There will be no visitation or funeral for my neighbor. He was cremated yesterday, and the family had a family-only memorial service this morning.

Morning all,
I started typing on the last page and lost it all when I came back to refresh my memory... dumb... grrr..

Theresa, a good watering will fix the plants for weeding! Hope for rain.

Heidi, couldn't have said it better myself.

Tami, that is hilarious! On the floor?! What was she thinking? And then, after drawing such obvious attention to herself, she shoplifts! Not much up top, I'm thinking.

June and Cyn, more thoughts and hugs

June, I loved reading the eulogies. I know I heard them, but reading it again reinforced everything. A huge loss to the world... more hugs

June, I also enjoyed the eulogies. I wish I had the chance to meet Sharon. She seems like a special person and made the world better just by being in it.

Morning everyone.
Lovely sunny day here but only 13c at the moment.
Bad day today with my back.
The doctor will not let me have the cortisone injection, she said it will not help me.
So for now just have to continue with medications which so far have done nothing to help the pain.
June, thank you for sending the eulogies but for some reason my computer cannot open them.
I must investigate further as to why they wont open.

Hot here, not much time (or energy) to read, Sorry!!
Know that things are fine, unless TTT or I tell you otherwise(she has my permission to tell you if necessary). Looking forward to Florida in October for my 50th! It'll be here VERY quickly.
Not much on the house. Have only had 3 showings since January. Good thing we have a year or so to go. That's all for now. Take care all.

Poor Viv. Are you sure that they can't at least get you into a Pain Management clinic? They can control pain in other ways than the epidural pain blocks. Mine is controlled with the shots as well as 3 different meds and exercises.

My youngest niece is now living in Camden in London. She told me that her boyfriend is walking her to and from work but they live about 15 minutes from the High street and feel they are quite safe, plus there are lots of police around. It was good to hear from her.

We are going to a Vietnamese restaurant tonight to celebrate Aki's birthday. I didn't know what to buy her so it's money in a card and let her chose her own present. Last year we bought her Ugg boots but you only need one pair of them.

I am on holidays starting today and Greg & I were going to Brisbane to the EKKA tomorrow.
We now have an appointment for Greg to see the surgeon for his cyst on the brain tomorrow. The last letter said they would give us 4 weeks notice of the appoint but maybe they had a cancellation because they rang on Mon to come Thursday. I hope they say they will just leave it alone.
Will go to the EKKA Fri now.
We will be staying on the Gold Coast for a few days at my other sisters place.
Catch you when I get back.

Just realised that I haven't posted all day - I have been reading but I've now forgotten everything.
Excited for Heidi to be picking up Whimsey - such a wonderful name!
Mum was a little worse today but, I suppose to be expected, just because she responded well initially to the new medication doesn't mean that it will stop the inevitable. Don't think it's imminent just yet though.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Hubby took me and the boys out for breakfast to a local place that is cheap. Went last week with friends and liked it, not so impressed today.

Have read the posts but don't remember much.

Heidi, safe travels to get Whimsey.

Everyone else, I hope you all have a wonderful pain-free, craving-free, trouble-free day.

Viv, I could not open one of the eulogies either, it is a .DOCX file and needs a newer version of Microsoft word than I have. One came as a regular word doc file, .DOC file and I could open that. I fould on the computer there are shareware programs that will convert DOCX files to DOC files that can be opened by older word programs.

the booklet was in a PDF file, and you need acrobat reader to open that one, or some other PDF reader. I could open that one. Hope this helps.

June, the photo of Sharon is beautiful, but it was the quote from Laura that had the tears streaming! So sweet.

Heidi, hope you have a good safe trip to get Whimsey. I misunderstood, I thought she was being delivered to you. I watched the video, she is soo pretty and moves so gracefully.

Nola, hope Greg's appointment goes well. Advance notice, four days, four weeks, not much difference hehehe. Enjoy your holiday.

Theresa, is this day 10? Hope today is better than last night. Just remember, one day in the near future, as you go to bed, you will realize you did not have one craving all day. What a day to look forward too! You can do it, hang in there.

Victoria, happy to hear that your niece is OK and has contacted family. Those riots are scarry.

Hugs to each of you with extras.

MizT, yes, it's day 10!!! Thank you all so much for the suggestions and encouragement - it's helping me keep on track.

I just realized that it has been well over a month since I put my application in to the Salvation Army for volunteer work. Last I heard the volunteer coordinator had quit and had not been replaced as yet. You would think the person running the place would know what to do!!!! They keep posting ads in the local paper saying how they desperately need volunteers. It would be nice if they could get their act together. I hope to be looking for a part-time job in October, but I wanted to volunteer for the summer - those are the months they really need help because volunteers are on holidays, etc. Oh well, I tried.

Al's doc appointment yesterday did not give us answers to his increasing tired and weak. His blood counts were fine. I am glad they were fine, but wish we had more answers. She did have me increase his iron to twice daily, and they will check that again in 6 weeks.

the neck in another question. On his first PET scan, there was a lymph node in that area of his cervical spine that has a few cancer cells. there were none on the last PET scan, so she cannot say if cancer has returned there or if he really just has a crick in his neck. He is now OKed to go to chiropractor, but must tell him about the previous lymph node involvement.

She gave him a prescription for liquid pain medication. If it is not too expensive, will be easier than crushing pills and she thinks perhaps it will be absorbed better. He is doing fine with the crushed, dissolved pills, not sure why she wanted to change it. He was too tired to want to stop at pharmacy yesterday. I did get to stop at Walmart, it is on the way and saved a trip. He "rested" in car with eyes closed and hat over face while I shopped. At walmart, I save over $1 each canister of his powder for his formula, and over 50 cents a gallon on milk. since I buy 6 canisters at a time, it really adds up.

One of the staff suggested i start on computer to contact each of the manufactures of the OTC medications and tube feeding necessities, including the ready to serve Insure or Boost. In the past she knows that patients have got items given to them. So far I have only got offers of coupons for cents off on the formula and dry milk from Carnation, but every little bit helps!

Hello all... I have read but have been busy getting things done around here, and am so sleepy right now that all of my reading has gone for naught....
June, what a wonderful legacy Sharon leaves for all of you, especially Laura. She indeed has left the world better than it was when she was born into it...and much that she did was due to you and Ken setting the bar high. I do thank you so much for taking the time to share the memories of others in the tributes with so many of us. i do hope you are finally able to have a little time for your self.
Cyn... Glad your mum has shown enough improvement to help you and others come to face the end in a more accepting manner, knowing she will be in a better place.
Rolanda, hope you and Suzanne will soon sell your homes, and can start living normally again...hard to do that in a house that must be show ready all of the time. Hope your Auntie is contented and pain free as she approaches her reward.
V.V, and any others who are in pain, pray that relief can be found. Theresa, great going...we are so proud of you!
Good to see Nola and others but have gone as far as I can...will return better rested hopefully..Make the best of what you have...Peace and hugs where and when needed.♥

I'm home safe and sound with my new filly Whimsey. She's settling down nicely. I, on the other hand, am tired. It was 554 miles (892 kilometers) round trip, but it took a little over 5 hours each way because of accidents on the road causing traffic to stop.

Poor Al and poor you, MizT. You need answers. "I don't know"s don't help fix anything. There must be a reason Al is feeling tired and weak. Let's hope it's minor and easily fixable.

Gekko all,
Dimmie strikes again! Something went wacko with my keyboard and 3 or 4 letters would only work if I capitalised them, and not if I used capslock. I tried cleaning the keyboards, even though it was strange that it was both the laptop keyboard and the full size one I have plugged into it. I went into the control panel - both working fine according to it. I ended up rebooting the computer and that fixed it. A new quirk found by the cat!! She considers the keyboards fun to walk over.

Tami, I think I like the Grateful Dead, but I can't remember any of their songs right now! Very depressing..

Nola, I'm glad Greg got an appointment, though the timing could have been better! I hope you get some answers and a doctor who cares.

Heidi, glad you got Whimsy safely and she is settling in okay. Now I have to go back to check it actually is a she!! Whimsy sounds female to me so I ass-u-me-d. Yep, she's a girl, but she's spelled Whimsey. My spell check doesn't like that though..

Rolanda, glad you got a clean bill of health at the dentist. I on the other hand have $486 worth of work that needs doing - all because I brush my teeth too hard..

MizT, Al's appointment was very unsatisfying. I think she should have either dug deeper or told you more of what she was thinking... I hope the iron pills help, though wouldn't the blood tests have confirmed that as a problem or ruled it out?? Your savings sound great. I hope you can get some free stuff sent to you too.

Viv, your appointment was disappointing too. Sorry, you just have to suffer???

Theresa, good for you!!!

Vicki, enjoy your dinner out! I'm glad you've been in touch with your niece and she's fine. The reports of muggings are awful!

I still haven't talked to Dana about the baby. I have a record going around in my head "You've been trying for 2 years to stuff up your life, now you go and find a way to do it good and proper. But did you have to take down a boy and a baby with you?"

Since I don't think that will have me seeing the baby at all, I have to get the record to change before I can contact her...
