Honestly Heidi, there you go, undoing all our best wishes to make this a bad epidural! :)

Well folks, not long home after a wonderful lunch with Lizzy, Kate, Bean, Judy and Rob, Jack, my hubby and Hannah, at a winery in the Yarra Valley that we have been as a group, quite a few times now. Broni, it's the one we went to when you were here.
Spring weather, good friends, fabulous foods and wines made on the property. Bliss ♥

Afternoon all,
Thank you for all the nice comments about Alie's voice. I have to admit to being surprised at the number of people who have commented on how much she has improved, but then I realised why. I have heard that voice in my home for a couple of years now, but this is the first time she's taken it out in public... she always holds back so she doesn't drown out the others, even if they are singing before or after her!

My mother was telling me that she shared the video on facebook so her friends could hear it. She went to visit one of them, for something unrelated, and when she got there her friend was playing one of the videos for her husband. The difference was she has huge speakers attached to her computer and Mum got to hear it better than she had been able to through her little built in computer speakers. She was duly impressed.

Alie has had a big day today. Her poor voice is almost completely gone. I talked to her on the way out and said 'no big songs, just regular ones'. Of course I'm halfway across the fair and hear her belting out 'rolling in the deep'!!

Now she is at her bf's house. His parents have apparently been pushing for him to make it 'official'. Weird, huh? He's a year older and a year ahead at school, so she gets to listen to the lecture again when she gets home...

My own life has of course been pretty boring. Who has time to have a life when your child does??

MizT, I'm going to be dropping in very regularly to hear if Al made it into a trial.. I have everything crossed, which makes it very hard to read... maybe I should at least uncross my eyes while I'm looking for good news.

Heidi, we told you and told you and told you!! You should listen to us!!! I hope a day of rest restores your back.

MizT, a pie here is usually a meat pie - good old Aussie staple! When I was a kid there was pretty much one variety, now you can get them curry, cheese and bacon, mexican (yep, believe it or not), potato on top, you name it... but most often still beef based.

Tami, congrats to Dylan! I hope he has a good team and not one of those 'college scholarships on every play' teams, then he can enjoy it even when they lose.

Rolanda, I hope you are all still partying with your friends!!

Suzy - I just heard they are doing auditions for a new YTT on channel 10. Would Alie be too old for that? I thought of her immediately. I thought of sharing the video on FB but since it actually had her name on it, I thought better of it. I wanted my sister to hear it but I will email the YouTube link to her.
MizT and Al - I hope and pray for some good news soon.
Heidi - take care of that back - your menagerie needs you.

June, did you post? I should go back to check. I was thinking about you and realised I hadn't seen you... doesn't mean you weren't there though, without Julie's summaries I sometimes think I'd miss most of the good stuff. Big hugs!!!

Hoping to hear from Lachlan tonight - his parents and sister have gone camping into the wilderness of Fraser Island so I am next cab off the rank. I guess if I don't hear it will be because he's having a great time and not feeling homesick. I'd love to hear how he's doing. He went to Universal Studios yesterday (they must have them everywhere) and today he went to another movie place where they make all the Samurai movies. I think he goes to Peace Park at Hiroshima on Tuesday.

Suzy, I didn't see June post here but she did on Easy during the night. Must have been sleepless. June, if you read this - you're always in my thoughts. We've not forgotten what you've been through.
Bug hugs to June, MizT and Al, Viv, Heidi, Broni and, well, everyone.
Gail - just saw some pics Beanie posted on FB including the car - woo hoo!

Hi, I am around but just been busy. Yesterday I had Laura and had to take to a birthday party at MacDonalds. A party for 6 year old boys (Jasper, Laura's boyfriend! They have know each other since babies)
Today Ken bowled. I took his Mother to where he was bowling and we had lunch and then a drive up to a spot overlooking the Hawkesbury River.
I am also trying to get all the 'Sincere Thanks' cards done. A big job. Also hard when people do not put addresses on the back of envelopes.

Hi everyone, looks like I haven't been here for a while, so hope you're all well.
Today we went to the Sudoku lunch at the winery - it couldn't have been a more beautiful day! Everyone was relaxed and happy, the sun was shining, it was warm, but not too warm ... Lovely!
Did some gardening later, planted all our new veggies in our new raised veggie-garden. What a nice way to spend a day. :)

Suzi, great you tube of Ali. Hope she wins the final.
I wish they would hurry and make a decision about Al. It worries me when I know he is just waiting. I like the idea of the chemo being injected into the tumor. I have heard about a few trials with that sort of thing.
Just got an Email finding out that the P&C at Sharon's school donated $200 to cancer research in her memory and will fund two awards for ICT (computer technology)-her subject, one to a senior and the other a junior. Also some lovely comments about the innovative computer work she did for the school. Putting it ahead of most other schools in the area.

Suzy, Dylan's coaches stress team work and learning the skills over winning. He is on a 9-11 year old team and is the biggest kid, even though he won't be 11 until November. The kids made some good plays and really tried. I don't care if they win or lose, I just want them to play fair and enjoy the game.

Greetings friends. Long rambling ME kind of post follows. You have been warned

Had a busy afternoon here. Friend Eddie came to take off trash, since sister and I filled bags and bags from the old office here in the house. We need to make that another bedroom, for visiting family to stay over and help out some. Al had the boxes still of games and computer parts bought before 2005 when he moved his office to the dome!! Needed them for the one year warranty you know, "will replace if returned in original packaging" thing. but 6 years?? OUT, out, out they went.

Dogs had tipped 2 trash cans, I think I mentioned that. Eddie filled his truck with trash, will take it to the dump Monday. Wonderful to have friends to help.

Did I tell you about the walker I asked my doc to order for me? The one with the seat and basket under, a rolling walker. I need it for the seat, leg and back pain can be sudden onset, and sitting NOW is the cure. They brought one out Friday, but will need the wide body one for me.

Joy came last night, did a bit of work on papers in the old office. We had dinner together, she and her dad played word games on the puter, she looked at changing the cannula on trac, said that was not so bad. she is very squeamish, but is learning. when I told her there were gloves to use, she said, OH good, I can do most anything if I have gloves. she uses gloves to pick up insects she had killed. Cannot stand bugs.

That was my Sunday. Joy left about 9, I got Al's feeding and medicines, and ready for sleep. I fell asleep in my recliner waiting for him to finish. woke at 1 am, straight to bed. Very tired, but better after a good night's sleep.

I did read, Rolanda, hope the picnic with friends was enjoyable. Seems Gail and company had a great time at the winery. Thanks to all wishing AL a place on a clinical trial. Perhaps we will hear back from the doc starting the one I call #3. She wanted to talk to his chemo doc, but she was out of office on Friday. Did get a prescription for him some ativan, an anti anxiety medication. he gets so very frustrated when I do not understand him or hear him. I can imagine how it must feel to be unable to communicate. We worked out a way he can use the TV?computer to type messages, but he has not used it. I think that would be admitting he cannot talk, and he is not ready to give that up. Lots of pantomime with funny results at times. But the medication seemed to help yesterday, frustration level down some.

Hugs to everyone, with extras. till later.

Tricia, big hugs going out to you. It is hard to be the caregiver. Make sure you take care of yourself while you are taking care of Al. You will be of no use to him if you let yourself get worn down. Come here and vent anytime you need to. We will always listen.

MizT.... my (favorite) aunt, with MS, uses walkers like that. Whoever invented them was a bloody genius. Their use gave her years of a better quality of life. I understand the sudden onset of debilitating back pain, since I have that too, but I can't use those walkers on pastures and fields. I'm SO glad you're getting one.

My hubby is taking full advantage of his broken finger. He just told Dylan he would have to help him get dressed next week for his game. (he thinks he is playing) He told Dylan that he would have to help him put on his athletic supporter. Dylan said "no way!!!"

Tami, if he broke that finger (his signalling finger), how can he drive????

Thinking of everyone.

I am sore today after walking so much at the fair yesterday. Girls were generally well behaved - no more kiddie rides for them. They had absolutely no fear.

Our car is at the garage - it needs a new muffler and exhaust system.

My Sister-in-law sent me a note about MIL - she is depressed and doesn't have the will to live any more. I have a feeling next weekend might be rough - I think I will need to go down with hubby. My big birthday is next weekend, it's only a few days after my procedure - I just wish the timing was better.

Gail - I like the note about the Etch-a-sketch on the other site - I think I am going to be using that one a lot!!!!!

Sorry folks, I haven't fully read all the comments yet. Hope to be back later.

Theresa, not only did he drive himself home, he is planning on playing softball next weekend. He can't field the ball but he thinks he can hit. Some boys do not grow up.

Hope all goes well with your procedure. What day is it being done?

Morning all,
June, you are busy! Though I suspect people may have left return addresses off on purpose - so you didn't have to write sincere thanks cards! I think Sharon would love the awards in her honour, in her field and in her memory, what better combination?! Ir's funny that Laura has a boyfriend. At 6 you know it is sweet and no lectures needed like Alie got last night.

Tami, I love the sound of Mitchell's team. There's more to learn from team work than winning in the real world. I hope hubby is not in too much pain. Big boys seem to hurt even more than little boys.

MizT, those walkers are wonderful! I see them everywhere here - in fact there was a second hand one for sale at the fair I went to yesterday. Heidi said it perfectly about quality of life. I'm glad the atavan is helping Al cope.

Rolanda, shame you had to move the bbq, but at least your house was already spotless and you didn't have to clean up for them. Hope you had a great time!

Judy, I wish I could get our veggie patch finished so I can plant. I have filled it some more, but still a long way to go. I put in paper and grass hoping that we will need less soil when it gets to that.

I just saw a news report that temps are reaching 40C today in SW Queensland. It's only September!! A sign of things to come?

I will have to go over to check out the photos of the get together! Always good to see old friends, even if it's only in a photo.

Wow Brenda! Big news from you! I wish you had said NSW, but I'll be happy for you anyway...

Cyn, did you hear from Lachie? If not it just means he was having a good time and got too busy!!

If I remember correctly (it was a very long time ago), kids had to leave YTT when they turned 16. Alie turned 15 at the end of June so they probably wouldn't be interested. One of her band mates has entered them in a band competition. They are apparently the only girl band entered. Boy will they stand out - and not because they are girls! The boys will all have electric guitars, drums, bass' etc etc and then there will be Forever Archie.... The prize money is huge! I only know that because they advertised the competition on the tele this morning.

Suzy, it is Dylan that is playing baseball right now. Mitchell is trying out for his high school team. He is hoping to make junior varsity. Hubby is in pain but prescription Motrin (ibuprofen) seems to help. The break is near the tip of the finger, which is a sensitive area.

Wishing all the luck to Alie and Forever Archie. I think we will be hearing about both of them in the future.
