I don't know what workmen are like out in Oz or the US, but I am constantly having to make tea and coffee for them.

Unfortunately today is a little cool, not cold, but it is raining slightly. I'm being very good and not drinking too much so I don't have to go out too often to spend a penny

The jeans I wear to walk are getting looser, but they're usually fairly loose, which is why I chose them. My other jeans still feel snug. It's hard to tell... Hubby says it shows in my face.

LOL Brenda, you'll end up dehydrated!
It's a mix here, most refuse and have their own thermos, but there's the odd one who'll say yes if you offer. I've never been asked though. Are you being asked?

The guys doing the heating did say it was part of the contract that I provided tea at least every hour
Dan who is doing the bathroom never asks but never refuses.
My first husband was a joiner/carpenter and always told me that I must offer drinks to workmen as they need them to replace the sweat doing their jobs.

Hmmmm. I hope they drink quickly. A break every hour could add up to a lot of time off the job!

I don't even have a drink that often. Fortunately the job is on a fixed price so doesn't matter how long they take I wont be paying them anything more.

I don't know about in the UK, but here a cup of tea can cost up to $3 in a coffee shop.... Keep track and try to deduct!!! Might give them pause....

Good evening, Suzy, Brenda,Viv,and anyone else who drops by.
Have Sharon here. Very sore and now in bed. Laura does not want to move ito the bed in the other room and anounced she would sleep in the middle of 'Grandma's bed'. that is where she is asleep now but will be carried to the other bed soon.
Son in Melbourne rang to say his trip to hospital today for day surgery on his knee had gone well (I had forgotten he was also in hospital today)What a terrible Mother!!
Then Laura goes in next Wednesday. Becoming tired of hospitals.

Played bowls today. It was friendship day so we had both men and women and also people from other clubs. Had a great game and Ken was my skip and he had a fantastic game and we won nearly every end. Backs is playing up a bit tonight from both the bowls and extra jobs I have done at home.

Suzy, it has been heard of for someone to try and charge for all drinks provided to workmen, but that got laughed at.
I don't begrudge them their drinks, they don't actually stop work while having them. I once had a workman in who used to expect a bacon sandwich for his 10 o'clock..... I soon ran out of bacon(not really but that was what I told him) and couldn't get to the supermarket to get more.

June, pleased to hear that Sharon is now out of hospital and on the mend. I'm sure your son will forgive you for forgetting he was going into hospital for a knee op. Sharon's problem turned out to be a lot more serious than thought and you had Laura to look after too.
Sounds as if you had a good day at bowls, you deserved the break

Brenda - my hubby (a contractor in the US) always offers anyone who comes to our place (we don't have working help, but deliveries and such) drinks...but it's not mandatory by any means. Some of the guys accept - most have their own.
June - such great news about Sharon and your son. Also glad you had a relaxing and fun day of bowls.

Having a slow day here. Slept late, now need to feed some REALLY dirty clothes to the machine. I need something to wear to my Cattlemen's meeting tonight. That's about the height of my social life. Then may take a nap while the machine is running.
BTW I've loved everyones Hottie pictures. Quite a bunch of lookers.

Morning all! I'm up Heidi, but sorting the last of the belly busters so I can get out as soon as the girls have left for school. It seems to be easier if I start early.
Vici, by my calcs it's only 20 mins until you call MizT. Don't forget!

Hello everyone! Sorry I'm posting without reading, but I just got off the phone with Tricia (boy it is weird hearing her voice after I heard it for so long in my head differently!). She is doing very well and was able to talk to me as they didn't put her under general anethsia (sorry Ruby - don't have that other browser up yet, so I'm sure I mis-spelled that one!)
They gave her a spinal block and it took them 4 sticks to get it right. That was the worse part of the whole ordeal as she is now VERY sore from it - with pain down her legs, too. But she's taking pain meds and is OK right now.
Al is being a doll, helped her fix the dressing and bought her chocolates! The doctor was pleased with what he found and believed they caught it just in time. She will probably hear about the biopsy when she goes back in a week - 10 days.

Here's some great news from her that she wanted me to be sure to share with you...no pushing the sucky thing around for quite a while!!!
Also, on her way from the recovery room to a secondary recovery room she caught the aroma of coffee and the nurse brought her a cuppa with some graham crackers to settle her stomach. She was thrilled about that!
So she won't probably make it to the computer today as her back is so sore. She's suppose to stay lying down. We may here from her tomorrow.
She sends her love and is very grateful for everyone's prayers, well-wishes and support.

Thanks Suzy for doing those calculations. I tried to but it was way too early for me. My brain needs a while to get into gear.
But yes, Vici, another one waiting for news of MizT.

June, glad to hear Laura slept well. How about Sharon?
I think you should go and get one of those multifunction things that do slides as well as scanning just so we can see your hottie pics! Seems like a good enough reason to me....
