I read on the 'Friends of Cockatoo' page on the other site that the second lot of donated goods was delivered to the family today, and the looks on the children's faces as they played with their 'new' toys was enough to bring tears to those who did the delivering. Apparently they have been given somewhere to stay and are moving in tomorrow. Now the call is being made for towels, kitchen implements and the like...blooming good excuse to get rid of a lot of clutter methinks. To the drawers, good woman :)

Well, we all got to meet the girlfriend tonight. It seemed to go well and everyone got on well. She's nothing like her predecessor, so that's a good start! And she seems to think the world of my son, she gets a big tick for that! I never saw the last one show him any affection at all.

BRILLIANT TOPP, Tami!!!!!

It sounds like Andrew learned from his (humdinger of a) mistake, CynB. How does she act around the girls? Or haven't you seen that yet. Maybe it's more important how the girls act around her. That's more of a reflection of how she acts with them in private.

Off to pick up the check for the calves. My fingers are crossed that the good prices held up.
There are still 11 calves here, but they're the smallest and need a few weeks of feeding before we sell them.

Morning all, just popping in without reading for now.

Sad news in my family - D and SIL are separating. It is very amicable and won't happen overnight, but it will happen. The kids are not being told until near the end. SIL is like a son to us.

If this is how 2012 is starting, I'm going to find a cave and hibernate.

Julie, it could take 6 to 9 months to get approved and an apartment found for me. I am just tired of this place. Yesterday another water leak was found. Today we could have flash floods, will have at the least slick muddy roads. Enough already. I want a new life for a new me, with people my age, and a small clean little apartment nearer to my family.

Heidi, hope the collie terrorist training camp gives you a break today.

MizT, I hope that you are allocated a new place sooner than later, you deserve to have some luxury after what you have dealt with, and from the sounds of another leak being found what you are still having to deal with by yourself. ((HUGS))
Well done June on winning your bowls match. Fingers crossed for the next round.

Gail, your community sounds wonderfully caring which is something you don't find very often.
I have lived in this street for nearly 13 years. There are only 13 houses and out of all of those I could only tell you anything about a couple of the families. Being at the end of a cul de sac doesn't help as none of the other residents have to pass my door.

Theresa.... after what they've been through in the last few years, it isn't that much of a surprise. They've been under more stress than a lot of marriages can survive. If your D's health improves, she starts working again, and she's able to resume a normal life, they may rethink the divorce. It's not a done deal yet.

We're under severe thunderstorm warning, and there have been tornado warnings in surrounding counties. We're in for an interesting day.

The calves brought very good prices. Not the extraordinary and unheard-of prices of last week, but the prices I'd been hoping for last week. I'm quite satisfied.

I just got a marvelous watch in the mail. It was shipped from Hong Kong (bought it on eBay). It has this picture of Misty ( Ch My Friend's Grey Agate HC ) on it!!! How often can you find a watch for sale of one of your favorite dogs, who you whelped and owned all her life? I may order a few more, in case I break this one.

Snow, snow and more snow. Another snow day for the kids.

I had to postpone my doctor's appointment for tomorrow until Feb. 3. MIL's slow care facility has set up meeting for tomorrow.

Heidi, I sincerely believe their marriage is over. They went through something similar a few years back, but apparently nothing has changed. They both still care about each other and are best of friends, but that's it.

How exciting about the watches. I would also order a few more if it were me.

Heidi, I was thinking of you when I was looking for a topp, but it fits so many of us.

Theresa, thinking of you. I also hope that things can work out but understand that that may not always happen. I understand not wanting to tell the kids yet but the delay won't make it any easier.

Tricia, I hope that a place can be found for you sooner rather than later.

Update on my Aunt Lil. She is in rehab and will be there for at least 10 more days. Right now, she can't go back to where she was living. She was living in a retirement community and could go downstairs for meals, if she chose. Right now even that is too much for her. She needs more care than that. They will see how much she improves over the next 10 days, and go from there. Her mother, my aunt Esther, was 104.5 when she died.

He's been here, and the tractor is happy! He said that all the new Mahindras are having problems with their oil pressure sensors, so he replaced it and no more alarm going off. That was driving me crazy.

Morning all,
I zipped over because I saw Theresa on FB and thought she might have dropped in here... I'm so sorry to hear about your D and SIL. That is going to make life impossible for everyone! {{{{Big hugs}}}} I wish they'd tell the kids now so they could see together what it is going to do to them!

Tami, more thoughts and wishes to Aunt Lil. <3<3<3

Heidi, bummed to hear you are waiting for the tractor mechanic. Hopefully not for your new tractor!

Theresa, I am so sorry to hear of the split of your SIL and D. having to be caregiver for so long, one forgets to be husband or wife. That hip got in the way of their normal married life. You are not too welcoming of cuddles, affection and sex when it hurts to touch. I know AL and I had to plan a time for husband and wife, every afternoon, once I had him settled for the early evening. We listened to music, held hands, and I talked about some of the things we had done back when that music was popular.

Oh dear - not a good news page!
Theresa - sorry about D & SIL - unfortunately once it's over, it's over. Hope they stay friendly for the girl's sake. Love the quote from your sister.
Tricia - hope you get you new place sooner rather than later. Can you be bumped up the list because of your circumstances?? Hope you sleep well. Big hugs.
Tami - hoping for some more improvement in Aunt Lil's health.
Heidi - love it that you got the watch, what a wonderful personal connection to it.
Rolanda - welcome back - read those back pages quickly so that you get back to normal soon.

Our rainy weather has gone and it is hot and humid again. It's only about 30C but the humidity makes it feel much higher. Got the air-con going for a few hours.
Got about 2 more hours of my little visitors (H&C) - to be honest it can't go quick enough!! School starts next week - already have 2 bookings for the movies and 1 for lunch/coffee for next week. WooHoo!

June, congrats on the win at bowls! Better yet, so glad the neuralgia is gone!

Broni, it sounds like you have jumped in with both feet! I hope you sleep well after all the work and eye strain!

Heidi, sounds like the little rascals had big plans for getting outside today! They may be a terrorist training camp, but they must be so CUTE!

Hooray! Rolanda is home safely!

Great TOPP, Tami!

Gail, thank you for the updates on the young family! How delightful that they appreciate the things being donated to them! What a great community you live in! Thank you for being willing to donate, as the rest of us can't! I'll send along some positive vibes, if that will help!

Cyn, GREAT news about Andrew's special someone! So glad to hear that she's earning points and doing the right things! I hope she and the girls will get along well!

Heidi, I hope you got a check as good as last week's!

MizT, you have a new avatar! Certainly can understand the desire for a newer, small place that you can keep clean and without water leaks and flash floods and slick, muddy roads and being nearer family! Would also be nice to be away from the "feral" neighbors, I bet! Keeping fingers crossed that will happen sooner rather than later!

Theresa, we're so glad to see you back posting! Unfortunately, your D and SIL sound like they have made their decision. Too bad! Maybe some counseling could help them to see a way to make changes that would help!

Brenda, there are advantages to being at the end of the cul de sac (quieter, less traffic), but those same advantages can also be disadvantages!

Heidi, I hope the horrible weather passed you by! What fun to have a watch with a favorite loved pet on the face! I'd be tempted to have an extra or two, as well!

Heidi, that grapefruit sounds amazing! It's been a while since I had a really good one. (Right now we are enjoying our "Cuties" clemintines!

Tami, sending positive thoughts and healing vibes for your Aunt Lil! I hope the 10 more days in rehab will provide enough improvement that she can go back where she was, or something suitable can be found quickly!

Heidi, hooray for the tractor mechanic!

MizT, you and Al had a great plan to keep a special time for yourselves! It's something too easily forgotten when there are medical issues that take much of your time and energy!

MizT, I hope your tummy is better and the sandman finds you!

Birthday wishes for Susan! We'll send her on a scavenger hunt to find them!

Sending positive vibes, healing thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for each of you and those you love! Additional extras for those we haven't seen in a bit. Take care of yourselves!
