Morning all,
You are close to a saint Theresa. There is no way I would volunteer to stay with two people as selfish and pigheaded as your in-laws have become, not even to help SisIL. You will be treated like crap and spend most of your time beating your head against a brick wall. I'm waaay too selfish to put up with that from anyone except my hubby and kids. I was doing a lot for my FIL when I quit work to stay home with Dana. One day he accused me of stealing from him (I was paying his bills for him) - I handed back all of his paperwork and said 'do it yourself'. I lifted his wheelchair into the boot of my car when I was 5 months pregnant and hurt myself - stomach pains and cramps. I went home and told hubby that he and his brother were going to have to deal with FIL's appointments from then on. Selfish to the core, that's me.

The Afternoon Tea on Saturday, went very well. Nice to catch up the Albany Family mid year rather than end/beginning Year.
The litte baby is 3 1/2 months old now,( he was born 10th March, 3 weeks early, weigh 1.375kg). He is now weigh 3 kg.. He is tiny, but so gorgeous, smiles galore.

Suzy, I know this is going to be hard on me ... I know there will probably be many nights when I go to bed in tears. I also know for a fact that if they are forced into a facility, they will never again speak to my hubby or his sister, and that's something they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. That would be a terrible guilt trip. If I spend a few days with them, hopefully it will be a help for people's emotional security in the future. Frankly speaking, the in-laws are both verrrry fragile looking and probably do not have many years left (months???).

You are a saint Theresa - you're probably only delaying the inevitable. Putting parents into care always comes with a guilt trip - they instil it into their kids from birth! But, for their own wellbeing, in most cases that's where they need to be.
My father made it clear he never wanted to be in care but he had to go after his dementia made him violent with Mum, something he'd never been. Mum, on the other hand, always told us to put her in if it became necessary. Even though she didn't like it at the time, we knew that's what she'd instructed us to do. I've told my family the same. I've seen what a burden it is on families.

Good Evening, Everyone! I hope to have time to start catching up tomorrow, but wanted to share a joke I heard this weekend:

MARRIAGE SEMINAR

While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other."

He addressed the man, "Can you describe your wife's favorite flower?"

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's Pillsbury, isn't it?"

The rest of the story gets rather ugly so I'll stop right here.

Suzy - my Dad didn't accuse his kids of anything but was always accusing Mum of stealing, cheating etc. And the Blue Care helpers that came to give Mum respite or to clean the house were always being accused of theft by him. It was so embarrassing for Mum.

School holidays this week and next and I have Hayley and Chloe tonight and tomorrow and the same next week. Can't believe I'm sayin this but we're meeting a friend and her 3yo at Golden Arches for lunch tomorrow. I do try to avoid that place. The things you do for your grandies.

Greetings friends. Teresa, glad the wedding went well, and how kind of you to offer to help with your in-laws. I am glad hubby was touched, recognized the sacrifice you would be making.

Cute story about your grandie. She had the right idea, taking care of Gramma.

Heidi, I do hope Hollie has a better night tonight, so you do also.

I was sitt8ing reading this afternoon, and felt so sleepy I cound not shake it. I got a light lunch, thought I could just ignore the sleepies, nope, they were not to be ignored. I took a 3 1/2 hour nap, getting as good as Heidi with the long naps! Al said we had a thunder storm come by, rained buckets for about 45 minutes, even some lightning. I never heard a sound, now that is sleeping! I roused a bit, looked at the clock, which said 6:30, and I thought, too early to get up. Then I saw my computer was on, and thought, I do not leave my computer on at night, what's up? THEN I remembered I had laid down for a nap, that is how soundly I was sleep, could not get awake. One of thous times when I did not know who I was, or where I was when my eyes opened. Ever happen to you?

I am later getting to bed tonight, but I am as sleepy again. Fingers not cooperating, so I should close down for the night. Hope I know who I am when I wake in the morning hehehe.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

You probably needed the sleep, Tricia. But I do know that feeling of having too long a nap in the daytime and waking up disoriented. I often find, I wake up really cranky too. If I have a Nanny nap, I try to make it less than 30 mins but, if your body wants more and there's no-one to wake you up.............

That has happened to me MizT, only after sleeping in the daytime like you, very disorienting! Sleep well tonight!

Cyn, my FIL had no form of dementia when he accused me!

And I will confess, just so you don't feel guilty, I loved taking Dana to golden arches, all fenced so I didn't have to worry about her taking off, and endless supplies of coffee - that was in the US with free refills!

I have always hated having naps, I find it takes way too long to get moving again, and it's usually dinner time for the masses when I wake up, and no one else thinks to cook on those days...

I seem to have missed a few happenings lately.
Congratulations Nola we knew you could do it.Sorry to hear about your sisters health problem again.
June so pleased that your friend is getting some 'quality' time with the family especially her daughter who will remember these special days. Hope your friend is still feeling comfortable.
Rolanda, do you really think the caravan will be big enough?

Gail how is te new car going? Have you worked out how to keep your hair neat whilst driving topless
(innocent]

I have never been a nap person, until recently. Now if I sit too long in the lounge on an afternoon I can feel myself falling asleep.

Brenda, one of the brackets is wrong! Car is wonderful, though we may not be able to afford to keep it because sooner or later we are going to start incurring speed tickets! Hubby overtook someone today and in the blink of an eye he was doing 140km/hour! Very rapidly that came down to the legal limit with lots of school boy giggling going on from the driver's seat!
It has been too bl**dy cold to have the top down lately, though we did do it a few days ago, but hubby put the windows down too and that's when it gets blowy and cold.

I know what you mean about cars being too easy to speed in. The Lexus we have just sold is one such car. It was so quiet and smooth that you didn't realise that the speed had reached over 100mph, fortunately this only happened on motorways and we were never caught. Top speeds here on motorways is 70mph.

My hubby is the biggest offender for speed, but I will put my hands up too. I never speed in 30/40mph limits, but on motorways have been known to be very heavy footed. I have never ever been stopped by the police in my 39 years of driving and have only had 2 accidents one of which I was at fault and was only a minor bump. The second one someone went through a red light and hit me side on.

Hi everyone!
Speeding ... our new car has a thing where you set a speed and take your foot off the accelerator, and the car just goes along at that speed ... only good for the freeway and for long trips, but Rob loves it. It makes me nervous - I must be a control freak!

Warming up yesterday's left-over (homemade) pizza, and while waiting I had a snack of some raw carrot (of course), then decided to have some raw celery, bought at the local market the other day. Well, it's celery, what can you say, but ... this was delicious! It was crunchy, of course, but it was also sweet, and just plain yummy! I told Rob, and he had to try it ... then he wanted more ... he ate most of my celery, the cad! ;D

Morning everyone. Woke up to a lot to read, just don't remember most of it.
Viv, good to see you. Hope all is going well with you.
Tricia, you needed that nap. I never was a napper, even as a baby. I gave up naps at 15 months old. My mom was not happy. I am just starting to enjoy an occasional nap, usually in front of the tv.
For those of you with parent problems, I am not looking forward to that. I am thankful that my parents are still able to take care of themselves.

Judy we have that (cruise control) on our big cars too, very rarely do we use it,but it does come in handy on really long journeys when cramp starts to set in.
Just going to make some chicken and sweetcorn soup. Though it is too hot really to be cooking 27c at the moment.

I also have cruise control on my minivan. I don't use it often. I do use it on highways as I also have a lead foot and it helps me prevent tickets.

But I have gotten better over the years. Having kids made me pay more attention. Also, Mitchell wants to get his learners permit in December and I need to set a good example.

When did I grow up? I am not supposed to have a child starting high school and almost old enough to drive.
