You can take the girl out of Texas but not the Texas out of the girl and ultimately not the girl out of Texas.

Kate - Thank you for your visit. My Knabe is in rough shape, also. It is a Baby Grand. I had an estimate several years ago that it would cost about $5,000 to $10,000 to refinish and restring it. That is a lot of money. We are looking into retiring to Virginia. I don't think I would want to put that kind of money into it, to move it that many miles. I love the tone of a Knabe. I have an electronic piano, but the sound just isn't there. They don't compare to an accoustical piano!

Hi Kate,
From the old Scottish meaning of cutty sark, it is a short skirt or dress. In the Burns poem he shouts the remark at the young witch because of what she is wearing.

Hey Kate, Sorry for taking so long to answer. I live in Bartlesville. We are about 40 miles north of Tulsa. I know what you mean about the rivalry of all the schools. We have OSU and OU alumni in the family also thoses who just like a certain schools. They tease one another but that is all, which is good.

Kate - I don't think I even mentioned that I used to go watch Lyle on Friday evenings at Mr. Gattis pizza! He has come a long way since then.
He is also an incredible guy.
I didn't recognize all the names you mentioned as musicians - I am going to look them up.

Kate - yes, I went to A&M - two degrees and 250 credit hours worth!
My mother taught kindergarten at the church right across the street from where Lyle and Robert Earl Keen lived. She used to take her kids over and they would sit on the porch while the guys played music for them! That was 'This Old Porch' that the song was written about.
What memories.

Kate - you mentioned 'your writer' Louie Bond. Is that the same Louie Bond that wrote an article about Jacob's Well on the Wimberley.com website?

Kate - nope, I don't know Louie, but what is weird is that I worked for years with Louis Bond here in College Station!
I strongly suspect if they sang the porch song for my mother's kindergartners that they changed the words. Those guys were/are Texas gentlemen, and I suspect they were very glad to play for the kids! I saw Lyle for years after he left when he still came back to play at coffeehouses and such.
If you are ever famous enough to have your own writer, I can say I 'knew' you when!!

Thanks for the ice cream Kate, between you and Greg I'm going to be the size of a house in no time! Please share the Native Pepperberry cheese I brought back from Tasmania

I'm repeating myself as I answered your questions on my page, then thought that I should visit directly.

The youtube video is a band called OK GO. Their website is www.okgo.net check it out it's very funny. They have the most incredible coordination I've ever seen.
The avatar was borrowed from a wallpaper (as in real wallpaper, not for the computer!) sample image, I just resized it with a photo editing program. It took a couple of goes to make it work.

PS. Your granddaughter is absolutely beautiful!

Hi Kate...About 3 months ago I became very ill and had lots of tests done but all showed me to be in good health. It turned out that it was stress. I was finding it very difficult to live the life of a carer and it was an agonising decision to make to move on. Mark was very upset and it was all very distressing.
I do have a new/old man in my life. By that I mean that he is a person I used to go out with in my twenties and we never really stopped having feelings for each other. So here it is 23 years later and we have finally started a new life together and it's all just wonderful.

Yes, he is still suffering from his condition and it is all very sad. I do hope he finds somebody who can give him the support he needs both emotionally and financially. He is a lovely man and it's so sad that it didn't work out for us. I just couldn't do it.

Hi Kate

I don't know if a fishing guy or a golfing guy is best. I do both even the seasons tend to overlap. I enjoy both but fishing is my all time favorite for relaxing. I have a boat and like to get on the lake most weekends when we have descent weather.
Thanks for visiting my page.

Hi Kate!
Your little granddaughter is darling. Looks like she enjoys chewing shoes just like our new puppy! See you were able to figure out how to load pictures using Flickr. Did you know when you sign into your Flickr account you can just click on any of the captions & change them? That way you can show names & dates or whatever you want to put with each picture rather than SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA. Other people on the site have helped me learn a lot about how to do different computer things, so I see this as a chance for me to help you. We're all in this together. Please come visit my page someday. I'd love to see you.
