Happy Birthday Sully! It's still before midnight here so I guess I'm still on time.
I agree that the good Lord was watching over me when I hit Ice and spun out today. Mike was following behind me and started to spin out there, too, just at the end of a bridge that crosses a small river. Later he told me that he had a dream last night that I was walking in a field that was flooding and fell into a hole and drowned. And SaraLyn, my daughter, said she also had a dream that I drowned. Well.....I didn't!!!Strange!

Love the new photo. We get sculling here on the river Dordogne but I never seem to have my camera when I see them.
Hope you celebrated well but wisely yesterday.
Is your weather too bad for outdoor activities yet? I may have to resort to a gym ours is doing a special short term membvership at the moment. The last time I was there it was full of grunting big weight lifting types - sort of put me off!

Mamacita - thanks for your thoughts and prayers. That is certainly 'doing something' - it means a lot to me. We are hanging in there, and something will work out.
I hope that your family's health is improving - I have thought of you two.

Thank you for your concern re the weather. Where we live has been very lucky. In fact I got in 18 holes of golf before the rain started yesterday. It is raining now and I must think about walking with Houpette.
I woke early and am sitting here with a clay face mask on as I have decided that spending extra time caring for my skin should be part of my new lifestyle. Just hope nobody comes to the door during next 15 minutes!!!

Another inch Mamacita, congratulations. Be careful though or you'll have that lovely Sully chasing after you to put his arm round your thin waist!! Or maybe thats how your getting the exercise!!! Or do you give up easily and let him catch you?
Well done either way.

Mamacita: Thank you so much for stopping by my Flickr page and for your wonderful words. Photography has been my stress-buster for many years. When I used film, it was just as expensive as going to a psychiatrist - without the side effects of the pills.
Now, thanks to the new age of digital photos, I can afford to take hundreds of shots without going totally broke.
Someone - long ago - told me I would be a starving artist if I dedicated myself to my passion. I guess I listened too well.

Hi Everybody, Today has been very interesting for me. My weigh in results for Jan 22,07 are: loss of 2 lbs, for a total thus far of 51/2lbs in the three week period. I also lost an additional inch from the waist line for a total of 3 inches. My exercise was doing more for me than I thought, but the fat build-up was covering things. I am so happy with my progress. I also STILL have a half of a 3oz candy bar left. I plan on treating my self over the next two weeks and then not buying any more. Its not worth spoiling what I'm working so hard to bring under control.

Looking at the comment above, my total weight loss looks like it is 51.2 lbs, If I lose that much weight, especially in 3 weeks, I would be very ill. It is 5 1/2 lbs! Another interesting discovery is: the pictures that I post always look a little blurry to me, but if you right click on the mouse and select 'view originals on pages' the picture clears up nicely. My favorite discovery is the continued kind support from all who visit my page....Thanks is all I can say, other than I appreciate you very much.

I only managed 6289 steps today as we had freezing rain all day and now it is snowing. Also Houpette my dog appears unwell. If no better in the morning we'll be off to the vet. She just wants to sleep.

I am so glad you are interested in Israel. There are many interesting fact and stories about her and I will be glad to share them with you. About politics I like to discuss and argue if neccessary, but I prefer to do it face to face. It is very hard to discuss this topic over the internet . During the last war in Israel I saw a few comments on our sudoku site , but the comments were made by people who only watched TV or heard the news ,( later it was proven that a very great amount of photos were faked ) but didnt have a deeper understanding of the situation. I didnt reply because I think the site is not for this kind of discussions. However ,during the war I kept informing my friends abroad about the situation through e-mails. I will be very happy to answer any question you may have about any aspect of our life here in Israel, including political issues - anything that interests you - I will gladly answer.

Hi,
I got the topics you are interested in - I hope I understand what the questions are.The issue with Carter's book is not ' hot ' issue here . Whereas about the Ethiopian jews, there are many aspects of the problem and I will like to tell you about them.I will ask Kathy for your e-mail when she gets home . Just as a quick remark - a couple of days ago there was an interview on the Israeli TV with an African American pastor. He said that he was deeply insulted and felt bad when a parallel was made between Israel and Apartheid. He even explained why : In South Africa for instance the black majority was not a threat for the white people and the Apartheid laws were made out of pure racism . Here - if we want to separate from the palestinians is not because we think that we are better, but because part of them are a threat on Israel's very existence - it's a life and death situation. I am sure you heard of all the terror attacks on civilians. There were times when I had to think twice whether to go out of the house or not , or to travel on a bus or not. I dont know if this is the issue you are interested in . Let me know if I got you right.
Have a great week end !

i/30/07- weigh-in today was not as bad as I thought it would be since I went overboard on food and drink this past weekend. I ended up losing 1/2 lb. totals loss for the month...6 lbs and 3 inches from my waist. If i continue at this rate, I'll be able to reach my goal lose of 20-25 lbs by May. That will allow me to celebrate my birthday slimmer and heathier.

Hi again. Thank you for the comment you left on my page, but you flatter me too much. I just believe it's nice to pop in on friends (even virtual ones) every once in a while and see how things are. Contact is important in this electronic age. We are all becoming too insular, so a friendly hello never hurts. Take care!

Mamacita, thank you so much for the very warm welcome. One thing about this site, it is very friendly...not only do I get to do my puzzles, but the chat here is great!
Thank you for the nice comments on the family. I'm very happy and very proud of my family.
I took the opportunity to look at your Flickr page...makes mine look so small. I enjoyed your pics. I especially loved the Grand Canyon pics. (I never been there). That glass bridge looks scary though! We have the same type of thing here in our CN Tower. A glass bottom looking down for what seems to be miles. YIKES!
Finally, congratulations on 50+ years of marriage.
Looking foward to chatting with you sometime.

Hello Mamacita 2 - Thanks for your visit. It is really cold here today and suppose to get colder. (High in the single digits tomorrow.) I am really sorry to hear about your friend. You never know, his health may turn around. It is all in 'God's Time'. I have an uncle who had a brain tumor removed about 31 years ago. The doctors gave him about 10 years to live. He is still with us today! Unfortunately, his younger brother has passed away with cancer. You just never know. Hang in there and you can always visit me. (I love visitors.) And......I am always good for a cup of hot something....... Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate.

Good luck with your weigh in today my weigh inwas very disappointing.
No loss, no gain. Everything the same.
Back to day 1 today after weekend of a little indulgence - champagne, red wine (but only a little)still no chocolate, sweets, sugar products. I did have a little cheese and 2 slices of ginger cake.
The main problem, Ithink, is just averaging 8000 steps a day and no golf due to weather conditions.
Must make a determined effort this week as
a) I took a good pair of trousers to be altered to new hip measurement, and
b) we are off to Spain next week in the camper and that will be a test.
One good point - I haven't smoked since New Years Eve

Today my weigh-in resulted in a 1/2 pound loss, but more importantly I lost 3 more inches from my waist. I told Sully that I was now seeing numbers on the scale and tape measure that I had never seen before. I hadn't seen them as I gained weight because the fat piled up so fast. Since I'm losing so slowly now, I get to celebrate and enjoy every ounce that drops from my body!!!I'm working very hard at the gym, but I have cheated a bit by enjoying a couple of rum cokes over the weekend, and I'm still traveling in the right direction......I'm so very happy with my progress! I'm on target to be a slimmer me by my birthday in May , and I can buy a nice new wardrobe for the warm weather!!!! Sully doesn't want to hear about the clothes shopping I'm planning.....hehehe...tooooo bad!

Well done, Mamacita. My Steve is with Sully on the new wardrobe of clothes front. But I bet Sully is enjoying putting his arms around the new slimmer waistline! I have started to rearrange my wardrobe into sizes - wearable now, getting there, and I'm sure I will get into these. It is amazing how many things I have kept from thinner days. Always living in hope, I suppose.

Mamacita, I was very moved by your story today about your lost daughter. She missed out on being raised by one heck of a lady, but she is being very well cared for. You'll see her in a few years, and I'd love to witness that reunion. Love you, Mama!
