Can miles truly separate you from friends. ... If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there?

Very tired, very sore. We had a lot of fun, but it could have been better. Red Hawk was OK, but Miss Kitty was too out of shape for a 3 hour trail ride in 99℉ / 37℃ temperatures. So was I. 2 1/2 hours into the adventure, Kitty decided that she'd had enough and laid down on the trail. It shocked Robert, who was riding her. So we unsaddled her and tied her up behind one of the wagons, and I climbed into the wagon. I let Robert ride Red Hawk the rest of the way. And somehow along the ride, I don't know how, I broke a finger. I have it splinted right now and I'm gonna take a pain pill.

My Goodness Heidi, just how did you break your finger? You sure it is set correctly? Need an X-ray to be safe? Hope the pain pill helps and you feel better soon.

I went to the library, and the grocery, just needed milk and ice cream and pickle relish. A few other things found their way into the buggy. Hubby wanted grilled chicken breast, and they were on sale, so that was added, He also wanted baked fish, and steamed zucchini. I think it was a mistake taking him with me hehehe, But the zucchini was on sale also, so a good deal. OH, for me, beef tips, to make either beef stew or curried beef and pineapple. Al might eat the stew, but no way on the curry.

I feel a nap coming on, will check back later.

I decided it's time to switch to a more appropriate avatar. I don't remember breaking the finger, but I suspect I know when it happened. I was on Hawk, and we were going down an embankment into a shallow stream. Hawk has a phobia about water in the ground. Instead of stepping down into the half inch deep water behind the rest of the horses, he leaped suddenly across the 8 foot wide stream and landed on a barbed wire fence. I was thrown off balance and got a nasty saddle horn shaped bruise on my inner thigh. I suspect I broke the finger at that time. (I DID stay on the horse). Hawk only got a shallow scratch on his leg from the barbed wire.

MizT... I've broken so many bones that I can tell that it's broken.... but only a hairline fracture. No displacement or extreme swelling associated with a displaced fracture. Some swelling, massive discoloration, lots of pain and can't move the finger. For a change, it's the ring finger on the right hand. I usually break the middle finger in that hand (3 times now) and it looks like I'm flipping people the bird when it's splinted.

Mitchell broke that finger on his left hand when he was about 9. He thought it was the funniest thing.

Morning all,
Before I forget I want to post a saying one of my friends put on FB that I thought would tickle Heidi's funnybone based on what she is going through..

Going to church doesn't make you a christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Remind you of anyone?

Theresa, I don't know how you manage not driving! I seem to live in the car. Not that I enjoy it, but it's life...

Heidi, according to my trusty computer clock it is Saturday evening in your neck of the woods. How was the trail ride? Did Robert end up going? How is your ear? Okay, now I'm over the page and see you have broken another bone! Not good, but not out of character either... Feel better!!

MizT, I've written down the recipe again, but none of the mixes I have in the cupboard seem to be enough for layer cakes so I'll have to search one out. I actually can't remember seeing them here like I did in the states, might have to go with 2 packets!

Gail, those outside enclosures also keep the birds and lizards safe, well the birds at least. No guarantees that a lizard won't get into them. I hope your hubby has the cold that has a quick recovery and not some exotic one!!!

Tami, I always got good service at Denny's, but I was always there with the kids, not to relax. You've brought back a funny memory. When I was growing up if we asked what was for dinner, Mum always said poo sandwiches. Hubby always said booger sandwiches. One time we were at Denny's and we asked the girls what they wanted. Alie piped up, in a very loud 2 year old voice 'Booger sandwiches!', tables all around us burst out laughing.

I want to try butter beer!!

I'm surprised by the summer work assigned to Mitchell. I don't think a school here would dare even try that!

Nola!!! Yay!! How's life?

Hi again.
It has taken me ages to finish reading about 5-6 pages. Life is OK.Maryborough hospital is Sub-acute,so I may find it difficult to get competencies signed off as they just don't have the facilities. Anything serious is sent to Harvey Bay or Bundaberg hospitals. I have had lots of practice at injections and meds but that is all.
Greg is ok.Still no word about the specialist appointment.
Going to see the kids and grandies today at the the push bike track.Greg has bought a bike to get some exercise so now everyone goes along for some fun.
I will be on a late shift Mon,early Tues,so that I don't have to go back on Sunday night.
The lap top doesn't have internet connection down there,so I have missed you all.
Birthday was a non-event,I was asleep by 7pm all by myself in the nurses quarters.
My little dog hardly ate while I was away. She was so happy to see me,started running around and howling with her head in the air.So cute.

Suzy, Mitchell is in an the International Baccalaureate program. It is an intense four years. If all goes as planned, he will graduate with 2 high school diplomas. One from his school, and one IB. It is a hard program to get into.

http://www.ibo.org/

Here is a link about the program. Most of the classes are honors/advanced placement (AP). In an AP class, if you pass and pass the test at the end, you get college credit. He will graduate HS with enough credits to be considered a sophomore in university. He has his first AP class when school starts.

No wonder you wee deaf Heidi!

Tami, I checked out the site and it is huge AND in Australia, though I'd never heard of it here. I think it started here when I was in Year 9. If either of my girls were bright enough to get into it, neither would be willing to work that hard! Good for Mitchell! With that kind of work ethic he will go far!

Warning: swearing..
I have 4 loads on the line and another going in the swishy thing. Nothing like working followed by a couple of days of rain to help you get behind. I've also folded a couple of loads that I did manage to get dry on our undercover line. An exciting day??

I found out through facebook that Alie has another gig. This one is for Youth Alive NSW and is being held at one of the local private schools. Not too impressed about the way I found out!

Hello everyone. :)

Well, just went to help Rob move a branch that had fallen over the fence when he cut it off - he ended up with a long cut down his arm, and I ended up nearly knocking myself out! Yes, we are not very co-ordinated - blood everywhere, but we're both ok, I think! But ... ow!! it hurts ...

Anyway, we're going to look at things on sale, then maybe go to see the new Pirates of Caribbean movie - don't know if it's any good, but we're not picky at the moment! :D

Broni, definitely transportation, so far managing to avoid the roadie gig - my car is too small..

Julie, my niece loved the new Pirates movie, but she has been obsessed with Johnnie Depp since she was 12 so might be a bit biased.

Nola, what are you going to do if you can't get signed off on all your competencies? Not another work experience??

The bike riding sounds like fun, hope you are having a great day.

Bummer about your birthday, hope your family did something for you when you got home! Also a bummer about your internet connection!!

Hubby went into Alie's laptop and used parental controls to block the internet yesterday. He also set up that she can't use it past 10pm or before 7am. Hopefully she will get some more sleep now. Her singing teacher is entering her in the next Eisteddfod, she is worrying about Alie pulling herself back singing in a group and what it might do to her confidence. I just like to hear her practicing the big songs that challenge her voice!

Hi all. Just had to wash my car today, we are taking it tomorrow to see what we would get for it as a trade-in. After months of ummins and aahing about what sort of car to get, I think we have both finally opted for a 4wheel drive. I know I never said I would, but with the roads around here it is entirely more practical than the sporty numbers hubby and I were thinking about. Plus, it seems if you can't beat them, join them, every man, woman and their dog around here drives a 4x4!

Hope you get a good price on your car Gail.
We are selling our 15yr old Lexus sport (and eventually our Volvo estate) today, it is up on EBay auction finishes today. We are looking to get a Volvo C70 convertible to replace them. Having sold the caravan we no longer need a car for towing. We still have the little run around we got in November last year.

I just re-read that you had washed your car Gail. I think our cars know something is up when they get a good wash and valeting. We are very lax in keeping our cars in pristine condition.

Had a lovely lunch for MIL's birthday (97 yesterday). 'Friend' came and did seem a bit brighter than yesterday. I did not sleep much last night so have had an hour or so since we came home. Might take a pill tonight as she has a couple of appointments I have to take her to tomorrow.

June, sounds like a lovely lunch I hope you get a good night's sleep! I am sending 'hubby doesn't want to listen to the radio tonight' vibes...

Brenda, good luck with the car sales and the rest of it. I hope you got the price you wanted!

Gail, ditto for your trade in quote!

Drama here, one of the girls in Forever Archie tends to not think before she acts, which is why I found out they had a confirmed gig before Alie did. Well tonight she posted a sale price on their CDs lower than the price agreed by them all. Alie is not impressed, nor is the other girl! Would love to be a fly on the wall tomorrow at school!!
