Kat, thank you for your question re the fires. We consider ourselves very lucky to say we were physically untouched, but all of Melbourne was touched emotionally. We were within 15km of the Bunyip fire and were at the mercy of the wind direction. Cockatoo was burned out in the Ash Wednesday fires of '83, so I guess this time we were spared.
We are about an hour East of Melbourne in the Dandenong Ranges and Leongatha is about 1 1/2 hrs SSE of Cockatoo. Hope that helps with where we are.
