Paraphrasing something I read the other day -

I wish I was a glow worm
cause then I'd never be glum.
How could you be glum
when the sun shines out your bum?

Hubby went to the specialist about his shoulder last Friday. It appears that he has torn his rotor cuff again. Apparently up to 25% re-tear but not all of them with pain. Of course his is painful. He has gone for an MRI today and will be back to the specialist on 15th.
He's quite happy as he has taken 3 weeks off work.

Have been with friend today.
Had a lot of pressure in the chest this morning but was much brighter when I left. We spent some time sorting clothes that are now too small so will take then to the Op shop or rag collection. I have brought them home and also have blankets, towels etc from Leah so will have to find time to clear away.
Tonight we have a 'Christmas in July' night at the Bowling Club. It should be great.
Rolanda, with Skype, phone, planes etc it will be very easy to keep in contact with your son. The day I got married I left home for a new life in Melbourne (from Sydney). I also had a daughter who went to Germany to get married and live there.(Divorced and back in Sydney with her horses). i do understand how you are feeling.

((hugs)) Rolanda. I want to know how you got them to leave. All mine are still here. Though I have to admit that the cost of property to rent or buy is prohibitive here for first timers.

Big hugs to all who need them, especially June!
Not forgetting Rolanda - it certainly is easier when they just move a few suburbs away rather than a few states or in June's daughter's case across the other side of the world. You will get used to it - you really will!

Eldest daughter has looked at moving out. I went with her to look at flats she could afford. I left the decision up to her but to be honest I was pleased she decided not to go. Those flats were to say the least small and unpleasant.
There was a headline in a newspaper yesterday, granted it was a London paper, about how there were plenty of houses/flats on the market but the price of them were mostly in the £1m+ bracket.

Morning all.

Our daughter moved out at 19 - much too early. I sometimes had a hard time when I would walk past her bedroom and see it virtually empty. But since she was still a teenager (in every way) when she moved out, it was also a relief to not have to deal with the teenage attitude all the time. I guess you could say it was a mixed blessing.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Rolanda, just remember you did a good job raising him and it is time for him to make his way in the world. Also, remind me of this in a few years when I have a melt down because son 1 is going to college.

Theresa, Happy Canada Day.

Victoria, like the little poem at the topp. Good to see you back and posting. Hope hubby's shoulder is better. My FIL also tore his rotator cuff and had to have surgery. It looks like he will have a 2nd surgery next week.

I'm not worried about the quality of work due to the empty beer cans. It just means that they needed to un-stress. Working under tight crawl spaces isn't fun. I did tease them a little this morning about the beer cans (partying instead of working) but it's obvious that they've been hard at work and are doing a good job.

((((( HUGS ))))) to June and family. Christmas in July sounds like the way to go. Especially since we topsiders consider Christmas to be in Winter.

I just did my good deed for the day. I got a frantic call from the head of our Collie Rescue group. There was a male collie at the Bardstown Animal Shelter, and he was scheduled to be euthanized today. I just dashed up there and picked him up. He's about 10 months old, skinny, but sweet. He reminds me of Lucky. And since he was found in the same neighborhood Lucky was found in, he may be related. He'll probably go to stay with our fearless leader next week.

Happy Canada To our Canadian ladies, Teresa and Rena, and to any who may like to lurk... Have a great time celebrating!

I'm in a very reflective mood today...tomorrow marks the third anniversary of my becoming a widow....and it SUCKS!!! I have promised myself that I'll just have a very short pity party and then move forward to the memories, good ones that allow me to hold Sully close and the bad ones when I thought he was a PIA....just so I don't raise him up to sainthood...He was a darn good man and I will always love and miss him...but he was NO Saint...LOL...
I do believe Broni may also be on my wave link...J.T's anniversary in close to Sully's date, so she is most likely experiencing her blahs too...Hugs and a lifted glass my friend if you read this.

Daughter Joy had some very sad news last night. Let me see if I can explain this relationship. Brenda might understand the difficulty.

Joy's Step father's second wife died yesterday. J still considered Joy his daughter (as I do) after he and Joy's Mom divorced. When he remarried, His wife P considered Joy as a daughter of her heart also.

Joy has said how fortunate she has been to have so many parental figures looking after her, teaching her, taking an interest in all she does.

Yesterday morning, P died in a tragic accident. Authorities believe she had a heart attack while swimming, and drowned. If you have a moment, please send prayers, good thoughts and wishes for Joy and those who loved P as family.

Mama.... I wish I could trade with you..... I think we'd both be happier if I was the widow, not you.
I didn't last long stacking hay on the wagons. I lasted thru' 100 bales and then gave out from exhaustion. I made it back to the house and slept for 3 hours. I HATE chronic fatigue syndrome. I don't like not being able to do my share of the work.

I'm sorry to hear of the tragedy in Joy's life. It's wonderful that she had such loving parental figures. She was blessed to have both you and P who thought of her as a daughter. The only good thing about this is it sounds like P did not suffer. It sounds quick.

Tami.... I was asked to pick up this big puppy for eventual transport down to the home of our fearless leader. He has obviously been abused and is afraid of people, but part of him wants to make friends. It'll take awhile to win his confidence. It will also take awhile to get some weight on him. He's skin and bones. Obviously, nobody knows his name since he was dumped, so I need to call him something. Since we're working with Timothy hay today, I'm thinking of calling him Timothy.

How about Timmy for short. Wasn't Lassie a collie, and Timmy his "boy"?
