HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Reposting my status from FB-

Even though we do not celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, I would like to say I am thankful for so many things. A loving husband (thank the gods), four incredibly independent and individual children, their beautiful partners and an extended family of which anyone would be proud. I am also very thankful for the people I have met through the internet, and those I have not yet met :)

Just made Alie an appointent at the doctor. After days of telling me it didn't hurt anymore, no lumps etc. She came home from school sick yesterday. Today she tells me the bite behind her ear is now a lump. I figure it's probably too late to do anything, but better safe than sorry.

I will Tami. I just went to have my shower so I could go and pick her up early, only hubby forgot to turn the water heater on this morning and I forgot to check that he had. At least an hour until I can de-stink now.

update? My life is much the same now for me, but the kids have grown up a lot! Jason, Son #1 now lives and works in our capital, Brisbane, as an IT professional and comes home twice a year. We fly down there twice a year too. Damon Son #2 has been working as an apprentice for almost 12 months, and Wendy is 16 and has one year of high school to go, and has 2 part time jobs. We're all well and survived a major cyclone and 2 floods earlier this year after some structural damage to our home. Nice to see you still here Heidi!

It's so good to see that MizT is back and using Al's computer. Seems like there was a conspiracy to keep you away from the internet, MizT!

June, I hope you had a great meet-up and lunch with Amelia and Vicki!

Theresa, I hope your MIL is doing better!

Suzy, the snow "avalanche" was amazing. That Mom held it together pretty well! "OH . . . MY . . . GOSH!!!" I'm not sure that the Mom was a neat freak, so much as overwhelmed, especially if she was not feeling well already.

Heidi, your Thanksgiving dinner sounds yummy. Unfortunately, it's too late for me to invite myself. It's now the day after Thanksgiving.

Greetings all!
Nice to see Susan post and give us an update.
Been Christmas shopping today - at least got the grandies covered. Adults to be bought yet but at least I feel I've got something done. It seems, sadly, each year I have to buy for fewer people.

Cyn,send Karin here to help me as I need to get started shopping. Even some ideas would be good. I really shouldn't take holidays this late in the year,it makes me forget about xmas. I had hoped that present ideas would come to me while I was in Florida but nothing did.
Suzy, Megan hasn't been that lucky for the tumour to be benign
Good to see you here Susan , you do seem to get a lot of rain in your part of Australia. I seem to remember a few floods in your area. Pleased to hear your family are doing well.

Brenda :((...

Christmas shopping used to be done by September in my house, but not anymore. Part of the problem is I have so many people to buy for. How did this happen??? My coffee buddies are part of the problem... We get together for dinner at Xmas and everyone brings something, only something small, but I still have to think of something!! Something times 6

Then we have Xmas dinner with friends and we take something there, again only something small, but I still have to think of something. Something times 10.

Then there's the pride people. Something times 6, but I'm going to combine some this year, couples get one thing. That still leaves me with 20 small, but fun (?) gifts to come up with.

The Sudoku 'girls' I get together with quite often, Liz, Kate, Judy and Bean, were meeting up around the time of our birthdays for a year or so. It was lovely to be special, made a fuss of with cards and pressies, and then at Christmas, we would exchange token gifts, often homemade sweeties. I asked to put a stop to it as of this Christmas gathering, with others coming, it was all starting to get out of hand. We all have enough to deal with, within our own family circles. Pleasure of their company is treasure enough ♥

Greretings friends. I have just a minutee I must wake Tanya, she has a flight back to ?CA today. I read a few pqges, the one about the flour on the sofas. Yep, just clean it up!
Thanksgiving was good, our menu was turkey, honey baked ham, mashed potatoes ( not usually on our menu and not much eaten) southern cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and cranberry relish. Deserts were pumpkin pie, pecan pie,red velvet cake, and apple cranberry cobbler. Half our meal came pre cooked cortesy of Hospice.

Time is up, must away, back later I hope. Hugs to each of you.

And big hugs to you, Tricia!
Suzy - I find that it's the thinking what to get worries me more than the expense. Especially those little gifts. When Karin finished High School she started having a party on Christmas Eve at our place for her friends (some of whom were Andrew's as well) - it started with about 10 of them and they bought me small gifts so I returned the gesture. The parties became a tradition and stayed at my place even after K got married. Of course some drifted away and others married and had children. Some years I was up for 20 or so small gifts. Gradually everyone has drifted away, even though they all remain friends. But this year, for the first year since 1989, I have no presents to buy - no party. I sort of feel sad, though! I loved those kids.

Back again. Boy I miss my spell check that is on my computer. On this one I get here differently, so it is not available. Just get a chuckle from my typos. Also, I have no avatars here. I had to create a new free account. the site would not recognize my password. OK, more than one way to skin a cat. see how much I missed you to jump through all those hoops to get here??

Joy tried repairing my computer, thought it was a power supply, brought one in from her dad's parts bin. It had a question mark on it, guess he did not know if it were good or not. when that did not cure the problem, she packed it up and is taking it to my nephew's house this weekend. she is going up for thier Iron Bowl Party. college football, the 2 big teams of the state, they always play Thanksgiving weekend. BIG rivalry. Bragging rights for the year. coaches get fired for loosing this game more than for having a loosing season. THAT big eheheh. I will probably go to neighbor's house for thier Iron Bowl party, was invited this week.

Thinking of small gifts is hard, Cyn. This year at my sister's we will give small gifts, limit to spend is $1. You can regift (no limit) shop at yard sales or thrift stores, or make gifts. I happen to have about 25 new caps Al never wore, all the guys will get a cap and a couple of the girls who would appreciate one. My sister said she would like the Aussie hat, camaflage, for birding. Easy enough. I can start wrapping today.

I want to get my tree up soon, today is the day I usually do that. somehow everyone left yesterday fore I got help bringing it in. I think it was my fault. I fell asleep in my chair.

OK, must move, this is NOT comfy. I shall return. Hugs to each of you with extras.

Remember that obsessive albino Budgie? I just looked in her nest box to see if any eggs had hatched yet. Much to my surprise, I saw 6 obese baby Budgies! I'm wondering if any will be albino like mom.I didn't want to bother them to look at colors. They're just getting their down now. Budgies are born nekkid.

Got my new tires. Old ones were bad. It wasn't something I could really put off. I did some price shopping and got a pretty good deal. Who knew that tire shops would have black friday specials also.

Gail, anything involving cars is the bane of our existence. I happen to live in an area with really bad public transportation. I have had my own car since I was 16.5 years old, paid for by me.

Tami which is worse, bad public transportation or non existent public transportation?? None here, not any at all.

Heidi, poor nekid little budgies. Is 6 a large number from one Mom? Glad she was at last happy with her nest. I lost patience before trying 5 or 6 times to sign in. HOPEFULLY soon I will have my own computer back, with my own personal keyboard. I keep hitting strange keys and going off on the most interesting tangents.

About as long as I can sit at this makeshift desk. I will see you again soon. Hugs to each of you.

I'm over stirring things up on the other page. An American post has been butchered to make Australians angry about non-white non-christians. What the Australian who butchered it didn't realise is that in America, Xmas, thanksgiving all of those days ARE called holidays. When you take time off work you go on vacation. And that's were happy holidays came from.

Six is a LOT for a first time mom Budgie. This little albino has an incredibly strong maternal instinct. I may put that pair back with the other Budgies once these babies are weaned. Dad hates being separated from the others.
