (portable, no wires, so not in danger of blowing up in my hand) and told him, we got hit, smoke in the house, come quick.

So, that sends HIM outside across that same stretch of open ground that I would not travel, DUH!

OK, I am through, and have stopped shaking, but this caused just a bit of a fright. This was not a severe t storm or a large one, just your garden variety pop up summer thunder shower. maybe 2 miles on a side, not covering a lot of real estate. But all the storms lately have this fierce and dangerous lightning, way more strikes than in an ordinary storms of a few years ago. AAAAAAGGH!

Ouch MizT!! So scary!! Glad that you and hubby are okay and nothing actually burned down, and I hope the damage is not as bad as last time.

Your DUH reminds me of a time many many years ago.... I was working on the edge of LA during the riots. I went to work one day knowing that they had not reached my workplace, but were coming close. At lunch time one of the guys rushed in and said/yelled 'They're at Fedco!!!' That was 2 doors down. (Factory size doors, but hey, why ruin a good story?) I called hubby, 45 minutes drive away, and said 'They're here!!!'. He said 'I'm coming to get you'. Luckily my brain then switched on and I reminded him that he would have to drive THROUGH the riots to get to me. A while later I was able to leave and got home using some convoluted back route that took hours to navigate. I went back the next day to find the parking lot covered in ash, shopping carts with empty TV boxes etc. The Safety Manager was manning the switch - he'd spent all night on the roof of the factory (down the road from the building I worked in) watching for danger, (flammable and explosive solvents) along with several factory employees. Made me feel chicken! I manned the switch for a couple of hours while he went home to sleep - which I felt was heroic and I'd never used one of those darned things before!

A young bower bird is standing on a rail on my patio watching me work at the computer. He is after dog food, and is deciding whether I am a threat to his quest...

Hi June. I don't have a bower unfortunately, but I did think about planting some blue things around to see if they disappeared. Apparently there is a bower in the front yard of a house down the street from me. Thinking about walking down there today to check it out.

JUNE< JUNE, it was ME that got lightning, not Mama. Pay attention there, girl!

We cannot get one for our power box. I do wish we could get some lightening arrester, or surge protector out there. we do have them on our computers and TV and such. NOT on the Ethernet line that hard wires the dome to the house for internet service. I think that is where it gets in both times. We will see.

Neighbor 2 dors down lost his entire phone system, all phones in his house, but NOT his DSL line or computers. Phone lines are vulnerable. I need to learn where phone first comes into house for DSL, it is here at my desk somewhere in the spaghetti, and UNPLUG it when lightning gets as close as that.

Good maEn, Everyone! Hello June, Broni, Lee, MizTricia, Mamacita, Suzy, Gail, and Rolanda! It seems much quieter here today. Maybe all that sea air yesterday made everyone tired. Thank you so much for the exciting cruise, Broni! It was a wonderful day with wonderful company!
MizT, sorry to hear about the lightning strike. I hope there wasn't much damage!
Suzy, your experience of the LA riots sounds frightening!
June, I hope you and Laura enjoy the rest of the day!
Broni & Rolanda, I hope the house "stuff" gets done quickly!
To those I've missed, it was NON intentional. Have a great day!

Hi Julie, yes the sea air and sun does that to you, makes you mellow and relaxed, all your worries are still on the land they are not allowed out on the water. Yes I think our next trip will be down the southern end of the bay, nestled amongst all the small islands, they give you protection from the elements and we can go for adventures ashore as well.

Attention, Fellow SA5-ers!
I had an e-mail from Stella today. She says Hello and misses all of us. Life has been VERY busy and complicated for her for the past several weeks! She didn't even know we had progressed to SA5. Her e-mail was rather long and explained much of what has gone on with bringing 3 children and their stuff home from school, getting them ready for summer, visitors, and hubby having a detached retina, I believe. If anyone wants more specific information, you can let me know by private e-mail. In the meantime, we might want to keep Stella and her family in our thoughts.

MizT so sorry to hear about your lightning strike, we got hit last January & lost several TV, phones & computer. The lightning struck the tree out front & came in the front door, my eldest son was watching TV in the family room & luckily for once he was laying on the lounge NOT sitting right in front of the TV. Hubby said son turned white when the room lit up & couldn't stop shaking. Luckily I was at work, didn't see or hear a thing

Today I had coffee with friends (same as every other Saturday - that is, every two weeks), took d2 to netball (they won!), took d1 to the library and went grocery shopping. I hadn't seen one of the friends since she had been to Bali - she brought me gifts!! A bracelet with my name on it made from a $2 coin and a beady thing to hang on my handbag. The bracelet had to be made to order as it had my name spelled correctly!!! Very very rare that is.
