So will she ever go back, or stop talking? Either would be okay...

I had something scary happen last night. I have a light fixture in the kitchen that is covered by a glass dome. We replaced 2 of the bulbs the other day and I commented to hubby that I would like to get a new fixture. This is the original with the house that the builder put in. The glass had a crack in it but not too big. I am upstairs last night, boys were downstairs watching tv. I hear a crash and glass breaking. I run downstairs. The glass dome split and part of it fell to the floor. Most of it was still on the fixture. The broken glass blocked access to the garage where we keep our shoes. I went outside and used garage door opener to get in. Cleaned up mess with hubby and took down the rest of the glass. I am just glad no one was in the kitchen. I guess I will be looking for a new fixture sooner rather than later.

You keep your shoes in the garage?

We use the garage as the front door. We walk out the front door but tend to come in the garage door. We take our shoes off out there. We only keep sneakers and stuff like that. Our good shoes are in the closet. Since we usually wear sneakers or flip-flops, they tend to stay there.

Woke up this morning with a throbbing head, runny nose and sore throat, hope it doesn't last too long as we are hosting a new years eve party here on Saturday.
Pleased no one was hurt when the light fitting fell Tami.
Suzy you might have to ask Dana her intensions to find out if she is staying. Then maybe you could ask her to quit all the talking. BTW our chatter box stayed for 3 days over xmas, we were all pleased when she asked for a lift home.

Poor Brenda. It's no fun having the Lurgy, especially during the holidays.
We're getting a lot of work done. We picked up a dozen 6 inch diameter wooden posts, ten 16 foot cattle panels, thirty 50 pounds bags of quick setting concrete and a new post hole digger. We measured the distance we need to cover, and it's 360 feet. These supplies will cover the first 160 feet. We still have to buy more posts, cattle panels and staples, as well as a new 14 foot gate and a 6 foot gate. The goal is to have the fence completed by the end of next week.

Three posts are set in concrete so far, and 2 more holes are waiting for their posts and concrete. Tomorrow we'll put the auger on the tractor so the holes don't have to be dug manually. These did have to be manually dug because they were too close to the existing fence and the auger would have gotten tangled in 12 1/2 gauge wire. I'm doing some of the physical work simply because I won't be able to do anything for a long time after I have the surgery.

Heidi, please try to be careful. I understand why you are doing the work but I really don't want you to overdo it. I hope that IH will step up and do what he has to so that you can recover from surgery.

This fence has to be replaced by the end of next week. This is the one that these calves keep busting through. Unless there's a stronger fence there, I won't be able to sell all of the rest of the calves.
I had a surprise today. While feeding hay to the cows, I discovered a newborn calf.... a big bull calf! He was sound asleep so I was able to jump on him and tag him. He's been born a full month earlier than he should be!

Hey all - just have a few minutes to let you know I'm OK. Life is hectic. MIL is in a slow care facility for now so she can have some rehab. Starting next week I'll try and spend some time with FIL. D's surgery has left that leg one inch longer than the other and even orthotics won't work - she will have to get all her shoes custom made from now on until the next time she has this surgery. My sister has had a falling out with her DIL and now she and her hubby are no longer allowed to see their grand kids!!!!! Can anything else go wrong before this miserable year is over?

Afternoon all,
Missed morning by 10 minutes!

Theresa, when doctors do that bad a job one really wants to make them pay for the special shoes!!! Hopefully they made one leg shorter, not longer or she'll need all new pants too! Big hugs!!!

Heidi, I hope everything goes smoothly with the fence replacement and you don't hurt yourself anymore than you already have. Maybe Robert has a friend who can join in the helping??

Tami, at least you will get your new light fitting, though I can think of easier ways to go about it.

Suzy, I said I wanted to get a new light fixture, I wasn't planning on buying it yet. I don't know how long it will take me to buy a new one. For now, bare light bulbs will be fine. I am not a really fussy person.

Wow, Tami, glad no-one was there when the light broke!
Suzy - I guess it's better that she talks non-stop rather than not at all. But trying to read while someone is rabbiting on is difficult!!
Theresa - hope 2012 is better for you and your family.
Brenda - hope you are well enough to host your party on NYE.
Heidi - thinking of you trying to work with that bad back. It's a shame that we all don't live close, we could organise a working bee, bring our husbands too and get it done in no time.

Have been texting with Rolanda today - her Mum is still so-so and still in hospital but has been moved to the geriatric ward in a smaller hospital closer to home.
Otherwise, she is enjoying being away from the family circus in Perth. She says she misses all on SA and FB1

I'm about to head off to do errands - Mum's friend asked me to pick up a prescription for her in Eastie, while I'm there I'll look for a hand cream that was recommended for a young friend, then I'll fill my own prescriptions, then have coffee with friends, then pick up Dana. Wonder how Alie is getting home? Won't be me, not after the way she spoke to Dana and I this morning...

Greetings and Salutations to Everyone!

Suzy, have you found out the answers? Do you think she's just planning to stay until the big event?

Tami, so glad the falling glass didn't hurt anyone! I hope you are able to find a replacement light fixture that you like, though I understand that you aren't in a great hurry.

Brenda, I hope you are feeling better - and also hope you have some help with the preparations for the party! I hope you'll be able to enjoy it!

Heidi, please pace yourself with all the work you have planned! I understand that it's important to be done before your surgery. Can you find some to help you and Robert? It sounds like a large undertaking! Cyn's right - too bad we don't all live closer so we could have a work party to help out! Congrats on the new bull calf!

Theresa, thinking of you and all of your family! It has been one ___ of a year for you! Certainly hope the new year is much better!

Cyn, thanks for the update on Rolanda and her Mum! Please let her know that we're thinking of her and hoping she gets some great R & R!

Suzy, hope your errands went well!

CRAFTS has set in, and I need to head to bed. Positive thoughts and vibes, prayers, and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} coming your way! Good Night!

Everybody! Strange as it seems, my back isn't hurting much this morning! I feel fine about working on the fence some more today. Robert won't let me do anything too hard on the back, but I do some stuff when he's not looking (like loading the bags of concrete into the bucket of the tractor to take them to the worksite). He can't be in two places at once. IH is home, but he's an expert at avoiding all work. He'll offer to help, but says "I have to make a quick phone call first". Then he disappears for hours. If really pressed, he'll put in a few minutes work, but he'll do the worst job he can, while maintaining an unpleasant attitude, so we DON'T want to work with him. Actually, once we attach the auger to the tractor today, the job will go much quicker and easier.

Hi All, Thought I'd better post while I have a quiet minute or two to get my thoughts together..instead of a lot og questions from little people wanting to know what you are doing or why..lol. Angelique and Ezra have been so much fun, but I also know that it's so good to have my quiet time...I call the two of them my A&E team...for adult entertainment...most of the time.
Heidi, it is strange that you are doing that heavy work and yet the back isn't protesting...guess its the adrenaline working since you have set needed goals for things to get done before the surgery...hope it continues to hold up for you, so please continue to take care and STOP SNEAKING BEHIND ROBERT'S BACK.... LIFTING THAT CONCRETE ...yes, I'm yelling at you..lol. Keep that up and you may have a bunch of SA folks yelling. We are concerned!
Theresa...2011 has been so difficult for you and your extended family...I add my voice to those before me in hoping and praying that 2012 is much gentler and kinder to you all.
Tami, As a worry wart, you will now have even more to worry about. Motherhood is so hard in watching our young folks grow and move beyond our control and protection...but know that that is your job as a parent...to prepare your boys to become strong, self reliant men...and so far so good...just try to hold your fears close. Fortunately our fears are unfulfilled, and since we can't do anything about them, its best to worry only when we must...I know...easier said then done...hang in there girl, and when I come done to Florida, I'll be on the lookout for Mitchell...lol.
Suzie, Cyn and Julie...hi...since I've said so much already, I'll now leave the page up to you guys...have a great day...and Cyn, thanks for the Rolanda update...all of you are in my thoughts and prayers, hugs to you and the rest of our group too...Peace..I'm outta here.

I am tired. We had one of "those" days.... and with my new tractor. Robert and I started out by hooking up the post hole auger onto the tractor.... but when we tried to use it, the lift arms wouldn't lower. I thought it was something I was doing wrong, since I'm not used to everything on this tractor yet. So I went and got the owners manual to see if there was some step I was missing. I was doing everything right according to the manual. So I called the dealership and asked if I was skipping some crucial step. We went over everything, and they said I wasn't missing anything, but it sounded like something was jamming the lift arm mechanism. So I said that I'd go look it over and see if I could see what it was. To my surprise, the mechanic showed up here 5 minutes later. The 3 of us spent the next 3 hours trying to figure out what the problem was. Fortunately, operator error was ruled out first thing. Then we ruled out incompatibility between the tractor and the auger. It turned out to be a defective part on the tractor, that they had never heard of going bad. So Robert and I are back to digging out post holes by hand again.

Good morning all
Tami - keeping your Aunt Lil in my thoughts.
And congrats to Mitchell - it's one of the biggest worries in a mother's life when your child learns to drive but he's a sensible kid, he'll do fine.
Heidi - pleased your back isn't too bad this morning but please take it as easy as you can.
Mama - I know the feeling, as much as I love my grandies, I love the quiet time after they've gone to sleep/gone back home.
