Tami.... I'd love to have you come up here. What else do I have to break to get you here?
Yesterday, cousin Barb flipped out over the puppies. She fell in love with the little male and was so disappointed that he's already sold. I told her that she'll be able to see him as often as she wants. He's been sold to a nice family that lives a couple of doors down from their farm here. They live in Cincinnati now, and spend most weekends here, but hope to move here permanently in 2 years.

Need to sit for a little while! What better place than at the computer!
It was a very wet morning so I decided to soak the fruit for the Christmas cakes. I have now got two cakes in the oven. I do not have Laura this weekend (she has gone to Canberra with her father). I know she would have enjoyed helping but she can help with the puddings. My back does not like me working in the kitchen so I may have to go and rest with a hot pack on it.

MizT, nice to know that you have a 'spare' computer to keep in touch with us all.
Heidi, you did say before that you sell the excess birds? Your albino does sound like a busy Mum.
Belinda's foal has septic arthritis. The shoulder is now OK but the infection has gone to the hocks in the other legs. The mother keeps taking out the tube for the antibiotic and the bandages around the foals legs. the foal is still feeding OK but Belinda is not sure if the foal will recover or not. The bill was well over the $1000 yesterday!

It sounds like a no-win situation, June. How long does one let the foal suffer before it has had enough? Was this started by an injury or joint ill? The problem is the longer the foal is ill, the less the chance, if it does win the fight, that it will ever be normal. I have found that I make the best decisions when I ignore my wants and only do what is in the best interests of the animal.

Greetings, Everyone! Just wondering . . . is Black Friday a world-wide phenomenon?

I still haven't figured out where my last post from last night went. I had even saved it before submitting, yet it completely disappeared. I was too exhausted to try to reproduce it last night, and now I have no idea what might have been included. I'm just going to jump in at a random point and hope I don't miss anything important.

The flour "avalanche" video, upon further analysis, is undoubtedly a fake - flour spread too evenly, completely, and too high for the little boys to have been a part of it. They must have been so confused that their mother was making a mess and encouraging them to take part in it. (Initially, my response had been to feel bad that the mom was sick and facing a big clean-up, but many of you pointed out obvious "problems" in the "authenticity" of the video.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers for Susan, Megan, and Megan's baby! Hopefully the "word of the day" will be BENIGN!

June, I can understand Belinda's choice not to opt for expensive exploratory surgery. Hopefully the foal will improve via the antibiotics regimen!

Thank you, Mama, for your wonderful way with words! You may have felt that it was rambling, but we all see our feelings being given wings with your words! Thank you!

Amelia, I'm so sorry you weren't able to go to the meet-up/luncheon with June and Vicki! I hope you are feeling better!

I hope June's computer is working faster, and MizT is able to stay on line!

Heading now to page 277.

I'll second Suzy's TOPP comment on page 277. Please send some rain to Western Australia and the southwest!

Suzy, I hope you were able to get Alie into the doctor and that there is nothing seriously wrong (esp. from the tic bite)!

Hi! It's nice to see you again, Susan! Thanks for the update on your family! So good to see that they are doing well, but sorry to hear about the cyclone and floods which caused structural damage to your house!

Cyn, good for you for getting a lot of the C shopping done! I have very little - just a few things for the grandies, but nothing for their parents or our recently married D and her hubby, though they will be moving next spring/summer and have suggested that a money gift could be put to good use. Not even any ideas for them or my hubby.

Brenda, just read your comment that the wonderful "benign" word is apparently not associated with Megan's diagnosis! So sorry to hear that! Redoubled positive thoughts, vibes and prayers being sent to Susan and Megan!

Ah, yes! The little gifts! Ordinarily, I would be looking for something for the members of "Breakfast Club." We were high school classmates who ended up moving across the state and being within about 20 miles of each other and meet every 4-6 weeks for breakfast. It started as the "girls;" but now the hubbies are retired and come along. This was the group that lost a very good friend the end of May, but her hubby has encouraged us to continue and joins us. Unfortunately, we won't be able to meet again until mid-January, so I have until then to come up with the little gifts.

I'm glad you're able to pop in, Tricia, even if you don't have spell check. I'm sorry the current arrangement isn't very comfortable. I hope something can be worked out - and soon! Continued warm thoughts and {{{HUGS}}} being sent your way!

Heidi, I chuckled about the obsessive/compulsive albino budgie and her six chubby babies. Please continue to keep us posted as their feathers come in.

Tami, so sorry your car needed new tires, but pleased that they were an item included in some of the Black Friday sales! I thought I had heard them advertised at Sears or somewhere.

Heidi, I think your post at the TOPP of this page is fine! It's talking about cute puppies and the good news that the little male will still essentially be in the area, even if he can't belong to cousin Barb.

June, I'm glad you're able to sit down at the computer when you take a break! If you need to use a hot pack, will you lie down and rest? Too bad you didn't have Laura's help today. I was wondering . . . will the foal be able to recover from the septic arthritis if its mother keeps removing the tube and bandages? Keeping fingers crossed, as Belinda already has a lot invested in the foal! I'm glad Heidi is able to understand more of what's involved than us "city" girls!

Pleasant dreams to all - those half-way to morning (Brenda), partly into their sleep time, and those who have several hours before thinking about going to bed! Please share the positive vibes and thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} with all who can benefit from them! Good Night, Everyone!

Hello all,
Was it Tami asked whether Black Friday sales were worldwide. Not here in Australia. We have the big Boxing Day Sales (26/12) and huge toy sales mid year - where toys can be laybyed for Christmas.
Wow - 6 baby budgies Heidi!
Suzy - I didn't repost that Xmas thing on FB. I have heard Americans say 'Happy Holidays' since the old Bing Crosby movies. Some of these things can be very inflammatory.
June - I want to make my Xmas cakes but keep forgetting to check ingredients before I go grocery shopping. Must do it this week or hubby will start to complain - the joy of his life is Xmas cake!!

Gosh, I hope my cheque for my Sudoku membership clears on Monday - every time I get into the site I get a reminder that it's due by 6/12. Posted the cheque on Tuesday. I can't access my PayPal - probably because it's so long since I dabbled on eBay (well spent up big more like), it must have been suspended.

Black Friday sales can't be big here because we don't celebrate thanksgiving or any similar holidays at this time of year. The boxing day sales don't really happen in this town. I keep hearing about great sales but they just don't happen here. We think it's because we're a tourist town.

Cyn, what annoyed me most about that post was that it was worded to deliberately cause hate and anger. Really really really hate that! lol

I've read, jumped in the middle to answer some, and I'm too super tired to think straight.

She did really well though. The talent quest showed people a whole new level of her voice. Tonight I saw a whole new level of performance. It was brilliant! And I didn't get the best of it on tape!!!

Heidi, the foal is drinking from the mother and while it is doing that Belinda is giving the antibiotics a chance to work.
My house smelt of Christmas cake and roast pork. Very welcoming.
I had typed this and more but it seems to have gone into cyberspace!!
Nearly finished my cards. Some shopping done but still quite a bit to do. I am not up to a lot of last minute shopping at Christmas time.
Have a great lunch tomorrow Cyn.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Cyn, I think it was Julie that asked about Black Friday. Black Friday got its name (or so I heard) as it was the one day a year stores could be assured that they would be "in the black." Accounting term: Positive balance goes in black ink, negative balance in red ink.

Good morning friends. I wake today to dull damp grey day, but not too cool at least. A tiny bit more comfy here this morning, I discovered I could open the drawer and put the keyboard over it, giving a few inches for my knees. NOT sitting spraddle legged and hurting the hips now.

I think the Black Friday sales are only USA, something our retailers invented to get up out and shopping. The name Black Friday originated cause if sales that day after thanksgiving are good, it pushes the stores " into the black". they claim to be functioning at a deficit and have this one last month to make a profit for the year.

June, yummy smells from your house. I love to smell roast pork, have not had that recently. Ham is just not the same.

BTW anyone want some sliced ham? I had much to much brought in for us to eat. I put part in freezer yesterday. Today I must slice and put the remainder. Hands did not hold up to the task yesterday. It was advertised as spiral sliced ham, but the machine malfunctioned, slices are almost an inch thick, and difficult to slice now.

I have wipers on both sides of windshield, thanks to friend Eddie. He found the part just where Al earlier had said it would be. tiny little plastic thingy, took an hour and half to install it. It will rain this week, so if I must go out I am all set now!

Suzy, I am glad I did not see that post. No need to encourage hate by passing it on. Did you say that Allie did brilliantly in the talent quest? congratulations Alie!

OK, all the back can tolerate, I need to get some things done for the football game today. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I didn't sleep well last night. Angel decided that she didn't want to be with her puppies last night, and instead spent the night sharing my pillow. I kept trying to encourage her to go to them, and she refused. I think she's ready to start the weaning process. We were already scheduled to start today.

The cows have been fed their hay thanks to cousin Don letting me use his tractor. I put out 6 large rolls, and spotted a newborn calf, a purebred bull calf. So it's a good day. Especially since I got to ridicule IH. We put steel hay rings around each roll to prevent the cows from mashing them down and using them as beds. The easiest way to move them and place them around the hay rolls is by using the front end loader of the tractor. Since IH's tractor, which hasn't run in 3 years, has no front end loader, it never occurs to IH to use a tractor to move the hay rings. He was looking for his gloves to use to pull the 8' diameter steel rings (which weigh a few hundred lbs.) out of the mud manually, stand them on end and then roll each one a few hundred feet over to the hay rolls!!! It's backbreaking work. It takes only seconds for the tractor to do it.

My shopping is finished too....I only buy for the little ones now....it became too expensive to try and buy for all. We often have a polyanna for the adults, but due to illness, expectant babies and bad economic times for some, that has been put on hold for this year. I stopped sending cards last year because of my hands and am not sending them this year either...special cards to family members are simply handed out rather than mailed and not a lot of writing to be done. I still decorate and cook to share so that makes my holiday special...would love to be able to do more but am happy to do what I do..everyone can't say that.
My foyer group was lots of fun...good food, good company , good music and good games..as well as great weather..a wonderful day.

By now our guest will be back home in Oz. He is an Australian Parasitologist named Phil Stein. He told us that one of his sons is a famous Decathlon athlete in Oz. Some of you may have heard of him. Phil didn't mention his first name.

Good Evening friends. A productive and fun day today here in Bama. I found the front, and the Christmas tree. Oh, the small table/box the tree goes on, Al made it for me a few years ago. The lights I put up today. Got the rest of the ham into the freezer, leaving out only a bit for eating now. I attended the Iron Bowl Party, University of Alabama won and remains ranked #2 in the nation.

I am somehow hitting keys that are erasing my entire post. Happened 3 times so far, I shall post this before I loose it totally. Hugs to each of you, till later.
